Good portion sizes - Edit
Visited here a few times now and have always left full, satiated and feeling healthy.
Read moreThe portion sizes are great so you get good bang for your buck.
Service is always great and staff are lovely.
Atmosphere could do with a tweak as sometimes I've visited there has been no music playing which is uncomfortable.
Would be nice to see some new things on the menu or for it to be expanded.
Pros: Great service, Healthy food, Spacious
Cons: Music, Lack of atmosphere

Really lovely - Edit
The kambucha is probably the best I’ve ever had. Everything was amazing. Though the kimchi could have used a bit more of a kick for my liking. We split the winter Warmer and it was a perfect balance of decadent without being overly sweet.

Very disappointing - Edit
I have never written a bad review but I was so disappointed with my experience at Soul Food Kitchen that I am inclined to do so now. The man who ‘greeted’ us made my friends and I uncomfortable as soon as we stepped into the restaurant. I myself have worked in hospitality for years and know a thing or two about customer service. Instead of being greeted with a smile we were immediately scolded for not having made a reservation in advance. While I understand that it’s always best to book a table when you’re with a group, we had been exploring the nearby area and spontaneously decided to pop in since I had read so many good reviews. There were only 6 of us and we came at a completely dead time (4pm) - the place was almost empty!! The food was good but nothing to write home about. Pair this with the unfriendly service and lack of atmosphere and I see no reason for me to return. Plenty of other amazing vegan places in Glasgow.

Really enjoyed my meal - Edit
Had a very lovely waitress who was enthusiastic about the food and it’s benefits. Ordered (after much consideration) the jackfruit Goulash with a side of Mac & greens and a side of Houmous, while my boyfriend ordered the haggis Neeps and tatties. We loved the meal, it was really nice to go to restaurant and get vegan food that isn’t “dirty.” We then had banoffee raw cheesecake for dessert, which Matthew wasn’t so keen on (but still ate the whole thing) and I loved. Really lovely experience, would definitely go again.

Seasoned offering - fresh, delicious food. - Edit
I visited the Soul Food Kitchen on a lunch time and was pleased to see it was very busy, always a good sign. The staff were dressed in smart, professional uniforms and greeted me in a similar fashion.
Read moreI was advised that my order might take a little longer than usual because the kitchen was so busy, I was not in a rush and decided to order the House Burger.
My server brought me water (without me needing to ask 😁) and a very well prepared coffee, which I ordered. I was very comfortable in the cool, garden/ decking style area outside the front of the premises.
I had only been sitting for a short while when my food arrived, fresh, tasty and well presented !! 😛
It was clear that the restaurant had well established training and systems in place in order to operate efficiently, even under times of high volume. This made for a very relaxing dining experience. The quality of food and service furthered my enjoyment of The Soul Food Kitchen.
Il will definitely be back with friends 😁

It was good - Edit
Had the mac and cheese which was less cheese, more green and not super flavourful which was but not as expected from a comfort food. Presentation was great, this place is a bit more of the upmarket healthy style which I didn't expect from the name either!

Hello, That you for taking the time to leave us a review! Yes our "Mac and Greens" does have quite a bit of veg in it as we want to add a healthy twist to the comfort classic it is still creamy and cheesy. We are sorry this wasn't to your taste. We are glad you're enjoyed your visit overall and we hope to see you again soon.

Delicious food in huge portions - Edit
Located in trendy Finnieston this vegan restaurant is ideal for a pre-show meal if going to a concert at the SSE Hydro, Armadillo or SEC. Friendly staff welcomed me on my first visit and the Haggis Bon bons I had as a starter where accompanied by a tasty sauce and where lovely. Had I known the size of the main course I would have missed the starter though. I had the risotto which was delicious. All reasonably priced and in a tastefully decorated restaurant.

Disappointed - Edit
I came here for a healthy vegan, soy free meal and they had just two or three soy free options. I chose a salad with chickpeas and hummus. It was rather disappointing. It came with 4-5 chickpeas on top of some lettuce and a few slices of avocado.

Thank you for leaving us some feedback. We're very sorry that our restaurant didn't serve what you were looking for. Since soy is such a commonly used substitute, it can be hard to make a huge selection of foods that are soy free. Although we absolutely understand your disappointment and we'll see if we can look into things.

Worth traveling thousands of miles to eat here! - Edit
Okay, so I didn't travel thousands of miles *only* to eat at this restaurant - but it was one highlight of my four-day visit to Glasgow from the US east coast.
Read moreI stopped in for a weekday lunch today, and enjoyed a perfect meal -- Mac & Greens with a cashew cheese sauce and assorted leafy vegetables and peas, with a side salad and a generous serving of toasted sourdough bread. I gobbled up every bite except for some of the bread, as I wanted to save room for one of the enticing desserts displayed at the entry. I was glad I made that choice - finishing my meal with a delicious and beautifully presented Orange Chocolate Cheezecake and soy latte.
My only disappointment: I happen to be staying at one of several boutique hotels on the same block as the restaurant, and returned later to request another dish as takeout dinner for my hotel room. They told me they sometimes do takeout -- but unfortunately could not accommodate me on this particular evening, as they were too busy serving a large group.
Pros: Delicious and healthy food, Extensive menu, Lovely atmosphere
Cons: Unclear takeout policy

Scope to improve - Edit
Very friendly service and a warm welcome, but lacking in atmosphere. Lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians but needs to up its cooking. Hummus starter was rather dry and boring and too carb heavy. The mains looked nice but were lacking in taste and imagination. Needs more layers of flavours, more herbs more spices. Not sure I would come back.

The brunch menu is a highlight for this place, would recommend it for brunch and for their very reasonable opening hours. Mac and cheese, and the pancakes are excellent! Some dishes on the main menu leave a lot to be desired, and somewhat expensive for what they are.

Mainly raw desserts which are okay but an acquired taste
