It's okay - Edit
we came before 5pm so we had coffee (good) and mocha cake (not that good). dinner was a pinnacle mock meat dish (good), cumin potatoes (good), dumplings 饺子 (good), and some stuffed tofu pocket (not good). the prices weren't worth it, but the ambiance wasn't bad and service is nice.

Delicious and aesthetic vegan food - Edit
Quiet place in the hectic city to rest and enjoy great vegan food. A bit more expensive but it’s worth it. So nice staff. The waitress sat down with me and we had a great talk. Highly recommended for vegans and all people who like cozy and fancy atmosphere and good food.

Deserts are nice - Edit
We went here in an afternoon, around 14:30, so we could only get the deserts, which was delightful. The chocolate cake is really rich and firm and the lemon mousse was spot on in taste. A bit on the pricy side, so we didn’t go back for food.
Read moreThe atmosphere was really nice though! Soothing music, calm and relaxed people. All smiling. I kind of wanna go back just because of that.

A haven for vegans! - Edit
What a delightful experience! Located on the 3rd floor in a large, bright room. The food was fantastic and focused on healthy plant-based with no onion, garlic, additives, mock meat and organic where possible.
Read morePlease disregard the below post about scamming. The staff and chef are just extremely passionate about veganism and genuinely interested in foreigners’ thoughts about it for their own learning, particularly as it is a very small but growing concept in China.
The waitress did sit down with me to chat ask but did ask if it was ok first. This is also partly because I was eating by myself, which as it is a bit of an unusual practice for Chinese, was trying to be nice and accomodating.
She also invited me to a tea ceremony, which is actually held on the second floor of the restaurant, every week or so. It is not a scam! It is 90rmb per person however I didn’t attend. They also host local vegan meet-ups and book clubs/readings there.
If you are a passionate vegan and want a healthy plant based meal, I encourage you to go and spread the positive vegan vibes!

Be very wary - Edit
The pizza was nice and the staff were friendly enough, but they wouldn't leave me alone; I was on my own, a blatant foreign tourist, and they kept asking me questions and wouldn't let me eat my food, then a random guy who apparently owned the place (not sure if true or not) actually invited himself to sit at my table!! I am a very sociable and chatty person but I considered this to be extremely rude and felt very uncomfortable. Not only that, he and another member of staff both tried to add me on WeChat and asked me to "come back for tea and to talk about veganism and to be taught how to make dumplings". At this point my alarm bells were going crazy and I immediately asked for a takeaway box and left.
Read moreIt's such a shame because I thought I had managed to find my little regular place to go and get vegan food, but I will certainly not be returning after this experience. Luckily I already knew about the tea scams here, otherwise I would most likely have taken them up on their offer as I'm a very trusting guy. Only been in Shanghai for a few days so I have a lot to learn but I'm just glad that I got out out there. So my recommendation, which really hurts because I love to give good feedback to vegan places, is to avoid at all costs.
The worst part is that they could well have been genuine, but you just cannot trust anyone here.

Great Food, Friendly Vegan Staff - Edit
I ordered the avocado pizza and really enjoyed it. While waiting for my food, I talked to a couple of the people who work there in English. They were very excited about veganism and glad to meet another vegan.

Afternoon tea / Lunch - Edit
Went here for afternoon tea, between 2-5 they don’t serve food! So we got hot chocolate and cake instead. The hot chocolate was so creamy and delicious and the cake was out of this world!

If Vegan - Edit
Incredible place and have had several dishes since moving to Shanghai. The look alike açaí bowls are really good even though they don’t serve them cold. The cheese quesadilla is really good. Also if you’re up for some dessert then the chocolate cake is good. If you’re peckish then the quinoa salad is a good snack. Another place where you can order off a tablet which is really nice and convenient.

Friendly staff, good food, clean and hygiene setting. Have been to this place almost a dozen times in little over a year and I always get the spring rolls! They recently added a few items in the menu which I’m yet to explore completely but the fried/spiced potatoes are pretty decent.

