Simon’s is back with a new vegan focus - Edit
11/2024 Simon’s son Tyler and his wife Maya have bought Simon’s and they have a new plant-based menu. Fabulous.

2024 We’ve been coming to Simon’s for many years, often 3-4 times a week. Love their food but recently a few of the waitresses have told me that the granola contains honey, despite being marked vegan on the menu. They have no plans to change the menu markings.
There have been other mixups as well with regular cheese vs. vegan cheese and whether specials are fully vegan. Most of the wait staff are terrific at knowing what’s what. Just ask questions.
Love the food, love the people, not a fan of having accidentally eaten honey.

Delicious breakfast and so many options! - Edit
I love that just about everything on the menu can be modified to be vegan! Also some dishes are vegan themselves. I got the Toco skillet made vegan with tofu scramble and it was delicious! Everything is so fresh. Can’t wait to try more 😍

Love the vegan sandwiches! - Edit
They always have great vegan options at Simons and the food is consistently good. The portions are generous and the food delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. I love the sandwiches with a house salad, everything is always so fresh and flavourful. The vegan cakes are yummy too, if you leave enough room for dessert!

simon's englishish breakfast - Edit
i got the full monty, but asked for it vegan! our waitress was lovely and accomadating! she said she could make that vegan no problem, with tofu scramble, portabellas, avo, roasted toms, and beans! unfortunately, they forgot my beans, but she was so sweet, she would have gotten them for me had i asked. my husband loved his meal as well, and the service was wonderful! they were super busy, so it was all understandable. delicious, and would return!

A long and confusing experience in a covid-anxiety-producing environment - Edit
This place seems to be trying to position itself as plant-based centric, complete with 'plant based' merch, but it didn't seem to be any different from a typical diner with a few vegan options. I went in for breakfast/brunch and the menu was animal product heavy and confusing. The online menu differed from the laminated menus, and there were additionally food items on display plus two different chalkboards in two different areas (one area for dine-in, one for ordering take-out). I had a hard time figuring out what options I had. The announcement at the top of the happycow description said there's a plant based menu, but I asked two different waitstaff and they told me there wasn't one. There were a few vegan specials on one of the chalkboards in the dine-in/bar area, but since I was trying to order take-out and had been directed into the other area I couldn't find them at first. The person who took my order wandered away before my transaction was confirmed so I wasn't sure what was happening at first. It took a long time to get the food. I kept going outside and then coming back to check on the status because the place was full of people dining in with no masks on. Simon himself, who I recognized from the website, was also there with no mask, not eating, just moving about and talking to people. The food was decidedly "ok". I became the garbage disposal for the food my partner didn't want to finish. I'm honestly confused as to why all the reviews are 'top-rated' for a meat-serving restaurant that only allows 4 stars as a maximum. It is possible I was just somehow missing some extensive trove of vegan offerings or that I was there on an off day. My vegan mocha was good though, and I think the one thing we really liked was a gluten free baked good from the display case, which I do think were mostly/all vegan.
Read moretl;dr: Maybe just stick to coffee and a pre-made baked treat and get out fast before you get covid.
Pros: vegan baked goods, decent coffee, vegan offerings
Cons: confusing menus and ordering process, unremarkable food, covid protocols lacking

Simons is simply the best. - Edit
I have had the privilege of being able to visit Simons every time I visit Osprey Sarasota which is usually several times a year for almost a decade.
Read moreThe food and the service have consistently been outstanding. I really appreciate that Simon does not discriminate against non vegans, this is important to me because it makes it easier for me to get my son and others to join.
Simons creativity and simplicity in delivering outstandingly delicious and nutritious food frankly out performs all of the dozens of vegan restaurants we frequent in Toronto.
Well done Simon, you and your team are awesome.
It is sad that despite your having more and better options than most fully vegan restaurants cow only allows a perverted star system , Simons is at least 6 out of 5

Delicious even for my 13yr old - Edit
I am a new vegan and visited Simon’s with a friend. The atmosphere and staff are excellent and willing to make changes on the menu as needed. I was very impressed at the menu options as well as the quality of food. The owner even showed us the menu for the evening which brings a new ambiance to the cafe with a “speakeasy” feel. I’m so excited to return!

Bakery treats are amazing! - Edit
I had brunch there and got the Mediterranean tofu plate. It was very good! The chef is vegan so there are options on all sections of the menu for vegan dishes. The bakery treats at the counter are amazing! We got the dragon fruit cheese cake, a berry crumble pie, and a brownie with coconut and almonds to go. All vegan and all amazing!

We visit Simon’s every time we’re in the area. Love that they always have vegan options on the menu, including sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts. I often feel that it’s a bit pricey for the quantity of food you get, but we keep going back, so I guess it doesn’t bother me that much after all!

A++! - Edit
I've been here a bunch of times and taken a raw food class with the chef. The raw lasagna is the best raw meal I've ever had and the new raw dessert maker they have made a creamy cheese cake that was pretty amazing. They have lots of choices for everyone, including meat eaters. They have kombucha on tap, coffee, smoothies, just about everything for the health conscious person. Staff is amazing and friendly. Love it! Would give 5 stars if I could.

excellent lunch - Edit
I hadn't been to Simons Coffee House in a couple years. They have taken their vegan options to the next level!!! I had this amazing sandwich I believe was called the Taos, tofu with tempeh bacon, cashew cheese, veganaise, and bbq sauce as a toasted panini. It had the best ooey gooey smokey and bbq flavor. The cashew cheese just took it over the top. The sandwich came with a salad or soup which every single soup was vegan today. I chose the Italian vegetable and garbanzo soup which was also excellent. They have brought in a vegan pastry chef who makes a whole bunch of vegan and gluten free desserts. So many choices. Today they had mango cheese cake, two kinds of fruit crisps, chocolate cake, brownies, buckeyes and I just had to try the peanut butter mousse. Let's just say that the noise in the room disappeared as I was transported into a peanut butter dreamy state. The addition of fresh sweet berries gave a nod to PB&J. If you haven't been in a while I say go!! Simons just became my go to lunch spot in Sarasota.

Delicious lunch and nice atmosphere! - Edit
Simon's is really fun since they have so many options for everyone. They always have delicious vegan and vegetarian soup options, vegan desserts and some that are also raw, sandwiches (cashew cheese/ avocado available instead of cheese) and they have new vegan specials everyday. All the lunch food I had their was very good. My favorite is the Ruby sandwich and soups.
Read moreThe one dish I didn't care for was for breakfast, it was the tofu scramble. it was more like cubes of tofu, not scramble.
Also, if you are truly celiac/ gluten free, note that their breads made by Sami's bakery are not gluten free.
The service is a hit or miss.
Pros: Really good lunch, Lots of options, nice atmosphere
Cons: vegan breakfast not great, service is a hit or miss

We first stopped at Simon’s Coffee House a year ago when we were vacationing in Siesta Key. We went back a week ago and Simon’s continues to be a great breakfast and lunch café. We are vegans and Simon’s always has many items on their menu we can eat. Everything we ordered was delicious. I especially love their black bean soup with a hearty slice of bread. Service is friendly and attentive. It is a small restaurant so go early to get a table. I highly recommend this restaurant.
