Lovely stop for coffee and a sweet treat - Edit
Lovely choice of cakes and hot drinks (as well as sandwiches and meals though we only popped in for a coffee break). I was excited to discover the spiced chai hot chocolate was vegan and it came with whipped cream and marshmallows too, so was super chuffed. My friend had the dark chocolate and tahini cookie which she loved and I had a moist and generous slice of Frangipane tart which was incredible.

South Street Kitchen - Edit
I’ve visited here a few times however not for a long while. The venue itself is great, seating available on ground and first floor, as well as outside if the weather is kind! They have ready prepped salads, sandwiches, cakes and pastries, as well as a cook to order menu. It was difficult to know what was in each dish for allergen/intolerances. When asked the staff member wasn’t sure and seemed put out that we wanted a definitive answer, but in the end did go and ask the kitchen. I had the mushrooms on toast with a side of tofu. The mushrooms were not pleasant, had a very strong and overpowering aniseed taste. The tofu scramble was very soft, maybe using silken tofu, and very salty. My friend was also disappointed with their food quality and did raise a complaint to management about their meal. Not sure if there’s been a change, or it was an off day, but on previous visits the food has been good. I’d revisit but maybe on a weekday next time as it was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Fun place - Edit
Definitely a more interesting brunch menu than most places with lots of vegan choice. Food was nice and good portion sizes but I felt it was lacking a bit of finesse for me to give 4 stars.

Nice - Edit
Really nice authentic Middle Eastern style vegan brunch/lunch options, and the best vegan pastry selection I’ve seen from any cafe in Sheffield. Vegan cookie sandwiches, pan o chocolate, brownies, tarts. Highly recommend!!

Veggie cafe at Park Hill - Edit
I can't believe I hadn't already left a review from when we used to come here pre-covid. We started visiting SSK the first month if not week of it opening all those years ago and it was always a favourite of ours. We'd visit every time we went to the city centre. This has been our second visit since venturing out again post-covid. We'd already eaten so just had a bowl of the Lebanese Crispy Potatoes and a drink each. The potatoes were delicious and beautifully presented. Our visit today reminded us how much we like it here and we'll definitely visit again and again from now on :)

Me and my daughter had a booking for the Palestinian evening (all profits going to Medical Aid for Palestinians) after a long train ride (very close to train station)
Read moreWe were so impressed. Such a relaxed atmosphere - we felt able to unwind and chat after a long day. Friendly and helpful staff. Interesting menu. The food was perfect. I guess the only negative is not everything is vegan. Will definitely come back when visiting next.

Best coffee in town and amazing range of options for vegans. We had the aubergine mezze sandwich, the cauliflower soup, and the chickpea wrap - all mouth-wateringly lovely.

Great food but noisy - Edit
The venue has an industrial relaxed decor. Upstairs the ceiling is low so it is very noisy.
Read moreIt was a lovely warm evening when my husband and I visited and we wanted to sit outdoors but were not allowed to. Indoors was too warm and we did not feel relaxed because of the Covid risk indoors, which would have been virtually non-existant outdoors. Yet later they did seem to serve some people outside.
It was a dumpling evening and the food was certainly interesting with great flavour. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would say that this place is relatively expensive given the size of the portions.

Good veggie cafe 👍 - Edit
South Street Kitchen does all the standard veggie cafe fare - sandwiches, soups, salads, cakes, and some hot options like beans on toast.
Read moreIt does them fancy, with their own little twists on things. Everything is vegetarian and almost everything can be vegan.
I had three salads with muhammara, a side of falafel, and an oat milk cappuccino. They were all nice, but not really the best I've had. The salads didn't taste of much but thankfully the muhammara really popped so I poured that on everything. I should say this was at 3PM so maybe the salads taste better earlier when they're a bit fresher.
The falafel were nice, I'd definitely recommend them, and the cappuccino was ok but I've had better. All in all it was a nice lunch but for £17 I'd have liked more flavoursome than I got.
Still a good option and I'd go back here.

Lots of tasty vegan options - Edit
Everything I've tasted here has been incredible. Although it's a vegetarian cafe, there are a large amount of vegan options on their main menu. Attended one of the speciality nights and everything I tried was super tasty and only one option on whole menu wasn't vegan

Delicious food, a relaxed experience. - Edit
I’ve never enjoyed a whole plate of broccoli more in my life. Each dish was unique, and seasoned and cooked to perfection. They made ordinary vegetables into wonderful experiences. It’s also exciting that the menu changes regularly! I’d love to go back to see what they come up with next!

Strange vegan breakfast...stew? - Edit
This place is right by the tram line, very easy to walk past so keep your eyes peeled.
Read moreI love the colour scheme of this place, love the decor and the pretty little plants on the tables!
The vegan breakfast was a bit weird? It was more like a tomato stew with onions and bits of aubergine. I made the mistake of ordering this as it came with so many big chunks of tomatoes; I thought that the aubergine would be the star of the dish. Flavour was ok. The bread was the highlight.
Felt a bit mislead by the name "vegan English breakfast", the lady did describe the dish to me and it sounded like a stew, I chose it over the pie.
Upon looking at the pies before leaving, I don't think that I would have liked it if I ordered it instead.
The pea mint smash concoction on bread was not for me at all. The tofu scramble was the best out of everything.
Hot chocolate was beautifully presented with a heart!
Staffs were lovely.
Pros: Decor
Cons: Didn't really like the food options, Stew as an English breakfast?

Breakfast here was faultless, tasty and interesting. The staff are warm and friendly. You can either sit in a nice atmosphere or get a takeaway and sit in the open air amphitheater that overlooks the train station.

Just wonderful - Edit
We absolutely love South Street Kitchen and it is one of our ‘go-to’ places for a Saturday afternoon coffee. The location is amazing (we can pretend we live in one of the Park Hill flats for a short while!), it’s lovely to sit out on the lawn in summer. The food is beautiful and they always have a great range of cakes on offer. We love it here.

Delicious Middle Eastern/Syrian food, plenty of vegan options. Amazing vegan cakes. Great coffee with oat milk (as a coffee snob I rarely say this but their coffee is good). Friendly staff.
