Tasty and affordable gyoza - Edit
If you're bad at Japanese they also speak a little bit of English which is good (the owner is Taiwanese).
Read moreThey have some vegetarian and also vegan options availiable and would kindly ask which one are you interested in.
The price is quite affordable and the gyoza taste so good (I had a set of 10 vegan gyoza). The service is really good.
The only cons I find is that the restaurant is pretty small so you can't go with a large group of people, but for going alone or with one friend is totally nice and recommendable.
Pros: Tasty, good variety of flavours, affordable
Cons: The place is a little bit small

Nice Gyoza, but space could be more comfortable - Edit
The Gyoza were all vegan and nice. As others said, she asks you whether you are vegan and how hungry you are. Then she recommended us a plate with 20 mixed gyoza (we were 2 ppl). Each of us also got a tea and a soup, and we payed 2200¥ in total, which is OK I guess.
Read moreOnly minus, the place is really small, only three tables in a row with 2 available seats each, so if you come with more then 2 people you won't be able to sit at the same table. The lightning is really bright, not so cozy, and the chairs are not so comfortable.
In my opinion not a place to spend several hours eating, drinking and chatting with friends. But having some nice gyoza alone or with one friend, it's worth a visit.
Pros: delicious vegan gyoza, friendly old lady
Cons: not so cozy to hang out for a longer time, really small shop, only bring maximum 1 friend!

Really great Gyoza - Edit
We enjoyed eating in this place a lot! The food is great and the variety of Gyoza is super interesting. They taste just amazing and the owner is super friendly! Only negative point is that it's quite small, but therefore it has a bit of a living room atmosphere.

Pork gyoza mixed in a vegan plate. - Edit
We had eaten here a couple times before and enjoyed the food, but on our last visit there must have been a break down in communication between the owner and kitchen staff as they served us a plate including pork gyoza (despite presenting it as vegan as they placed it in front of us. We had no reason not to trust the staff and ended up biting into what was unmistakably meat. At first he owner thought we must have mistaken fake meat for the real thing but after trying it for herself she realized the mix up. She offered to make a fresh batch but we were already feeling a little sick to our stomachs at this point and so excused ourselves and left. Both staff members were certainly apologetic but it really soured our impression of this place.

Cons: Mix up could have been even worse with allergies.

Excellent Gyoza - Edit
This small restaurant had incredible Gyoza. You simply walk in, let the owner know that you would like vegetarian gyoza and how much you want to eat. You’ll be then cooked up a fantastic meal full of different types of vegetarian gyoza depending on the season. The food was incredible and the owner was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend this spot.

Great - Edit
Very sweet lady who operates this place - she is super nice! The selection of veg dumplings offered were a mix of black bean and some other vegetable that was very tasty. The black bean aren’t my favourite type of gyoza, but definitely a good meal to try.

Expensive Taiwanese Vegan Option - Edit
The owner of this restaurant is very sweet and accommodating. She completely understands vegan restrictions and immediately asks if you are vegan / vegetarian and how hungry you are. You have no say in what you’re ordering, since she is the only one in the kitchen and doesn’t speak much English. This was totally fine with us! My partner and I ended up receiving 10 dumplings each and it was way too much food for me. Not very heavy, but still a lot of food. We expected to pay around ¥1100 each for our food because the set of 6 dumplings were marked as ¥650. But once we got our bill it was around ¥2900. A lot of money for the quality of food here, nonetheless a good vegan option!

Friendly owner - Edit
I live really close to this restaurant so it was a great find and the owner is welcoming and personal. She will sit you down and ask how hungry you are, then suggest an amount of dumplings based on what you say. I’ve had different dumplings each time and just let her get on with it, don’t really press for anything and she just makes what she wants but it’s always been delicious.

Casual, Friendly Gyoza Shop - Edit
If you are a fussy eater or like a fine dining experience - don't come here. If you like to be adventurous and try something different I highly recommend this place!
Read moreWe walked in, luckily there was space (it is a very small space) and a lovely lady popped out of the kitchen. She asked if we were vegan or vegetarian and if we were hungry. We answered her and off she went again. Listening to her cook whilst looking at all the interesting posters on the wall and sitting at the plastic table made me feel as though I was elsewhere in Asia (not in commercial Ikebukuro). After a little while she came out again with two plates of beautiful, colourful gyoza. They were all coloured with different natural ingredients and had different fillings!
It was a delicious meal! Perhaps a little on the expensive side but I felt like we were entering her home and the dishes had been prepared with love and passion - so really not expensive if you consider that!
Pros: Interesting food, Owner speaks English, Unique atmosphere for Tokyo
Cons: Small

