Read moreProbeer ook het andere filiaal in de wijk Baixa (Remedio Santi - Baixa). Daar hebben we een klein hapje gegeten. Chiquer qua uitstraling, andere gerechten, even lekker! Deze plek is net geopende in een oude zuivel-winkel. 😉

We started with the vegan kibe, which we call kube in Israel. I've never had them because they are always minced meat. These were so simple, but so delicious. Husband had the bacalhua-influenced dish, with salty mushrooms as the stand-in for the fish. He really enjoyed it. It was largely a base of shredded potatoes though. I got the lime gnocchi which were just sublime. A little lime flavor, melted cheez, almonds. Fantastic. We got two chocolate pies, one with coconut and one with fresh plum. Both were very tasty but not mind-blowing. The owner is very charming; it's a nice low-key vibe. Great experience, especially since my doggie was allowed in and sat next to me :)

Our best vegan meal ! - Edit
We visited Remedio Santo while staying in Porto and finding it on Happy Cow. We have both been vegan for five years and agreed that this was the best meal we had ever eaten. The owner explained every dish and it was hard to choose as they all sounded so delicious. It was a lovely evening so we dined outside and just had the most wonderful time. From starters to dessert it was all freshly cooked and mouth watering. I can’t recommend this little gem enough !

Read moreThe service was great, we were shown pictures of the dishes so we’d know what we were ordering. We sat outside in the garden which was simple but very relaxing.
We had the shiitake mushrooms (cooked like clams) and the flavour was great, fresh and with little crunchy bits of onion or garlic, lots of coriander.
And the seitan steak dish with mushroom sauce was so tasty!
For dessert we tried the passion fruit pie, which is more like a set custard type thing, very unusual but very nice.
Although the setting was simple, the food was like fine dining.

High-end vegan restaurant with the best food we have had in Portugal and extremely friendly, welcoming service. Should we visit Porto again, the Remédio Santo would bei my first choice to have dinner. We especially recommend the shimeji à brás!

My hubby and I shared their lunch for 2. Price was very reasonable. Appetizer, entree and dessert were delicious. Appetizer was Kibes. I got ‘cod fish with potatoes (shiitake a bulhao pato)close to what I remember it tasting like. My hubby had ‘sausage and beans (favinhas a Inglesa) he loved it. For dessert we had peach cheesecake (omg) and apple streusel. Everything was delicious. The host was very nice and explained all the dishes.

So happy I discovered such a great place! They offer plenty of Portuguese traditional dishes. Everything I had was very tasty and price-wise is also fine. I really loved the black sauce on the mushrooms.

Traditional Portuguese dishes veganized. This food is so good, I had to close my eyes while eating. Finger-licking good. Mouth-watering. I just have no words. We had to walk quite a bit to get there and took an Uber back and I would do it again and again.

The best gnocchis of my life - Edit
Also offered a veganized version of the traditional bacalhau a brás which was tasty. We had the menu that included bread, hummus, olives, 2 kibes, 2 mains, and 2 desserts for 45€ altogether. The olives and the gnocchis were the highlights but everything else was really good as well. If you are in Porto this place is a must-go! Cheap wine as well. Recommend making a reservation.

Lovely independent restaurant, a little out of the city centre but worth getting an Uber to it. Host very welcoming - explained menu to us and how their dishes are vegan versions of traditional Portuguese dishes. Offers set starters with choice of any main and any dessert for two for 45 euros. Highly recommend.
