Great food with a great mission - Edit
We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
Read moreWe ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Great place - Edit
I go to Střecha quite often, when I want to eat some Czech junk food and drink beer. They have really good fried cheese (smažák). They offer few different beers as well. I really like the concept that they employ people who were homeless or in jail, who wouldn't otherwise be able to find a job.

Ottimo cibo a prezzi contenuti! Ideale per poter provare in versione vegana piatti della tradizione e non (abbiamo assaggiato anche il piatto kebab ed era squisito). Siamo tornati due volte durante il nostro soggiorno, ed entrambe le esperienze sono state positivissime!

Recommendable - Edit
A bit hard to find as there is no big sign outside, just small writing on the entrance glass door. It's between the U Flecku and the mini market. I love that it's a cooperative. Nice staff, nice atmosphere. There is a lunch menu and lot's of à la carte choices.

Best choice in Prague - Edit
This place is a must in Prague - wether you are vegan or not. The food is really good, you get big portions and the price is more than fair. I had the goulash - and if I would not be sure that this is a vegan restaurant, I would return it and not believe that this is vegan.

Amazing, cheap food - Edit
I had to double check the menu to see if all the food was vegan! Super affordable and great value with good portions. We got the Vietnamese brunch and schnitzels with potato salad, and even had a bit of leftovers.

Absolute love - Edit
An excelent place to taste unique vegan versions. I love the schnitzels and potato salad. Lunch menu is very affordable, although when I ordered soup, the amount of food was too big for my stomach, but they happily packed the uneaten part to take home!

Very nice place with great food for its price. Went here the first day on my trip to Prague, which was a bad decision, as a lot of other restaurants in Prague dissappointed after this one.

Tofu tofu tofu - Edit
We arrived hungry at 2200 and then they said the kitchen was closed at. No exception. Was kinda bummed out. We could order some bread with tofu in oil and some kind of “egg” salad. The bread was just white bread not so wow. Would love to try out the dishes they looked good. Chocolate cake was yummie.

Could have been better - Edit
This place is kinda easy to overlook since I saw no signs outside (please correct me if I'm wrong). Maybe I came at the wrong time, too (~1 pm), but my beer goulash that I ordered came lukewarm and my waiter, who was a very lovely guy nevertheless, forgot my drink, as the restaurant was fairly crowded. The goulash was still super delicious and savoury, the dumpling I found to be a little bit too dense and dry. When I asked about my forgotten drink after having cleaned my plate, staff apologised and gave it to me for free. I'd love to come back and give this place another chance.

Good experience - Edit
Bottom line, a good restaurant visit with delicious food and friendly service. Although the atmosphere seemed a bit strange to me at the beginning, but that was probably a misperception. I would definitely come here again if I were in Prague.

We have been there to get vegan options of local food. It turned out Strecha is being run as a cooperative - in my view this is always extra points :)

Taste of Czech - Edit
They served amazing vegan versions of traditional Czech classics. Highly recommended if you are visiting Prague, and don’t count calories (the fried cheese portion was huge).

Can't go wrong with Střecha - Edit
This is the new installment for Střecha which has more room and more on the menu than the earlier place in Žižkov. It's great to see such a place thrive with its socially responsible agenda.
Read moreWe had Schnitzels with potato salad, which was 4 out of 5 (could need a bit more salt/pepper), beer Gulasch with dumplings (5 of 5) and fried cheese with French fries (5 of 5). They also have cake and sweets.
Service was quick, the food rather cheap. We paid 9 euro for a meal and drink.
I recommend going there and enjoying their traditional Czech inspired cuisine. And if you do so, please buy a prepaid lunch for a person in need as well, which is only an additional 6 euro.
Pros: Tasty traditional Czech cuisine , Low prices , Prepaid lunch for people in need
Cons: Nothing

Best restaurant I’ve seen - Edit
You should go and check it out for yourself, but this place is magical in its absolute casualness of delivery, food, taste, and environment. This should be an absolute standard of a restaurant upon which other restaurants should take inspiration on what the perfect experience is. The food was very tasty, but not too overwhelming. The flavors were smooth but vibrant. The food was also quite simple and minimalistic; the ingredients used were almost obvious. I had a lunch menu (main dish soup) and a dessert for only 200 CZK! (

It was after 10pm and only Czech "snacks" available but staff were very helpful. Got tofu egg, garlic tofu (very nice!), and vegan aspic, and then cake! Inexpensive. Accept cards. Clean bathrooms. Nice large, bright space. Do a different lunch menu deal everyday
