Delicious! - Edit
My family is a mix of vegan and vegetarians, and we all find deliciousness here! I just tried the tofu scramble and was blown away by the flavor. SO tasty. The cauliflower appetizer is also delicious! They've got tons of items that can be either vegetarian or vegan, all clearly marked. You won't be disappointed :)

Meh - Edit
We used to love this place, but after our last visit, have no desire to return. There are far too many other good options in the area. The food here is ok, but very uninspired. They used to have great specials, but that seems like a thing of the past - it's like they changed chefs, and while they can make the menu, they can't invent anything new. Overpriced for what it is.

Check for dairy? - Edit
Had lunch there today with a vegan friend and now we are both feeling nauseous. We ordered all “vegan” options, but now I’m wondering whether they made a mistake. 🤢

Random service and food - Edit
Tired of the random service and food we get there. The service we just had was plain rude. It’s always a bit of a gamble as to the quality of the food. The food has never been anything more than ok, always overpriced. Choices over the years have been slim in Ann Arbor which is why I’ve continued to go there. Very disappointing treatment after 15 years of being a customer. They also don’t know and don’t care wether there alchohol is vegan/vegetarian. I’ve asked about this many times over the years and it’s always been a shrug of the shoulders. The good news is there are more and more great alternatives opening in the area.

A favorite! - Edit
We visit about once a week! Rotating menu always has great vegan options, and has "safer" vegetarian choices for non-vegan friends and family.

Delish but on pricey side (worth it) - Edit
I'm never disappointed in the food at Seva. We have gone for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have always left full and happy. A meal can get pricey quickly, especially if you order apps and drinks. Meals are big servings so may not need an app (but the yam fries and the bruschetta are too good not to try)!

Great art and vibe - Edit
I love this vegetarian joint for so many reasons. It has rotating art on wall display and some of it has been really notable. The vibe is eclectic and so is the menu. Many vegan options, clearly labeled and a great understanding of how to upgrade appropriate veg options to vegan. Drinks. Desserts. I like the ginger tea, shishito peppers appetizer, ceasar entre salad and bourbon and maple ice cream. The only thing I’d love to see are some more fresh options to upgrade cooked vegan dishes to raw. My whole omnivorous family is happy to meet me at Seva.

Expensive but A+ - Edit
This place is super expensive but their portions are good and their tempeh burger and yam fries are simply to DIE for. Not everything is vegan but most everything is or can be substituted somehow, just make sure to specify. Would recommend, but not if you’re on a budget.

Nice Restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere - Edit
Seva is a solid vegetarian restaurant with a large and varied menu. Food is generally very good. Service can be spotty with servers simply disappearing for long stretches. Desserts are good. Ann Arbor Restaurant Week is often and excellent time to visit at a good value. Delighted that they have the Impossible Burger / Beyond Burger on their menu. Will definitely continue to visit as part of my regular rotation of vegetarian / vegan friendly restaurants.

Large menu, tasty food, good service - Edit
I'm traveling for work and Seva is within walking distance of the hotel - and I'm so glad! The restaurant is in a strip mall, but you wouldn't know it from the inside - it has a warm feel and is nicely decorated.
Read moreMy non-veg colleague and I split an order of general tso cauliflower bites and we both really liked them - the sauce was excellent ("it actually tastes like general tso's," my colleague said) and then texture was perfect - nice and crispy. He enjoyed his vegetarian Ruben, and I had a bowl of lemongrass coconut soup that was creamy and flavorful.
Daiya is the vegan cheese of choice here. Menu notes all vegan and gluten-free options, and also notes what modifications can be made to veganize many of the vegetarian dishes.
I also tried my first ever "blue moon" ice cream (apparently this is a Michigan thing?), and while I'm not a fan of the flavor, I appreciated the vegan option of a local ice cream flavor.
All in all a good experience!

