Enjoyed the food but not the staff

I visited Shaka twice, no doubt the food is tasty but the staff give me a feeling of being unwelcome. Cooking time seemed a little long too. That said the food is great, especially the lasagne. Keep in mind they have a morning and afternoon menu only.

Pros: Tasty and fresh, Many options, Well presented

Cons: Staff unwelcoming, slightly arrogant, Slow cooking times, Expensive

Great food. Not 100% vegan.

Ate here a couple of times. Food was great but staff tried to convince us that food was 100% vegan. One staff member told us that they use milk, honey, yogurt, bee pollen. Another told us that they are 100% vegan. When we ordered coffee, cow milk was the only milk available. Made it difficult to trust what is vegan and what isn't.

Pros: healthy, tasty food

Cons: not vegan, staff dont understand vegan

Yes!!

Hurray, a 100% vegan restaurant in Bohol! We need that, I need that! I was so happy to find it. They have delicious options, really enjoyed eating here and came back another time. Nice sitting area, good vibe.

Yet, much room for improvement.

I loved the lasagna, although it was half-cold. The smoothies were great, the coffee wasn't (no need to put adventurous herbs in coffee, it's good as it is). Burger was good too, taste-wise, although some thought needs to be put in structure (when you bite on it, it entirely falls apart, squeezed out on both sizes... try flour or egg replacement!). I lived for quite a while in Brazil and can confirm that the acai they advertise isn't actually acai (or well, maybe there some traces in it, but it's definitely not how the product is served, bom dia).

Just keep developing, keep growing better by the day. It's still better than all other options in Bohol, which I tried one by one.

Pros: All vegan, Good vibe

Cons: Food needs a bit of improvement (in details), Quite pricey, Some staff members could be friendlier

Very nice almost vegan place

Most of the stuff here is vegan (they serve bee pollem) and the staff knows the ingridients well. The smoothies are quite large and very tasty! Smoothie bowls are good but could be a bit larger. The burgers are very good as well and come with a side salad or fries, which makes a very filling meal.. Only woth for aome more healthier options, but still a decent place and a must go for vegans!

Pros: Almost everything is vegan or coyld be made vegan, Smoothies are very good!

Awesome vegan burgers ! though not a fully vegan place as categorised in this app

The burgers are great. So are the fries.
The Vietnamese noodle salad was a bit disappointing though they reduced the price for it due to lacking one or two ingredients.

Pros: plenty of vegan options.

Cons: it's not a vegan place but rather a vegetarian one

Ten out of Ten!

We ate in shaka several times during our seven day stay in Panglao. We kept coming back for more! The food was exceptional, so tasty.

We tried every burger on the menu!! The sloppy josé and wak wak were our fave. The choc cake is delicious as well.

The staff were so lovely. The setting is very Melbourne; boho and chic.

Traveling with my mom who is not a vegan but she really enjoyed the food too.

So so so happy to have found such a vegan gem in the Philippines. Made our week!

Great concept, food needs work!!

Located directly on the main road before turning down towards alona beach 200 metres away, this restaurant is ideally located in a very touristy area. The idea of providing an all vegan eatery is fantastic but the food fell at some of the lower hurdles. My partner had the Sloppy Jose burger which was tasty but the dressing lacked flavour and the humongous slab of overly sweet pineapple masked the good flavours trying to sneak out. The patty was good by itself but the meal was overcomplicated. The Sawadee Kaa burger was an extremely bland chick pea patty, saved slightly by the decent Thai dressing but the "burger" was an open sandwich on extremely tough and crispy French bread. The thick, fresh cut chips, tossed with rosemary and not overly salted however were lovely. We also had a tropoloco smoothie and an island dream smoothie. Both were lovely and thick and filled us well before the food arrived. It's the only restaurant of its kind around, so it's always busy, so be prepared to wait for your food a while as we waited for 45 mins from order to arrival of food time.

Pros: Good vegan choices , excellent location and concept

Cons: expensive for what it is and the area, bland food

Nice Option

We were very excited to come here based off of the raving reviews, everything was good but honestly wasn’t INCREDIBLE. I liked the many “burger” options but they are more so like open face sandwiches. The Mumbai and Swadee Khab are what we ordered - creative recipes but just lacking in basic flavors like salt and pepper. My favorite part was actually the side salad full of fruits and veggies but the lettuce was wilted/soggy. We were very impressed by the craft beer selection but unfortunately none of them were available. I was also really looking forward to ordering their vegan spin on adobo (jackfruit) but they were also out of rice, so we ended up ordering the Mumbai instead. The carrot cake was also very bland and hard. At the end I saw some specials on the board and wondered if maybe we should’ve tried those! Were going to come back again for another try :) we really appreciate the options and intentions, especially in the area! Excited to come again! The smoothie bowls look amazing!!!

Pros: Service , Completely vegan

Cons: Not too fresh , Lacking flavor

The Best

This is my favorite vegan resto in the Phils, by far. If I were in Bohol, I would go all the way to Alona just to eat here. I promise you, if you like raw/vegan foods, you will probably not be disappointed. (BTW, my new fav places in the Phils are Live Life in Manila ((Makati)) and Live in SM Mandario Iloilo.

Pros: Interior design, Raw foods, Presentation and serving dishes

Cons: Not super cheap (but worth it), They only have 1 in the Phils, Uh, can't think of anything else

Great place!

We were 5 people and ordered several dishes. I think all of them were delicious!
They serve honey, and I think they also server dairy-yogurt (although I may have misunderstood their accent) - so do make sure before ordering

Pros: Taisty, Rare

Veggie burgers that don't fall apart after one bite

This place has a great selection of interesting veggie burgers all of which are vegan. I tried three and they were all tasty and held together well like a good burger should.
The fries on the side are lovely too.
The one disappointment was the flavourless cheesecake.
Still a great vegan option. Highly recommended.

Pros: Great burgers, 95% vegan

Cons: Cheesecake , Very warm inside.

great find

What a great find! They have a limited menu but they perfected what they offer up. We went everyday for breakfast because it was so good. Friends had the smoothie bowl which looked amazing but i had the island fruit, yogurt, quinoa, and homemade granola for 3 days straight. It was just so delicious and filling! Its been a while since ive found such nourishing food like oats, chia and the like :) I highly recommend this place before a day of exploring the island.

Ps. Location is incorrect on happy cow. Its located on the main strip/ highway

Pros: big portions, friendly staff, yummy

Cons: expensive

Expensive but nice food

They serve only burgers and bowls for breakfast. I went for dinner and the burger are from 250 to 280 and all the drinks are for at least 150, maybe f you just eat food the price can be ok for phillipines standars.
The food is good i like it, creaty dishes, a little bit too sweet the sauces maybe, and not too crunchy, but nice burgers overall, specially if ou haven't had a vegan burger in a while.

Pros: All vegan. A lot of options. Nice drinks options.

Cons: Too expensive for phillipino standars.
