Bagel and Cookie Heaven

Oh wow, Sable is amazing. Big range of bagels - I love the ones with pesto. The loaded fries are a HUGE portion, too much for me so either be very hungry or ready to share. And then there's the cookies....probably best I've had in the world, better than what I've had in London, Paris, New York, etc. Sable is sooo good. And they sell doggie biscuits!

Yummy bagels, coffee and cookies

Lovely spot. Tried their Marilyn bagel, coffee and chocolate chip cookie. The bagel was awesome and their cream cheese was sooo good! Definitely would come back to try the rest of the menu.

Best bagels ever

Rudy’s Smokehouse is the best bagel/sandwich I’ve ever eaten! I haven’t tried much of the new menu yet (the cauliflower fritter looks good). Milkshakes are amazing!! My only complaint is the cookies taste kind of strange and bitter.

Pros: Super tasty and filling, Best loaded milkshakes, Lots of exciting options

Cons: Only bagels here , Loud and small, Cookies aren’t the best

Deep Fried Lasagna!! 🤤🤤

This place was phenomenal! The environment, the staff and the vibe were outstanding. Next, I had the deep-fried lasagna and it was amazing. It came in a bagel bun and seasoned chips.

Additionally, I had the Snickers Monster Shake (Not making myself look good right now lol) and it was delicious as well.

Pros: Great food, Reasonably priced

Cons: Just outside of downtown (Not bad)

Worth the tram

I bad a basic everything bagel with regular vegan cream cheese which doesn’t sound like much but it’s hard to find that as a vegan so I was pumped. The cream cheese tasted just like you’d want it to, although they did cake it on there and I’m more of a thin layer person so I scrapped some off but other than that it was perfect. Hubs had the deep fried lasagna and he loved that. It also come with cream cheese which he wished he’d removed but still really good. The coffee was great and the snickers shake was excellent. The cookies are fantastic but intense. Tread lightly lol

I don’t get the hype

Tried Sable at both their Cremorne and Thornbury locations and I just don’t get the hype. The bagels aren’t the tastiest things I’ve had, which is odd because everyone rates them so highly. I had the avocado one with beetroot relish and added bacon, but still was very sweet?
They also just chucked blocks of the violife feta on there which was not very appealing.

I had a cookie as well as everyone rates them, but it was greasy and not as good as other cookie places I’ve had in the past.

I appreciate having an all vegan place, but it was very meh. #Veganuary

Pros: All vegan.

Cons: Expensive , Over hyped, Weekend surcharge

Never disappoints!

I agree that it is processed food but it tastes really good and worth a visit every once in a while. I’d be super happy to see a veggie overloaded bagels here - ones with veggie patties, beets, etc.

I’ve tried the Great Uncle Basil, Rudy’s smokehouse, JJ’s hot chick’n and they’re all very filling and worth the price.

The cookies are great too but it’s extremely sugary. That’s my only negative about this place.

Pros: Tasty, Quick Service, Accessible

Cons: Processed, Sugary

Incredible bagels!

This is the best, fully vegan breakfast and lunch stop in Melbourne. The bagels here are incredible, fully stacked and delicious! You can either build your own or go with one of their menu bagels. The cookies are also absolutely delicious! Sable also have a dinner restaurant that is about a 20 minute journey outside of the city but is 100% worth a visit!

Yummy bagels

The bagels were full of flavour and very filling. The one that I had (left in pic) had a little bit too much tomato sauce as you can see, but still great. The hot biscoff was amazing! Would definitely get it again

Wow, wow, wow!!!

We travelled about an hour to try this place and were not disappointed! Can't wait to find a reason to head back again. Both vegan and not vegan were pleased and so very full when we left. Great flavour and texture on the mock chicken. We ate up the bagels so quickly. Top pics of the visit were the Lil ceaser bagel and the loaded Biscoff cookie. Run, don't walk! ♡

Pros: Generous, filling portions of tasty af food!, A great variety of bagel based menu items., Lovely, friendly service. All vegan.

Cons: My spicy chicken bagel was dripping with oil and , not at all spicy. It was still delicious though., Over $60 for 2 bagels, 1 coffee, 2 cookies.

Cute

Came here two mornings in a row for breakfast with my partner.

Love the creativity of the menu; fun bagels options and fun drinks flavours.

All of the bagels we tried were very good but my fav things were the XO tenders and the biscoff chai.

Low quality bagels

For a bagel place you'd hope for a better quality of bagel. The food is aesthetically pleasing but lacking in taste. I don't know if the other reviews get swept up in the idea of this place, but I'd have to disagree with the general sentiment.

Just order the entire menu

Whether you go for the milkshake, the cookies, the bagels, or the tater tots, you'll surely enjoy their creations. Friendly staff, chill ambiance, great food. Couldn't ask for anything else, really. Not exactly healthy, but no one really thinks about that when reading bagels, right? The schnitzel bagel really surprised me, maybe better than the meat schnitzels I've had before going vegan. I could also have their sauces with any meal; really tasty. Sure, the dishes lool pricy, but they're a meal but themselves, even the cookies. Everything's very generously served, probably enough for two people.

Pros: Great taste, Creative options, Large menu

Cons: Tucked away, A bit expensive, Closes early

Let me tell you a fable of Sable

Located down a typical Melbourne laneway and around the corner from a stunning mural lies a splendid little eatery across from the rail lines. Service is friendly and quick, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is cosy and warm. Definitely recommend the Big Kev or Lil Ceaser!

All the mock meats are house made, and the staff are constantly working on improving the flavours of the bagels. 10/10

Pros: Great aesthetic , Friendly and engaging staff, Great coffee

Innovative and delicious

The service was friendly and food was delicious!
Had a Biscoff Milkshake (comes with half a cookie!), Meatball sub (amazing), gnocchi (sooo delicious). The gnocci was a perfect option without mock meat, and meatball sub was the perfect option with.
I'll be back for sure!

Pros: All vegan, Delicious , Filling

Cons: Expensive but so is all eating out.., Can't split bill by purchase

I really love coming here for lunch (particularly a boozy one) and I’m glad to see that Sable has opened a restaurant in Thornbury. I think a specialist vegan bagel cafe is a real asset to a city and they are very well done here. The menu had changed a bit when I came here a couple of times recently, which was nice to see. The Marilyn - a bacon and egg breakfast bagel- really hit the spot for me at 11am when I caught up with a friend for coffee. Incidentally my omni friend was not disappointed, even with the mock meats, although I’d semi-sneakily not told her it was a vegan cafe. More recently I had the Philly cheesesteak bagel and the fried chicken and cream cheese one, and both were pretty tasty and the mock meats weren’t bad. It’s true the bagels aren’t super cheap but the price is typical for a brunchy-type cafe.

By far the best bagels in Melbourne (vegan or not). Not only are the fillings awesome, the bagels themselves are actually the best! Often you go places and they only do good filling and meh bagels but sable is the full package

vegan bagels💘💘💘💗💞💞💞💞

lovely little spot! was really excited to try an all vegan bagel place but was honestly a little disappointed:/ i got the (gf) lox bagel &just felt like it was lacking a little flavour and wasn’t as stuffed as i thought it would be. the lox was a little weird (usually am a fan of like vegan lox made out of carrot but this was something different). also these are def not traditional bagels. feel like i would have enjoyed my bagel more if i got something more like an eggy/tomato action but idk. however, i did have one of the best gf/vegan cookies ever..it was macadamia & white chocolate and delicious🤌
