One of the best vegan spots in LA - Edit
I’ve been here just three times but everything has been great. Great drink selection, food is all quality ingredients, service is very friendly and helpful, love the outdoor dining area with dog dishes so you can bring your pup.

Perfect! - Edit
In the area for the day and we had plenty of choices for food. We were happy to have chosen this place. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our server Henry was polite and helpful with the menu items.

Top notch vegan restaurant- classic - Edit
RFD has been around before we had lots of options as vegans! I have been going to RFD for over 20 years and am a huge fan. Their evolution has been amazing to watch and experience. They are one of my all time favorite places to eat. The service is always impeccable, the food outstanding and delicious, healthy and incredible. My only complaint is that there aren't more RFD throughout Southern California. I will always go to RFD if I am close by. A vegan classic.

RFD has never been that good - Edit
Even when there were few choices, RFD was expensive and underwhelming. I love that they are still open and all vegan, but the overall flavor profile across the menu is lacking. If you’re in the neighborhood, it’s better than a non-vegan spot, but it’s also not cheap.

Good food but nothing special - Edit
The food was really good and tasty but a bit pricy for what you got. I got the feeling that the staff wanted us to leave as soon as possible so it was very stressful. The desserts looked really good but we did not try them. Loud music was playing... I will not be revisiting this place.

This is one of those places where you leave saying, “If I were to open a vegan restaurant, it would be exactly like this joint!” Just another fine example of lots of thought going into the menu, the recipes and the decor.

Interesting experience - Edit
This was our first time at this restaurant. The first impression was of a happy and airy place. I loved the open coffee bar and the blue flowers on the walls.
Read moreOur server was kind of absent and did not check in with us a lot, but the person who was covering for her was very helpful and friendly. I had some questions about the menu and she explained my choices and helped with the order.
I ordered the keto bowl and really liked the sauteed sauerkraut in the dish. My bowl was very filling and tasty, even though some of the flavors were new to me.
My daughter had vegan mach and cheese and loved it.
She also tried desserts but did not like the gluten-free texture. I tried the turmeric ginger energy ball and loved it! I would have it anytime.
Overall we had an enjoyable experience (except for the server being absent) and would go there again.
Pros: nice vibe, easy parking, good food
Cons: inconsistent service, cake texture

Great food but lack of service - Edit
This place has excellent options for vegan eaters. How ever it's a bit spoiled by the staff who seems like they don't care about the customers. Best choice is to get the food delivered, so you don't have to deal with the staff or wait far too long at the counter when picking it up.

Meh - Edit
Not sure what all the good reviews are raving about. This place was very average with an OK burger and sweet potato fries that were very forgettable. Also the lemonade for $5 tasted like ice water that had one lemon squeezed in it.

Fantastic updates. - Edit
I love RFD. Macrobiotic-inspired, organic, vegan food. The restaurant has gone through many athletics since I’ve been going and I love the last update. They changed the art on the walls, brought the living tree in under the skylights ( you can dine around the tree). Printed the menus up single-page laminate style, added some great raw dishes (almond ricotta stuffed beets and raw bowl YES) to the menu and expended their fancy sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and my favorite, the bowls. Drinks and desserts. Their ceasar is exceptional, corn bread famous, the raw dill, carrot and raisin strips are insane. And best yet, two people can eat like healthy royalty for $55. Seriously love RFD.

I had RFD delivered and was SO impressed. I tried the mushroom calzone and it was incredible! I have never seen a vegan calzone on a menu before, and it was a giant portion as well.

Awesome... now - Edit
So happy that they have a new owner and chef! I have been vegan for over 20 years and live in the neighborhood, and was so unimpressed with the previous food. NOW though... the food is flavorful, inventive and delicious! Burritos, Pizzas, Burgers are all too notch! Thank you Adaline for revamping this into a great vegan restaurant!

Pancakes!!! - Edit
I had the chocolate chip pancakes from here which were a massive serving and quite reasonably priced for the serving size. They were super fluffy and the chocolate chips kind of reminded me of Nutella. I would definitely recommend trying them if you find yourself in the area, only downside is they don’t open until 11am.

The Perfect Post-Hike Spot - Edit
The staff was very friendly and helpful with my allergies. They brought a book with all of the ingredients and answered any questions I had. They were very knowledgeable and I felt comfortable that they would cook a dish that I could eat.
My mom had a lemonade to drink. She said it was very refreshing and not too sweet. I had a juice with apple, ginger, and lemon. It had a strong ginger flavor which was perfect.
My mom and I had basic bowls. My mom had quinoa, roasted veggies, and sweet potato with a balsamic dressing. I had quinoa, roasted veggies, greens, garlicky greens, sweet potato and tofu with a tahini dressing. I also had a cauliflower mashed that was so creamy and flavorful. All the components of the bowl were fresh and well seasoned.

Great brunch - Edit
I always want to try multiple things at brunch, and their menu didn't disappoint. I got a platter of french toast, tofu scramble, fruit, and tempeh bacon. The bacon was super crispy and flavorful. If you like a chewy bacon, this is not for you. The scramble was delicious, and the french toast was amazing. My non-vegan wife always complains about vegan french toast, and this one earned her seal of approval. Even the side of fruit didn't rely on bananas and apples. It was predominantly berries and mango. I've seen many complaints about how expensive it is, but it wasn't any more expensive than other vegan restaurants in the city. Would definitely get brunch here again.

Meh. Expensive for what you get. - Edit
Our family wanted to love this place. The service was excellent. The food was mediocre at best and much more expensive than its competitors for the quality and quantity. Not the only game in town serving comparable food. Really disappointed.

overrated & unhealthy food - Edit
Did not enjoy this place one bit. While everything was vegan, the menu contained typical unhealthy American food options which is my opinion are all disgusting. So if you are looking for a nice healthy and light vegan lunch, this is not the place.

Stingy! - Edit
The food is O.K. - IF you can find it on your plate! My husband ordered a burger and I thought he accidentally ordered from the children's menu. It was so tiny and they serve it on a cutting board which I guess they think is cute or trendy, as if that makes up for the size of the burger. They used to serve a side salad with a sandwich or burger but now you have to order a side salad and pay more. How cheap can you get?
Read moreEver since the new owner(s) took over, the food has gotten smaller and the price has gotten larger. A slice of pie was $3 more than last year.
Disappointing.
Pros: Food is pretty good
Cons: Portions got smaller as prices went up