Not cheap at all, and not special - Edit
Beware of the prices at this place, there's no way this is only 1 dollar sign. A plate of 6 dumplings costs 650¥ (which we hadn't realized when we first sat down), but the lady there suggested we each take a plate of 10, a sample platter, if we were hungry. Given the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere of the place (very small sitting area, all plastic, bug on the wall and a sneezing chef) and our experiences with other gyoza places in Japan, we didn't think it could be that expensive and decided to go with the lady's recommendation. Do make sure you ask for the prices though. While we were waiting, the chef asked if we liked beans, and when we said we did, we had apparently ordered another plate (whereas I was thinking she was asking about our preferences for the gyoza filling), an appetizer with three small soy rolls and some soy meat, and before we got them we heard a suspiciously microwave-sounding ding from the kitchen.
Read moreFast forward, we had the appetizer and two plates of 10 gyoza each, getting ready to pay - it's 3000¥! This is for lunch! The sample platter was 1100 each (not on any menu), the appetizer was 580, and tax was added on top. I spent less at Ain.Soph, and they are pricey already. I'm still angry that I didn't stop to check the price, and the dumplings were pretty mediocre too, so it's not even like I feel the money was a good investment.
So, if you do decide to go, make sure you check what you are ordering and how much it will cost you, and don't forget that it's not tax-inclusive.

Excellent Service, great hospitality, peaceful ambiance! - Edit
I came across Senjo online and was curious since many people have praised it's gyoza very highly. Took my good friend with me in the evening time, and man it was perfect! Super quiet and both the ladies were very sociable with us! We enjoyed the chat and really loved the rich flavor of the gyoza! Health is wealth and these ladies are SUPER RICH.
Read moreWhile many people have mentioned the place being small, yes it is. However, I think that's what makes this place feel so much more homey and less like a noise infested bar. The food could be enjoyed thoroughly without disturbance.
Pros: Incredibly sociable owners, and hard working!, Very quiet and hospitable., Savory and very rich tasting gyoza, all vegan!

Small but great! - Edit
Only about 8 seats max but one of the best meals I had in Japan. Had the vegan dinner set (¥750) which was so good. The set items change every day, as the lady there cooks to order depending on your requirements, they are well aware of vegan and vegetarian requirements! Had about 6 assorted dumplings, these amazing cooked lotus roots, soup, and rice. Such a great meal!!

Amazing home made food! - Edit
I came here tonight with a friend and it was absolutely delicious! The owner is such a sweetheart and was very keen to explain what everything was so we knew for sure what we were eating. We got a huge amount of food in the dinner set; 5 dumplings, rice, stir fry dish with fake meat and beans, pickled veg, soup and a sesame soup for dessert. Especially appreciated in Tokyo as portions tend to be small here! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who comes to Tokyo!

Honest, good, delightful - Edit
We wandered over to this small restaurant not knowing what to expect during our first time in the area. We were surprised to discover this tiny dumpling shop which is a diamond in the rough!
Read moreWhen we arrived we were immediately asked if we were vegetarian; specified vegan (no egg). We ordered the 750 yen set meal which comes with 5 assorted dumplings, rice, soup, and one dish. The dumplings were amazing and you can immediately tell they're homemade.
I should mention that the seating area is very narrow so it would be difficult for parties greater than 2 people. There are 6 total seats.
Overall, one of our least expensive yet most satisfying meals during our 2-week travel in Japan!

Tasty dumplings - Edit
Found this place with the Happy Cow app and decided to give it a try. It's tiny and unassuming (seats only six people at a time!) but the dumplings are all handmade from scratch and quite tasty. The owner is very friendly and speaks excellent English. The vegetarian set (make sure to specify no egg) came with rice, pickles, ginger soup, stir-fried veggies, 5 large dumplings and dipping sauce. If you're in a hurry and want something quick, filling, and inexpensive, this hits the spot.

Hidden gem! - Edit
What a relief to find this place through this site, and just around the corner from where I was staying at the sakura hotel. They do a lot of "mock" meats which really concerned me to begin with when I saw the mock bacon (which looked similar to quorn bacon in england but I thought surely not here in Tokyo??), but they assured me it was not meat and was actually seaweed based, which was backed up by my meat eating friends saying it didnt have the taste or texture of meat and turned out quite nice, they also made me a vege friendly vegetable bowl of soup, I ended up ordering more of the dumplings for my lunch the next day before I left! She has run the shop for 10 years now and has had lots of vege customers so understands our requirements, also asking me if I ate egg which helped convince me there would not be hidden meat or fish, worth dropping in!
Read morePros: Good range of dumplings, Seem to understand vegetarian diet, Cheap!
