Roots is a really nice place with many vegan options. They also had a vegan sushi the night we came to eat there. Because of the event it was busy and we had to sit outside at not a really nice table. We asked if they can let us know if they had a table inside, but they didn’t and they kept us waiting. Finally I went inside and asked and we could sit inside..
Read moreInside was a lot nicer! Unfortunately they didn’t serve our food at the same time, which was also a little sad. I ordered the Poke bowl and a vegan sushi roll. It tasted good, but our experience was less nice because of the little things. Foodwise I would recommend this place.😄

I had the ramen noodles and my non vegan boyfriend had the chilli con carne and said it was one of the best he’s had. The ramen wasn’t amazing, the broccoli was raw which isn’t my cup of tea and there was way too many peas. The service was pretty slow too, however I’d still go back to try some different dishes

A good option in Thessaloniki - Edit
Greece is generally not a vegan friendly country, though almost any restaurant will have some veg*n specialties to offer. Roots is an exception, with a full vegan menu, including a number of meatbased dishes turned vegan. We had the vegan gyros which was good though not exceptional. It was not specially cheap by Greek standards. I would recommend it anyway.

I’m from Thessaloniki and I always make it a point to visit roots when I visit Thessaloniki. They do offer vegetarian options for non vegans, but they are a vegan first establishment. Very high quality, gourmet dining without a dress code. It’s my favorite vegan restaurant anywhere!

Greek food for me is a serious deal since my family’s greek so I had very high expectations. This place was incredibly good, and the staff there is so so so kind. We got the vegan gyros and it was the best thing i’ve ever tasted. The plate was full and the price was super reasonable, if you visit Thessaloniki just go there!

There were plenty of vegan options available. I ordered gyros. It tasted delicious. Keep in mind that the way they serve it is in the form of a platter, alongside two small pita breads. The place was warm and cozy. A little on the pricy side, considering I had gyros in other places in Thessaloniki for a much cheaper price.

Nicely prepared vegan food, some gourmet notes, very fast and nice staff, a must for a vegan while in Thessaloniki! No street food, real food!! Value for money (3 people: with 2 starters 3 mains and a beer around 50euros). Will definitely go there again!

This restaurant is by far the best in town! There are many options of excellent quality and, of course, super delicious. The staff is very polite and helpful. Moreover, the restaurant is located in an old and traditional neighborhood of Thessaloniki, and it is a great place to eat, drink and take a walk. Highly recommended!

Carbonara & Greek sallad - Edit
We had the vegan carbonara and Greek salad together with two desserts. I didn't at all expect these portion sizes so was super baffled when a round mini cheese cake á 4 persons, came in for 8ish euro. The pastas were also enormous and the salad was for a whole family (and we were just 2 so couldn't finish). I think the quality of the food was amazing and I'm happy to be returning to Thessaloniki after so many years with places like roots on the map.
