Great atmosphere, delicious food, amazingly friendly iwners

We took a taxi here for RM 25 and it was more than worth it. Smiley, friendly and helpful staff / owners, a delicious range of all vegan food from salads, burritos and yummy local nasi lemak to brownies and lemon cake. Genuinely caring owners with great ethics and a determination to spread the vegan love in Malaysia. Worth frequenting and supporting...we would if we lived in KL.

Pros: Deliciousness comes to KL

As I am sitting here...

... I want to cry because tonight I am leaving KL and I just discovered this place. Every time I eat at a vegan place I think it is the best and then I find that I am mistaken. This restaurant is the definition of perfection. Their food is amazing, I don't know how to describe it. Please go here, this is superb!!!!

We had the Malaysian curry burrito (with hericium mushrooms that taste sooooo much like chicken it's unreal) from the special board, a mexican style burrito with jack fruit, tempeh and all the trimmings. We also had the peanut butter and banana smoothie which was like drinking a cake. And then peanut butter brownie and ice cream.

Lucky is my boyfriend as he is staying in KL for a few more days and will get to try a few more things off their menu, I am so jealous @#$%!

EAT HERE. This is one of those places that you go to and wish you'd spent the last 10 years massively overeating and stretching your stomach, so that you could eat it all over again straight away.

UPDATE:

Every time we are in KL, we make sure to go here. Its has been at least 4 times now and as soon as I have a holiday, I'll make sure to go to Sala again. They have a new menu with even more options! Also, please do yourself a favour and try the pecan bar, it will blow your mind and your tastebuds.

Hoping the other dishes will impress more

The giant burritos were satisfying but lacking a little in freshness and taste. I like the use of mushroom asada for an umami punch. The nasi lemak was fine, but the soy latte I really didn't like. Hoping to try a nourish bowl or the curry laksa next time I'm there.

Pros: Huge burritos

Cons: Could taste better

My FAVOURITE in KL

Okay, full disclosure, a good burrito is my favourite and Sala does one hell of a burrito. Every time we go here, I say I am going to try something new off their menu but then the siren call of the burrito wins again. I get mushrooms and tofu and it’s always delicious. The mushrooms are so hearty and have a nice chew to them. A single burrito is unbelievably filling. I almost always over eat here and then stumble out in a food coma. If you are like me, vegan and love Mexican, then Sala is for you.

Pros: All vegan Mexican food, The best vegan place in KL (IMO), Tasty and filling

Cons: Ordering at the counter can be slow for big group, Often busy with limited seating

Such friendly guys...great place!

It is really like a vegan, burrito-subway. I was going to order a taco but they recommended the larger burrito for me. Pretty much asked them to put everything in there. Wow. it was filling! Did not quite finish it. The jackfruit and tofu were both good but probably should not have gotten them both together. Really tasty and haven't come across anything else quite like it, yet. They also have a lot more on their menu and even some kombucha. Liked this place a lot. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Build your own burrito - What's not to like?, Pricing really competitive for what you get, Kombucha!

Cons: Could do with more of a "set" menu, Premises could do with some sprucing up

I love the vegan burrito here! The portion is huge! The tempeh and chili are just soooooo yummy!!!!

Too bad for the time I went the local delights like curry laksa and Nasi Lemak were gone.

Definitely would love to come back again!

BURRITO BONANZA!!!

if you are a burrito or tex-tex enthusiast this is the place to check out. They have mouth watering burritos that range from Nasi-Lemak to Mushroom Asada. The brownies as very much appreciated, moist and delicious. You have to order two or three because they are quite small and will leave you craving for more. Burritos are fully stuffed and packed to perfection. Unfortunately they don't give you much of the chips with the burrito. Overall they have an excellent variety of food and the staff is enthusiastic and quite charming.

Pros: Big Burrito , Variety , Dessert (especially the brownies)

Cons: very little chips with burrito

My favourite vegan place in KL!

So glad I found this gem and that it delivers to my place via GrabFood! Everything I have tried so far is delicious. My favourite is the burrito bowl- the tempeh and jackfruit are amazing, and the cheese sauce is SO delicious. A little piece of vegan heaven in KL! Also must try the brownie heated up with ice cream on it!!

Current FAVOURITE vegan place in KL!

I've been here countless times and I think I've most probably tried almost everything on the menu and loved it!

Burritos, tacos, gazpacho, nasi lemak, laksa, nourish bowls, bagels - they're all good. My firm favourite is currently the Dhall Chawal bowl.

