Average food, crowded and noisy - Edit
I ate here with my brother and his family on a Wednesday night and I'm guessing we are not their main demographic, this place is really more for the NYU crowd. Full disclosure, I am a person in my mid 50's and I don't enjoy loud club/dance music with dinner.
Read moreThe decor is a little sad and tired and the table we had was almost too wobbly to use and could have used a good cleaning.
I have a mushroom allergy and was told by the waiter that literally everything on the menu had some kind of mushroom broth in it so my options were vegetable fried rice without mushroom broth or plain noodles. I opted for the rice which tasted like a bland ashtray. (oh they were also out of brown rice for some reason).
The waiter was helpful once he understood my allergy was a true allergy and not a preference and the food came out quickly.
The food my family ate looked good and they said it was "fine"
Pros: fast, friendly service
Cons: loud music, not the cleanest place, not super allergy friendly

Get the wontons in chili oil - Edit
This place gets so many superlatives. We ordered a turnip cake because vegans ones are really hard to find (they often contain shrimp paste). This was delicious and more savory than at a place we’ve tried in Seattle. These were also the best wontons in chili oil we’ve ever had. I highly recommend getting these and holding onto the sauce for dipping. We then tried the mapo tofu, which was more flavorful than other versions I’ve tried in restaurants (I’m assuming because they use beyond meat instead of mushroom or veggies as a sub for animal parts). I recommend getting one non-spicy dish to give your tongue a break from the numbing spice. (We opted for the steamed veggies, good choice) Overall amazing Sichuan place and love their vibes. Can’t wait to come back.

Cute and decent - Edit
Very cute plate with decent food. The mains are better than the appetizers, at least in the experience I had. It’s nice to have options for Chinese food where you don’t have to grill the servers about what might be hiding in the sauce but also which aren’t completely focused on mediocre fake meats like so many vegan pan-Asian places are!

Loved the food - Edit
A+ for food, A- for the service.
Read moreNot quite sure whether it had to do with the time of day or just overall that specific moment, but the service wasn't that great. Yes, staff was friendly don't get me wrong but they were just not there for most of the meal so the little interaction we did have was friendly. Bringing out wrong dishes, forgetting our drinks, no water, etc. everything felt quite rushed.
But the food on the other hand was great, although I'm not sure it would be my first pick if I'm ever in New York again.