Yummy!!! - Edit
We ate here the three nights we were in Shanghai, it was that good. The owner who is also the matradee is on hand to help explain the dishes and has a reasonable grasp of English which helped me a lot. She also reviewed our order and let us know if we ordered two of the same I.e. two mushroom dishes, she even suggested we remove a couple of dishes because we ordered to much. I will be coming back to this place whenever I’m in town.

Very friendly staff - Edit
Was greeted by extremely friendly staff, one of which even took a seat and started chit chatting with me. The dishes were good and well prepared, I had a quinoa based dish and a many types of tofu kind of dish, but the star of the show was definitely the chocolate mousse cake. One thing that bothered me was the time distance between bringing one dish and then the next one, since it was obvious that they mix together and should be brought at the same time. I ended up finishing the quinoa and waited some more time until the tofu dish came, but at that point I had nothing to eat the tofu with anymore. Still, the staff was very nice and brought me a small bowl of rice as a compensation.

Cute, bright vegan eating - Edit
It’s nice to be greeted by flowers as you enter this establishment. Then you walk to the third floor, and everyone is a bit tired after the walk... but you will do it for the food!
Read moreThe menu is like most places these days, electronic via an iPad. Peruse the choices as you tap and slide through the options for drinks, salads, soups and cooked food. Dessert is cute here, but it looks too western for their menu... I suppose it matches the coffee?
Anyhow, aside from a few salads with quinoa and avocado thrown in... the menu is pretty Chinese. There is a ton to choose from, and even if you don’t speak Mandarin, you can figure out what you want by looking at the true to life pictures.
The smoothie was good, but like many beverages in Shanghai, not iced or cold. The salad and veggies were also tasty. However, I did feel this place was a little pricier than many other eating choices. It’s the price paid for vegan guaranteed eating?
Also, it is very bright in here and kinda warm.
The portions are not huge, they’re about sized for one person... but really, order a bunch and share!

Chinese style food for vegans - Edit
I have been here a couple of times and I really enjoyed it, the staff here are really lovely and they were so helpful. I loved the food here too, I don’t normally eat food like this so it was nice for me to try something a little be different. The location as well is very cute and I love the set up of the restaurant, the only real problem I have with this place is the portions sizes. I found that I had to order a couple of things to really make me feel full and satisfied which overall made it a bit more of an expensive experience. Do keep in mind though when you come here that it is a Chinese vegan styled restaurant so the food will be cooked in a Chinese style, don’t come here expecting a western menu. Many things will be cooked in oil and might not be heavily seasoned but again that’s just Chinese food and this is Chinese food made for vegans.

Delicious food, friendly waitresses! - Edit
Tried out If Vegan twice now and it's been great both times. The cumin tofu is soooo good. We are also fans of the Thai curry and the eggplant/edamame dish in a stone pot. The presentation of the food is clean and beautiful. The waitresses are very attentive, always filling up our water. And very friendly too, chatting to us in English when we're paying! Note: we did not like the quesidilla, felt like there was barely anything inside.

????????? - Edit
I really don’t understand the hype about this restaurant. The portions are RIDICULOUSLY small and it’s REALLY expensive for Chinese standards (between 40 and 60 yuan for a small portion). What the hell.... I had to go eat somewhere else because my plate was too small (and i paid 45 yuan for a freaking salad). The food was also not advertised as in the menu.... a real disappointment, don’t go there seriously. I would put 1 star if i could.

The reviews did not lie. If Vegan had the perfectly cozy atmosphere mixed with great attention to detail. The food was delicate and delicious, as well as beautifully presented. I would say compared to Vegetarian Lifestyle, If Vegan has slightly smaller portions (or so it seems). However, the dishes we ordered were all delicious. Not one that I would make comment about.
Read moreDessert is the one thing that also makes this place totally worth a visit. We had a chocolate mousse-like cake and an almond cream cake. Totally vegan and totally amazing!
Finally, it is important to comment on the attentive service. Shirley, our waitress, was particularly friendly.
We look forward to going again.
