Delicious Vegan Curry

We popped in for lunch yesterday and ordered the Vegan Jamaican. The chef came and spoke to us and asked if we would like the breadfruit curry he had made the day before, which we agreed to. The curry was delicious. The waitress and chef were very friendly and helpful and we were impressed with the food. We shall definitely be returning when we visit King's Lynn.

Pros: Good vegan options, Chef friendly and suggested a freshly made curry, Friendly, helpful staff

Delicious, authentic Caribbean food

The Caribbean food is the only way to go at Soul Kitchen. The vegan platter starter is delicious, with home cooked tortillas and a selection of dips. The Jamaican plate is a mix of peas and rice, callaloo, plantain (SO GOOD) and a selection of creole dips of varying spice. We loved the dips so much when offered to take some jars home we couldn't say no!

A lovely addition to the Kings Lynn high street and nice to see vegan options so clearly labelled.

A little disappointing

Lovely open light place, friendly waiter, food is cooked in an open kitchen.
We ordered the vegan Wellington, which was probably a mistake as it wasn't specifically Jamaican. It wasn't bad, it was quite tasty, but had been heated from frozen and some of it was cold, not fully cooked. Also not very generous portion for the price. It took a long time to arrive. They didn't have the vegan dessert we wanted either, it was apparently being delivered tomorrow.

Pros: A few vegan options, Lovely light airy place, Nicely presented

Cons: Expensive for the serving size, Our food wasn't fully heated through

Delicious vegan food perfectly presented

Absolutely delicious vegan food... I had the 'Vegan Jamaican' followed by Chocolate Coconut Tart, would 100% recommend! All of the meals that I watched leave the open kitchen looked so good! Lovely staff too 😊

Amazing value weekday lunchtime offer

Really good experience at Soul Café today - delicious food... I had yam cakes for starter and Malaysian udon noodles for my main -not exactly Caribbean but yummy nevertheless, and amazing value as part of the 2 courses for £8.50 weekday lunchtime offer. The usual main menu is a little more expensive but has two vegan starters, three vegan mains and one vegan dessert... so I tried that one vegan dessert; vegan/gluten free chocolate and coconut slice which was absolutely divine! And I will most certainly be coming back for more. Staff were friendly and service was efficient. Would give 5 stars if I could!

Mediocre

We were alone in the restaurant, yet it took 1,5 hours for our meals to arrive. Later we found out they were hosting a party upstairs and were preparing the meals for them first. We'd have appreciated a prior warning that it might take longer.

Apart from that, the staff was polite. There were 3 vegan mains on the menu, along with a soup, breakfast and a dessert. The soup of the day was pumpkin soup and tasted real nice. We also has the vegan breakfast and vegan gumbo. Both meals looked fantastic, yet the taste was rather mediocre. The gumbo was bland. We left feeling unimpressed.

Pros: A couple vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Long wait, Mediocre

Best vegan curry

Wow! Visited the restaurant recently whilst on hols on north Norfolk. There were so many vegan options; approximately 50% of the main meals were vegan. I went for the Sweet Potato Jerk Curry and was blown away! I cook a lot for myself and love the variety of flavours you can achieve with vegan curry. The smell, taste and presentation were fantastic, I couldn't fault any of it. I spoke with Oliver (the owner and chef) who said the base was a Carribean jerk paste, which has got me furiously searching the internet for recipes! Visit this place if you can - I know the menu changes a lot though...

The depth of flavour in this curry made a mockery of other restaurants giving 'vegan' options.

Pros: Great serviceq, Presentation, taste! and depth of flavour
