美味かった!いつも!Rota, my one and only love forever. - Edit
I became vegan for over 7 years and I lived in Fukuoka. At the same time Rota Cafe opened and it was my absolute life saviour. I’d cook for myself everyday, but whenever friends wanted to go out with me, I brought them there. Everything always tasted so incredible fresh and good. I still long for the Karage almost everyday. Rota, I love u always. You where there when I needed u most!

High quality bento - Edit
We had the takeaway bentos, and they were delicious! Surprisingly filling and well priced. Definitely worth a pass if you’re in Tenjin. The restaurant interior is nothing spectacular, but we took the bento’s to ohorikoen 🌸

Sad update - Edit
We visited around 4 pm for dinner, knowing that online says 430 is last order before 6 pm closure. They said no food, only dessert orders. I was pretty bummed! We walked kids in the cold for dinner and dessert at this restaurant and had to figure out something last second. They would not accommodate food after 4pm. I would give zero stars honestly, but happy cow won’t allow. Such a disappointment! Maybe a language barrier? Anyway, I wish we hadn’t wasted taxi fare and freezing winter walking…

Good vegan restaurant - Edit
After reading all the great comments we almost were disappointet. The food and everything was good but not great. It was high quality and fresh and healthy but - at least for our taste - for 5 stars some spices were missing. For people who love natural, fresh food this is a good place to eat. But if you want some very special taste, you probably wont find it in here.
Read moreFor the quality of the food and the Japanese sizes prizes are okay, around 1.500 yen for a lunch menu.
Staff is really friendly, english menus are available, more space than you expect from outside and a really cute shop downstairs.

Fresh macrobiotic vegan food - Edit
A really cozy restaurant in Tenjin which features great vegan food. I tried their Doria which is a Japanese western-style rice casserole dish with a creamy white sauce. It looks very similar to baked Gratin. My companion tried the vegan hash with seasonal vegetables. Of course, we could not resist sharing the enticing parfait for dessert.

Absolutely wonderful - Edit
A very nice dining area upstairs and a decent amount of options. Lots of sweets and goodies. The vegan curry is very yummy (I got the large) and it was a very good amount of food. The soy latte with cheese cake was wonderful, you would never know it was tofu. And of course the soy ice cream was the best part. The dessert portions are small but just right after a big meal. Very easy to locate in the busy tenjin area, a good break from all the shopping areas.

a pleasant oasis in the centre of a big city - Edit
We had the vegan noodle salad (gluten free) and the vegetable curry, both from the summer menu. Both were simple, not strong in flavour. The vege croquette (an option with the curry) was just the right amount of crispy.
Read moreFor dessert we wanted to try the tofu cheesecake but they didn’t have any left so we shared a slice of the rice flour gateau chocolat instead. It was basic but nice enough.
We sat on the second floor by the window and were able to enjoy watching people pass by on the street below.
The first floor has a shop selling biscuits, pastas, sauces, amongst other things.
The people who work there were polite.
We decided on four out of five stars because everything was nice but not wow.

Average but good - Edit
The meals are good but not extraordinary. As the restaurant serves quit many tables, it seems more than a standard fast meal.

Comfy Cafe with All Vegan Food - Edit

Read moreLocated just next to the busy Tenjin area, Rota cafe is a great vegan restaurant to sit down to have a meal.
On the first floor is the cashier, takeout counter, and a shop area selling veggies and other groceries. The second floor is the main dining area. If you are dining in, the staff will take you to the second floor and you can order after you sit down. And you bring your receipt back to the cashier to pay.
The special burger tastes quite good. The burger includes a generous variety of veggies, and a patty made with tofu, veggies and millet. The vegan cheese is added for an extra 200 yen, which I would recommend. The burger set also comes with chips and salad.
The vegan fish besides the burger is good with its teriyaki sauce and mayo combination. The fish is deep fried to crispy. It would be even better if the texture is less mushy.
Rota cafe is one of the few places in Fukuoka where you can find vegan ice cream. This parfait is pretty great, though a bit overpriced. Other than the ice cream, it has a slice of chocolate cake on top. Don’t miss it if you are craving some vegan sweets.
Overall Rota Cafe serves good vegan food in a great atmosphere with friendly service. Recommended when you visit Fukuoka.
Pros: All Vegan, Comfortable cafe in the busy Tenjin area, Friendly staff

Gorgeous little cafe! - Edit
Fully vegan cafe down the side of the mall. Super central and easy to find. Had the burger, the mock meat meal set with a salad and a slice of the chocolate gateau cake and it was utterly incredible! Great coffee, they even warmed up the soy milk for me so it didn’t curdleI 💕 Reasonable prices with beautiful service by sweet people who speak English and they have a fully English menu. Lots of little snacks to take away too and free wifi.

Just go there~ - Edit
Everything here is good. Have been here many times now. I always want to try everything on the menu, but alas... Unlike some of our bovine friends, I have only one stomach. So far I have tried their veggie doria, veggie curry plate, veggie hash, desserts (chocolate cake, soy cheesecake, tarts, soy ice cream), burger set meals (both veggie burger and tempeh burger - there is also a gluten patty burger option), healthy steamed veg set meal, seasonal smoothie and strawberry parfait. The first time I went, the staff were very helpful in letting me know how to get there (I’d gotten lost.) My phone battery was at 1% but luckily, I was able to make a phone call and a staff member kindly guided me to the proper location before my phone died... she even waited outside of the shop to greet me! Google maps tells you it is in one place when it is actually in another (it's actually near the shop "Zara"). All of the items, even the items in the shop area downstairs, are vegan and do not contain any animal products. Lots of goodies to choose from. Haven't been disappointed here so far, the food is always tasty and flavourful without being overpowering.
Read more* Update re: chocolate - seems some of the chocolate (eg the brand “Vivani” has some very confusing labelling but they are in fact vegan. They don’t directly contain dairy as such, but may be cross contaminated with trace amounts of dairy due to being processed at a facility also handling dairy products, it seems. The labelling is terribly unclear, so much so that I initially thought dairy was a direct ingredient.
Pros: central location in Tenjin, yummy vegan food, vegan desserts!!!
Cons: none
