Good food not great dinning experience - Edit
We were there for lunch. We asked and received an English menu. When we were ready to order the waitress told us they do not serve from that menu for lunch. She did not speak any English and asked diners from a near table to translate. The food was good. The place was full and it seems like they get slammed during lunch. We may have to go back there for dinner.

Delicious food at reasonable prices - Edit
Nice little place, not too fancy. Very friendly stuff. The food and drinks were delicious. We had a daily special: the bao bun burger with fries. And a curry with vegan duck, which was very good with a crunchy skin. Can 100% recommend!

just asian inspired dishes - Edit
Order Thai Basil but there was not one piece of Thai basil, or any basil in this dish. Way too salty, which is maybe a German thing. Staff were friendly. Portions good size.

Lots to choose from. Food was good but to me nothing out of the ordinary. Friendly staff who don’t speak much English but are very accommodating nonetheless.

Great if you like Asian food - Edit
Very central but far from the tourist area is this cozy place. The waitress was very friendly and recommended vegan options, because the menu is not 100% vegan. If you like Asian food, this is your place. It's not my case!

Tucked away from the tourists - Edit
Location is good if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist spots in the area.
Read moreThe mushroom bowl was fantastic, just beware that most of the ingredients come out steaming hot!
The dim sum was tasty, but the exterior came apart a little too easily and stuck to the basket.
I waited a long time for the bill, despite the place being nearly empty, but fortunately I was in no rush!

Nice asian food - Edit
We had the vegan duck and finger food. Duck was very delicious. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Vegan options are clearly indicated and the staff knows the difference. They also have vegan lassi. Quite and simple place.

A lot of options here on the menu from a variety of Asian cuisine. I had a tofu Pad Thai which was quite good and satisfying. I dined outside, as the sun was setting. Good service, plenty of seating (inside and out). Would love to visit here again to try the other dishes next time I’m in Berlin!

Affordable Vietnamese with Massive Menu - Edit
I went here with a friend for dinner. There were quite a lot of tables and quite empty when we arrived around 7pm.
Read moreThe decoration was minimalistic and modern rather than cozy. There were wooden tables and chairs and some Asia-inspired pictures on the walls.
It was really difficult for me to choose what to eat because the menu was huge! There were so many different categories of dishes and things to choose from. In the end I went for Green Curry with baked vegan chicken (11,50€), which was a good choice because it tasted really well. Before that I had the baked wan-tan (5€) as a starter and they were also nice, although I wish there would've been more sweet and sour sauce.
The service was ok, nothing extraordinary.
Be aware that this place is not 100% vegan. According to the menu they offer mango lassi with cow milk, and if you'd like you can add eggs to dishes 34, 36 and 37.
Despite of this Savory Chay gets five stars from me because of the yummy food, affordable prices and huge selection of vegan dishes.

Great a for a lunch / Perfekt für Mittagessen - Edit

Vegan again, great food - Edit
I had the lemongrass tofu, udon noodles and they were excellent and decently priced. Would definitely go back. I think this restaurant used to not be vegan, but both times I went the menu was entirely vegan and it says vegan on the door so am not clear.

Huge fried egg on my "vegan" dish - Edit
They served me a whole egg on-top of my vegan dish. And I think, maybe, they fed me chicken before.
Read moreI thought I'd found my go-to spot for lunch near-by the office. There's not many vegan-friendly options in this area, but Savory Chay literally had "vegetarian" and "vegan" written on their building, so I figured it was the safest bet in the area.
They even have a whole page in their menu titled "vegan specials". I picked one from it, pointed to it, ordered it. I double-confirmed with them that it was vegan. I'm 100% sure there was no message lost in translation because he said, "yes, that can be made vegan."
What came out was a dish of veggies & fried tofu surrounding a small pile of rice. On-top of the rice was a huge fried egg. I was shocked. I pointed to it and said, "vegan, vegan!" The waitress (who spoke broken english, and I don't speak German) said "vegan no egg" -- I wasn't sure if it was a question or a statement. Does she really not know what vegan is?
She disappeared for about 60 seconds and came back with my food. My best-guess is the egg went straight to the trash and I got the same plate back again.
They literally have "vegan" written on their wall, but they don't know what vegan is?
Yesterday I ordered vegan pho. There was tofu in it, but one piece of tofu looked surprisingly similar to chicken. I ate it without questioning because, well, I've eaten a lot of mock meats at 100% vegan restaurants before, and I took the benefit of the doubt.
But if they serve you egg and don't realize it's vegan, could it be that their vegan pho uses animal stock? Do you think they use separate cooking surfaces & utensils? I mean, if they gave me food with an egg on it, then gave me the plate sans egg, I doubt this restaurant has the slightest idea of what veganism is.
Well, after all, they do serve dead animals to hungry humans..
Pros: friendly
Cons: served egg on "vegan" dish, wasteful, non-comprehension of the vegan philosohpy

A great local Asian vegan cuisine place - Edit
Such a great little place. Very “local”, laid back. Very friendly service. The homemade sodas are a must (we had ginger lemon, thumbs up). Dumplings and fried wontons were lovely. Perfect amount for a starter. For the entree I had the avocado salad - very good and generous portion. GF had curried seitan duck, also very good. There are lots of other dishes we want to try so we’ll definitey be back again during this trip!