Truly amazing and delicious - Edit
Seva is in such a nice location with a lot of seating and has extremely easy parking! The food is absolutely amazing! I had their tempeh burger with yam fries and it was honestly the best burger I've ever had. Not the best veggie burger, but the best burger I've had in my life. (I am only a few months vegan) I definitely reccomend this place! It was so clean and the staff was very nice! It's a place for everyone and is perfect for a date or a family outing. I 100% reccomend eating here if you want some delicious vegetarian/vegan food. The portion sizes are very generous, there's no way you could leave hungry. I also had the chocolate mousse for desert and it was delicious and rich! I can't stop thinking about the amazing burger and I would eat there regularly if I lived in the area!

huge delicious portions - Edit
The restaurant was gorgeous modern and clean.
Read moreOur favorite item was the vegan Veracruz. It had tofu, pinto beans, guacamole, tomatoes salsa, Daiya cheez and was served on a crispy tortilla. The spices were perfect. We also loved the Vegan Pizzadilla. It was two whole wheat tortillas filled with spinach, mushrooms, soy sausage, and basil cashew pesto. It was in the appetizer section but was more than one could eat even as an entree.
The only disappointment was my husband's Reuben. It didn't have tempeh in it as every other veg Reuben he has tried. It was just huge amounts of sauerkraut with tomatoes and Swiss cheese on bread. He did however like the sweet potato fries and sauce that came with it.
My son said his Mac and cheese was amazing.
Entrees are 10-14 and the serving sizes were generous.
Pros: gorgeous atmosphere (perfect for a date), perfectly seasoned, friendly service
Cons: Reuben needs tempeh

Not Bad Overall - Edit
I've eaten at Seva a number of times, and I'm sure I'll be back. However, there is some room for improvement. The service can be a little slow at times: on one occasion I had to wait quite a while for a table even though there weren't many people ahead of me. (That was at their old location, however.) One dish I ordered, some kind of squash soup, was very spicy even though it wasn't advertised as such on the menu. Other dishes have also been spicier than I would have liked, so now I make sure to ask before ordering anything new. Service is average; prices are on the high side for what you get.

Best vegetarian food in Ann Arbor - Edit
Used to go here regularly. Really good food. I used to bring leftovers for a dorm mate that thought was anti-vegetarian and he liked it. Got my Dad to finally try vegetarian food at Seva. The comedy club downstairs is a lot of fun too!

Seva: An Ann Arbor classic - Edit
Seva...where to start. My mother has been going to Seva since it opened in 1973, and I have been going since I could articulate my vegetarianism, around 1990, and obviously it is an Ann Arbor landmark. The food is delicious and I've tried everything on the menu that's vegan. They've finally started using daiya cheese (five years ago, before I was vegan, the staff didn't know whether the cheese they were using had rennet in it or not...I didn't ask during my last visit but I imagine this has been remedied, as the menu now advertises that there is an "answer book" in the restaurant) and that opens up a lot of menu options for vegans. The vegan nachos are great, and of course the sweet potato fries are amazing. My favorite dishes are the north african couscous and the tempeh burger with daiya and vegan pesto...delicious!
Read moreWhile obviously some changes to the menu have been made since 1973, it would be great to see Seva expand their menu to include more items with tempeh and add seitan into the mix. I love Seva but I have had everything on the menu and I wish there was something new to try! (I know they have a weekly specials menu, but there doesn't ever seem to be anything exciting on it.)
Service is friendly, and the frozen margaritas (on special on Mondays) are some of the best I've ever had. There are also great drink specials through the week, PBR pints for a dollar on Wednesday and others that I don't remember.
All in all, Seva is a great restaurant and a must-visit for anyone visiting Ann Arbor or who lives there and hasn't been.
Pros: delicious food, happy staff, ann arbor staple
Cons: menu could use a big shake up

This is not a bad restaurant. And they've been around forever. The food is not bad, but nothing to write home about. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I've had some good meals here but would advise you to eat at Earthen Jar instead (which is only 50 yards away).

When visiting Ann Arbor recently I ate here with my toddler and my parents and we were all very satisfied. I had the soup special, a veggie reuben and a lemonade. All were great. The kids menu was more diverse than average and the waitress knew to bring his meal out early. My father is not a vegetarian and really enjoyed his meal as well. I would go back if ever in Ann Arbor. As a vegetarian who is allergic to soy I found the menu especially friendly which isn't the case at most veggie restaurants.

I really like the food at Seva. I have been here quite a few times, and I would say my favorite items are the vegan sandwiches. The sweet potato fries are good but the dipping sauce is not vegan. I did not like their brunch menu, although I only had brunch there once and it was a long time ago.

Unusually delicious guacamole, amazing vegan desserts, and unique, exquisite specials. Two of my top five meals ever happened at Seva! If you frequent the joint, however, you might find yourself running out of new options quickly (especially if you're vegan)-- so be sure to always check the daily specials!
