Mixed feelings - would give 2.5 if could

Ordered: Vegan jackfruit con carne bread bowl. Got a decent (read: on the small side) bread bowl with jackfruit and beans.

This place is fairly straightforward to find. It's on a street that runs off the long Shinsaibashi shopping street. The staff speak English fluently and the menu is clear about which options are vegan and which are not.

I have mixed feelings about this place for two reasons:
1) They didn't seem to have as many vegan options as other reviews indicate. I was keen to try the mushroom fish and chips but did not see it on the vegan menu. They did have a vegan special happening though - the jackfruit con carne. As soon as I saw it, I was sold.
2) The jackfruit con carne was DAMN GOOD. Especially the bread; it smelled like it had been baked fresh earlier and had a nice flaky crust with soft insides. For the price I paid though, I would have liked to see a bigger serving size, and I'm a fairly small-sized eater. Then again, they did specify on a chalkboard outside the restaurant that the food by itself probably wouldn't be enough to satiate unless you ordered some alcohol. I may have ordered some alcohol if it was dinner time but as it was lunch and I was with my family, I didn't. I'll allow others to make their own judgements about whether the serving sizes are reasonable.

As a final note, this restaurant is a smoking location. This wasn't a problem to me personally but if you're not a fan of smoking locations, be aware of this.

Pros: Menu clearly delineates vegan options

Cons: Small sized portions (in my opinion)

Great food, great staff

I was lucky enough to be staying close to this gem. Went here every day I was in Osaka and got to try most of the vegan menu. Everything was delicious. Do yourself a favor and get here ASAP.

Pros: Food, Staff, Location

Great food, smells like smoke

The food was great (we went twice!), just ask for the vegan menu. Only complaint is that there were people smoking right bedside us both times we went - although this is normal for Osaka/Japan in general it was a mood killer.

cozy restaurant, good beers and food

I went here yesterday and I liked it a lot. It’s well located and it has a nice atmosphere. The food is really good, the portions are medium sized and they have a wide range of alcoholic beverages. The prices are great compared to other vegan restaurants in Japan.

Pros: service

They have a vegan menu!

This restaurant was very nice. I asked for the vegan menu and ordered a slice of pizza, vegan bites and a fudge brownie. The vegan dessert changes so don't always expect a brownie. The food filled me up and the waitress knew English!

Pros: Vegan menu, Alcohol is served, Good vibes

Very accommodating!

This place was awesome! They have an entire vegan menu from pizza to pasta to fish and chips as well as daily vegan deserts!

We both had the vegan fish and chips which is made from portobello mushrooms! Was very great! 👍🏼

Pros: Speaks English, Fast Service, Delicious

2.5 stars would be fitting

This Canadian/pizza place recently created a full on vegan menu with a decent number of options. I recently went with a group and between us we ordered several things from the menu.

We were all glad they're making the effort, but they still have a ways to go; everyone's main issues were the price to portion ratio (even considering this is generally something encountered at places in Japan) and the overall lack of flavour (save for the okonomiyaki). No one was full from one item and some weren't after two.

While I was glad to be able to get a vegan poutine, most of us felt they'd be better off offering half as many options but doing them as properly as the non-vegan dishes. Keep at it!

Pros: Variety, Vegan poutine!

Cons: Prices, Portions, Flavour
