Amazing Ramen - Edit
Extremely delicious ramen with lots of vegan meat alternatives and variations! Unfortunately the duck was a little bit cold but other than that very delicious! The prices are alright but relatively high (15€ per bowl)

Four and a half stars - Edit
"Shisomen" is a vegan Japanese fusion restaurant, so I expected to feel right at home. However, when I greeted the staff in Japanese I was answered by a puzzled look. It turns out Shisomen is run by Vietnamese only, with one German waiter. The staff speaks Vietnamese, German and English.
Read moreDespite the lack of Japanese, the items on the menu look genuine and I chose the most standard Japanese dish: miso ramen. Because it was quiet, service was swift. The first thing I noticed that the bowl of ramen was presented beautifully, as if the chef expects every guests to take a picture of the meal before eating it. So I did!
The taste of the miso ramen is more mild than I'm used to in Japan, but certainly good. Although I never tasted pork belly make from a pig, the imitation version in the ramen tasted like a good addition to the palette of ingredients.
The green tea that came along with the ramen was blend. Even though the bag of dried herbs was in the cup for the entire duration of the lunch, the hot water never really tasted like tea. Well, at least it's better than that brown stuff most Western restaurants serve as "green tea".
Because of the tasty ramen and the friendly service, I decided to order a dessert. Shisomen serves mochi, which is rare in Europe. The staff ordered to combine two flavours, both of which were excellent. When I asked how they got actual mochi the answer was simple: we regularly import it from Japan.
After the tasteless tea, good ramen and excellent dessert I thought this restaurant deserved four stars. However, the friendly staff and beautiful presentation increase that to 4 point 5 stars. Since I can't give 4 and a half star, I rounded it to a full 5 stars!
Pros: good taste, beautiful presentation, friendly service in English, German, Vietnamese

Excellent ramen, perfect for cold weather - Edit
Excellent food. We had the gyoza, tantan ramen, and shiso ramen. Everything was really nice. The faux meats were well infused with flavor, and the broth was well done. The only change I would make would be that the gyoza were more oily than normal.
Read moreThe shiso leaves in the water glasses amd the barley tea when you arrive are also a nice touch.
Pros: Tantan ramen
Cons: Gyoza too oily

Good ramen - Edit
Incomparable to ramen from Japan, but if you want to be reminded of Asia at least a little, it is worth tasting. The food itself is excellent, but it doesn't have the same flavor as in Asia.

Lovely food - Edit
Amazing food. The imitation meat was so realistic that I actually struggled to eat it!! The duck was slightly cold, hence only 4 stars. Otherwise though, so so so delicious

Good vibes - Edit
Ramen broth was quite salty, as we're the wontons in it. I also had a hair which they rectified by offering me a free drink.

Alright - Edit
The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great, but I found the food a little overrated for the price! I had the miso ramen which wasn’t bad, but wasn’t worth what I paid. The cocktails were great, however, and seeing vegan egg white as an option in the cocktails was something I had never seen before.

Cons: Ramen could’ve been better , Quite pricey

Gyozas not so good - Edit
Maybe I should have chosen a different dish, or maybe I had bad luck with the preparation. The gyozas were too greasy and did not taste good to me at all.
Read moreThe cocktail was ok, but a bit expensive.
This place is still fully vegan. Everything non-vegan has been crossed out on the menu.

I had big expectations but was disappointed, the starter didn’t taste much and so didn’t the ramen soup, to expensive also. I wouldn’t come again.

Cosy restaurant, nice ramen - Edit
Cosy restaurant, a really nice place to go with friends. They had a special lunch offer so it was just 12 euros a ramen and a free cup of tea! The ramen was very good, though maybe a bit salty and I would have preferred a bit more veggies. But still recommend!

Nice ramen and cocktails - Edit
This place is quite large, but cute (with many outside seatings). They have nice (Japanese) cocktails and the staff is nice. However, their ramen wasn't that special. It also contained too much noodle and too few veggies and protein.

Close enough - Edit
I would not call this authentic Japanese ramen since I've eaten plenty of them in the past in Japan, nevertheless it was close enough. I'm not sure why 'Tonkotsu ramen' had vegan beef in it, when normally in Japan it has 'Char siu', which is Chinese style barbecued sliced pork. I guess there isn't a vegan version of 'Char siu' pork yet. Nonetheless the food was pretty good, the staff were nice and the seats outside are also pleasant for a centre location. I would recommend it!
Read morePros: nicely flavoured, relatively wide choice of ramen, outside seats
Cons: not cheap, no small glass draught beer, they only offer 0.5L, a bit salty for me, but maybe ok for most people
