Had another lovely visit to Shakey Shakey on Bank holiday Monday after some sunshine on Ramsgate beach. There is a separate dedicated menu with both vegan and gluten free options, available on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. Enjoyed a huge helping of Tofish and Chips with mushy peas and a side dish of curry sauce. Deeeeeelicious! Was so full I had no room to try the batteries Oreos, I’ll be giving them a whirl next time we get to take a trip down the coast. 🌱🤤

What a friendly welcome! We also got to sample the amazing chips with Shakey Shakey salt before our meals were ready. We ate our tofish and battered sausage with chips by the sea on a beautiful sunny day.

I love this place, every time I go in there their vegan menu is bigger, I think it's actually bigger than the non vegan menu now. I tried their new donerless wrap today and it blew my mind! And the staff are the cherry on top. They are always so sweet and friendly

Our first visit the other day, such a friendly atmosphere and fantastic vegan menu with really good prices. We even got to sample the homemade ‘shakey shakey’ 12 spice blend on some chips which was really tasty. There is also a GF menu. We would absolutely go back again!

Well worth a visit for the vegan menu which features Tofish, battered sausage, pea fritter, vege burger, Battered prawns, banana fritter, pineapple fritter and many other options. The staff are so lovely too.

Yes they do non-vegan/veggie food as well (hence why the system won’t let me give 5 stars) but their Vegan menu (including ToFish & Chips) is very wide and super tasty. The best thing (after the food) is the incredible customer service we get every single time. Best in Thanet!

A totally unexpected vegan feast from a seemingly ordinary looking seaside fish&chip shop. The variety of vegan food was incredible, prepared beautifully and with a great care by the owners. Our Tofish (fish style tofu) with chips came with beautifully prepared salad and vegan mayo.It was fresh ,tasty, non-greasy and the portions were very generous. The owners were super friendly and we even got a little free freshly made vegan sweet treat to finish off the biggest vegan food surprise we've had in a very long time.

Adore this place. We make the effort to come from Gravesend about once a month. The vegan menu is HUGE and they add new stuff all the time. Everything is so scrummy. I usually have the tofish and chips but the battered sausage is spot on the real thing. Portion sizes are generous and if you eat in you get a free salad and vegan tartar sauce. The owner is lovely and friendly (her daughter I think runs a vegan market stall in London and gave her the inspiration). There's homemade spicy salt on all the tables and a gluten and wheat-free menu too. And they let us come and sit on the front table with our small dog (although she has to be on the downlow and we usually go when it's quiet). There's a Cats in Crisis charity shop opposite (where we met a vegan volunteer). And the omnis with me said their meals were some of the best they'd had too. Cannot recommend enough :)

I have been going to shakey shakey for a number of years the food is amazing everytime. Vegan options are delicious and I am spoilt for choice. The people that work there are the loveliest people always kind, smiling and ask how I am doing. Sometimes I get to try new things they have made and they are really happy for the feedback. Couldnt recommend them highly enough!

Read moreI had missed fish and chips since becoming vegan and there homemade tofish and chips really hit the spot! I also had the homemade tartare sauce too (also vegan).
Lots of other vegan options that I’m keen to try next time and clearly displayed.
It’s a family run business and there daughter is vegan they really understand veganism.
They make lots of the vegan options themselves! Also they are famous for their “Shakey Shakey” spices which they also make themselves and is available to buy in store or add into your chips.
The service is second to none, charming couple that had all the customers in stitches even though they were super busy.
Will be back soon!
So I came back and this time ate inside. This time I tried the beef-less onion pie and also a battered vegan sausage. Both were excellent! Wonderful service and lovely food!

We made a special trip to Ramsgate to try Shakey Shakey for lunch. I’m not one for eating vegan versions of meat, but thought we should give this a try.
Read moreIt was really great. We ordered two Vegan Fish and Chips (they have a large vegan menu to choose from) and it came with a complimentary Turkish salad and vegan Tartare sauce and we had an extra mushy peas.
The portions were more than generous, so much so, we didn’t eat for the rest of the day.
The “fish” is marinated tofu wrapped in seaweed and coated in a tasty batter.
The people who run it are super nice and friendly and the place is truly “Fish and Chip Shop”
All of the vegan food is cooked separately and has its own dedicated fryer.
The owners daughter has a fully vegan Shakey Shakey in Brick Lane London.
Throughly enjoyed the experience.
Pros: Great “fish” and chips. Lovely owners.
Cons: Not fully vegan.

They started with a vegan day, added a day and due to high demand it's now 3 days. The food is amazing, everything always tastes fresh and delicious. The staff are so friendly. When someone comes in for real fish, they sometimes get given a sample of vegan fish or whatever meat substitute to try and I've always seen their faces in awe it's vegan, complimenting them on the food's deliciousness! Visit on a vegan day and you won't be disappointed.

Good range of vegan options; nice to have reassurance that everything is cooked separately in 'clean' oil. Very friendly proprietor who is obviously keen to cater for vegans and vegetarians. Great to have this as a local chippy.

It's so nice to know with certainty that the chips you are eating, are completely vegan. The chips were very large and chunky with huge portions between us. Definitely order less then you want! I tried the vegan fish cake with my chips which was very fishy indeed, even fooled my meat eater brother!
