Game Changer - Edit
For me, this is still the vegan pace-setter in Barcelona. Quite a lot has changed here since our first visit in 2014 so I’ve updated my original review. It’s now 100% vegan for a start. This is an absolutely gorgeous intimate establishment serving intricately creative tapas style dishes in a splendid modernist but homely Barrio Gotico setting. For €29 you get a house appetiser followed by your choice of starter, main and desert or you can skip desert and pick another starter or something from the snack or breads menu such as their fabulous croquettes or a Catalan tomato bread. The food is truly excellent and prepared with dedicated precision. You will find some fantastic seasonal combinations here, the menu is dynamic and changes regularly. Rasoterra promotes the 'Slow Food' concept which puts emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and the distance traveled to reach the dining table. The natural wines here are selected very carefully which (in their own words) “mirror and showcase the lands that surround the city”. This is still unequivocally my top vegan establishment of all time.

The best restaurant vegan food I have ever tasted - Edit
I went here with my wife who is not vegan/vegetarian. I have been strict vegan for 4 years and dine out regularly. We were in Barcelona on a city break from the UK. This food blew is away.

Fantastic food - Edit
Simple food, fantastic taste.
Read moreWe where 3 persons and we had five dishes plus the tomato bread and this was sufficient.
We had the marinated artichokes, the tomato bread, the spinach croquettes, the broccoli with buffalo mozzarella, homemade pasta and the turf and surf (black rice)
2 bottles of wine, no dessert and we went out with 33 €/ person which was perfectly deserved and fine!

Special - Edit
Part of the "slow food movement", serves high quality food at a price. We only took a couple of dishes so we could sample the food, flavors were a little bland at times, but the experience was special nonetheless.

Food ok - Tapas - Edit
Stopped in here for some dinner. Wait staff were good and brought out English menus.
Read moreWe had 5 tapas dishes - not huge but most quite tasty. I thought it was quite expensive though for what we got.
I guess I would visit again - but we were in Barcelona for 4 days and tried many different restaurants all of which were easy to recall - except this one - so the food obviously didn't stand out - however there wasn't anything really wrong.
Pros: Quite a few Vegan choices
Cons: Felt it was quite expensive

Very expensive - Edit
I had high expectations of this place, taking into account the prices I saw on their website. As somebody else said in their review, the waiter was saying that the portions are very small and for 4 people we should get at least 5-6 or 2/person. We got 6 and was amazed by the portions, which were very small in relation to the price they had... good thing I didn't come with an empty stomach... Also, 6 EUR for 3 cherry sized cacao balls?...
Read moreThe food was interesting but I wasn't impressed by the taste, I wouldn't pay again that much for them. I would at any time prefer Flax & Kale chain over this one, much more affordable and the portions are a decent size.
If you don't care about money, it's a nice place to try vegan tapas (I consider the food from there tapas, based on the portions).
The place was nothing special, but was expecting a better looking place based on the prices...

Nice ambiente, great food, good price. All you can wish for having a nice evening. We had the seasonal tasting menu. 7 courses, plus water and pan amb tomaquet, only 32€. I had high expectations after reading some reviews here ... and the food was even better than expected😄highly recommend. My highlight was the Chickpea Farinata with Ratatouille and the Mango Ceviche!! When you are in town, check it out!

Servicio correcto.

poor service at a high price! - Edit
I have eaten here once before, a few years back, and decided to try it again, based on good reviews here.
Read moreSome reviews say that it’s good value and inexpensive. We can’t agree. Maybe we were given the guiris menu, because the dishes are priced from €8 to €13 and the waiter told us “the plates are small, so we recommend that you order 5” (between two of us). That’s rather expensive in my book.
OK, so it’s not all about price, “let’s give it a try” we thought
We waited 15 minutes for the menus. This is a small place with maybe 10-12 tables.
15 minutes later, we were still waiting to order, or even catch someone’s attention. The couple next us, who arrived after us, were happily drinking their wine and eating their first course. Not that we were in an awful rush, but waiting 30 minutes to order a drink is not what we call good service.
Given the prices, we would expect better service and a better experience in general.
Pleasant enough venue, quite cosy.
The menu wasn’t that temping. plenty of vegan options, but nothing we really fancied trying, let alone 5 dishes!
In the end, after 30 minutes waiting, we decided to cut our losses and eat elsewhere, so we can’t rate the food. In terms of experience, not a great one by any means, and I certainly would not have wanted to pay €50 drinks to dine here! (5 plates at average €10 each)
Cons: prices, service

Very cute little restaurant. Has seasonal menus and locally sourced food. The pan con tomate was my favorite thing. Curry also has a lot of flavor. Kind of pricey but high quality. Definitely treats reservation guests with priority and small space so I recommend making a reservation.

Best vegan food in Barcelona - Edit
This is my favourite dining experience in Barcelona. They offer vegan versions of traditional Spanish food, it is a place to come for tapas (and probably best to share). The Trinxat (a kind of mashed potato dish seasoned well and topped with spicy kimchi mayo) was the best thing we tried, while the vegan croquettes were amazing, too. The sangria was lovely as well. Next time I'm in the city, you know where I'll be dying to go!

good lunch menu - Edit
I visited Rasoterra for lunch with my omnivore family. The food was good for the 11euros half menu. I specially enjoyed the main dish, vegan trinxat. However I was not blown away with neither the sweet potato starter nor the sorbet dessert. On the bright side my family really enjoyed and that was the goal! I never thought I would see my mum eating kimchi!

A very nice place to having some fancy dinner. The menu is wide, made mostly of local products. It is not expensive, although the portions are quite small so finally they recommend you to have more than one course per person. Anyway, the food is very tasty and well presented.

Really tasty high quality food - Edit
My favorite were the tacos and the tempeh skewers. Also the watermelon carpaccio was very tasty. The surf and turf is filling and homy. We also tasted the kasucake, which was very interesting, something I have never tried before, but also something I wouldn't order again. It's expensive but definitely worth it if you value high quality food.

Stylish, friendly and delicious - Edit
We sincerely enjoyed our dinner at Rasoterra and would recommend it to anyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered 5 dishes to share, local wine (after recommendation from the waiter) and desserts with coffee. The dishes are simple but very tasteful. We enjoyed it all but try something else than the tacos. Try the croquettes instead :-).

Craving their food even now! Haha - Edit
I came to this place twice while I was in Barcelona and would've gone again had I had the time. None of my non-vegan friends wanted to come so I went alone. Their loss! The food here is AMAZING! At least most of the things I ordered. I'm still dreaming of the baked maitake mushrooms, my absolute favorite thing on their menu. Bravas potatoes are good and filling and summer trinxat (another potato dish) was delicious. Croquettes were good but had a sweetness to them that I didn't enjoy. Fennel carpaccio was a waste of appetite and money in my opinion. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating. They even have many vegan wines that don't use eggshells or isinglass. Overall I really loved this place. 5/5 stars

Menu del Dia is Great Value - Edit
They have an a la carte menu as well, but I chose to go for the 2-course set menu for 11 euros (the 3-course is 13 euros), which includes water and bread. I had a delicious salad for the starter, which had lettuce, roasted capsicum, hazelnuts, kalamata olives, red onion & pesto. My main was an amazing smoked tofu tart with tiger tomatoes - the smokiness was just incredible!