The service staff are friendly, ever smiling and always willing to help.

Fauzi must be one of the most passionate vegan restaurant owners I've ever met in my life. You can see how he puts so much love into everything at Sala. And he's always introducing something new, so just ask them if they have any specials of the day even though it's not on the menu. Once, he even made a raw tacos for me even though it wasn't Tacos Tuesday. Love love love!

I've brought many friends here and they are all full of praise for the food.

Highly recommended for both vegans and non-vegans.

Pros: Delicious food, Lots of specials - just ask, Fully vegan

Best restaurant in town nothing comes close.

Fully vegan, Mexican, but you can get different salads if you don’t like Mexican. Listen, I’m addicted to this place. I’ve been traveling all over the world for the last six months eating only vegan and this is my favorite. The burrito wrap is build your own and they have different kinds of mock meat. They also have tacos. They have different Kambucha flavors in the fridge, they have vegan deserts. Staff is super cool and friendly and quick. Prices are reasonable. I would come here every day if it wasn’t on the other side of town.

Pros: Best vegan food in town.

Cons: I wish they had a chain of the stores

Some of the best Vegan I've ever had

Just had a great meal at Sala. Took the whole family (kids ages 6, 3 and 1). The kids devoured their burritos and so did we. They also had some amazing vegan ice cream that we loved.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The flavors and food were great. We are from Southern California and have eaten a lot of mexican food and this place holds up to any of them. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. This place is a must-eat while in KL.

Pros: Good variety, build your own bowl/taco/burrito concept, great staff

Pretty good

This restaurant is essentially a vegan version of Chipotle. I ate here during a brief visit to KL. The cab driver didn't know where the place was but he was able to find it with GPS. The atmosphere is quite inviting, especially upstairs, where they have the rug and cushions and stuff. The burritos were pretty good. They had some Mexican hot sauce (similar to Tapatio but not quite as hot). I also enjoyed the brownie. Overall, the food here is quite tasty, It will be even better if they add a few more options like onions, for example.

Great Burritos

Such a great concept creating your own burrito. Ours was jam packed full of rice, beans, veggies and sauce. Delicious and filling. Also had the falafel burrito. Nice, bright and modern interior. Helpful staff.

Delicious vegan food, wonderful owner!

Sala has an open kitchen, with a Subway-style 'build your own' burrito, salad or taco set up (choose a base, main, extras and toppings from a big range of options - there's a picture of the menu board in the photos).

The mushroom option (made from marinated shiitake mushroom stems) is my favourite - the mushrooms have the most incredible texture and depth of flavour. Very 'meaty'. I recently had the mushrooms in the new 'bagel burger' option that is/was recently being trialled. It's not on the printed menu yet, but is worth asking for. They have a few flavours of bagels (also available for breakfast) provided by a local supplier. I had an onion bagel and all together (with the mushrooms and loads of toppings including house-made vegan mayo) it was possibly the tastiest 'burger' I've ever eaten!

The nasi lemak is very good and includes two types of sambal and vegan (mushroom based) ikan bills (anchovies).

Chilli sin carne - the potato/carrot-based nacho cheese and vegan sour cream take the (already delicious) chilli to the next level.

Curry laksa - a big bowl of love. Last weekend I was told they have changed (improved) the recipe due to customer feedback - I thought it was good when I tried it (before the change) so I'm looking forward to trying it again. Also nice to know that customer feedback is taken on board.

Bliss balls and brownies are available for a sweet treat, as well as other cakes. The brownies are really good!

And finally, I can't finish this review without mentioning the owner, Fauzi, who is an incredibly friendly and passionate ethical vegan. He is incredibly hard working, and has such a great vision for Sala. This place really is one of a kind in KL. I honestly wish I lived nearer.

Pros: wonderful food, friendly staff, refreshingly different (in KL)

Amazing food and lovely staff!

We made the journey out here based on the previous review and we're very glad we did!
My boyfriend got the chilli and I got the large curry laksa (beware, when they say large they mean large and I couldn't finish it all!)
The chilli was very nice and I was happy to find some "traditional" food that had been veganised. The prices were decent, the chilli was RM9 and the large curry laksa was RM10 (regular was RM7) which is good for 100% vegan food in a capital city.
They also have a range of cakes/brownies which we have bought and we're looking forward to eating them later.
Last but not least the staff were all really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!
