What a find!

Can’t wait to go back and try their pizza and everything else! The space is beautiful and the little market really does have hard to find vegan products. It’s conveniently located near 91

Healthy, Yummy, Vegan Paradise!

As a vegan traveler from Israel, I was thrilled to discover this wonderful cafe when visiting a friend in Amherst. It's a huge space (and super clean!) with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were very friendly, although one employee seemed strangely opposed to showing me the dessert ingredient list. I ordered the Vida Bowl, which was perfectly prepared and so tasty, albeit a bit small for my appetite (and for the price). A very positive experience, highly recommend!

Pros: Fresh, healthy ingredients, Very friendly staff

Cons: Portions a bit on the small side

!!! So good !!!

Everything was delicious- can’t believe I waited so long to try this! We had bean burgers, a yummy kale salad, carrot & cupcake. Pizza oven was on and there’s a store with hard-to-find vegan meats cheese & staples. Large dining area and outdoor seating. It was all fresh, flavorful, generous yum yum will be back soon!

Love this place

I have came here so many times and ate almost everything on the menu and everything is delicious. From their burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, Mac and cheese, salads, to fresh baked good and smoothies and fresh squeezed juices they have so much to choose from, they even have a Sunday brunch menu. They also have a small refrigerator and freezer section of vegan grocery items and sometimes have fresh veggies and fruits from local farm stands and such. When it’s warm out they have a animal sanctuary outside and it’s great to see. The staff is so nice and the building is very comfortable, clean and great atmosphere.

Pros: Great options , Never disappointed in food , Delicious flavor

Cons: I can’t complain about a thing

Awesome place near lots of stores

This place is great! I had driven by it many times but never realized what it was. It is right next to two huge shopping plazas in Hadley. It is a large building with a juice bar, bakery and restaurant area and vegan food area. Everything they sell is vegan and they have some many refrigerated/frozen vegan foods that are hard to find. The pizza, garlic knots and baklava were all delicious!

Terrific pizza!!!

I shared a sweet potato sage pizza and a pepperoni pizza with an omnivore and we both had the half Caesar salad. It was all SO delicious. I’ll be dining here again.

Pros: Delicious, Chill / relaxed, All vegan!

Cons: Pizzas could be bigger

Amazing cafe and more!

Firstly the building is beautiful and has plenty of parking. Based off the size it seems very popular. The cafe menu includes many delicious things including calzones and pizzas made to order and cooked in a woods burning oven. There is a variety of scratch made desserts as well. There is also an extensive vegan market with multiple freezer and cold cases of things you won’t find in a Whole Foods. They also have a variety of well priced local produce from Five College Farms. We had the Margarita pizza, the garlic knots (filled with cashew cheese and jalapeños) and the soup of the day which was garbanzo vegetable. Some of the freshest food I have ever tasted! You can tell that the vegetables came from a local farm with how flavorful they were. The pizza dough was perfect and the house made cashew cheese was great. The staff were all so helpful and kind. If I lived in western MA this would be my go to spot. A can’t-miss if you are in the Amherst/Northampton area.

Pros: Fresh and delicious food, Vegan market, Wood fired pizza

We went back in for seconds

My girlfriend and I stopped in after visiting the plant nursery across the street (Hadley Garden Center shoutout!). We only got an order of garlic knots and small salads, nothing too special or crazy but we were blown away. The food is amazing, the best garlic knots I've ever had ever. The cafe also had a market for vegan meats and other substitutes, I did catch myself thinking that I wish there was a bit more of the market but was still super impressed. Pulse also has a very welcoming and warm atmosphere to it, even with all the Covid-19 restrictions. Definitely will be returning soon to try out something else!

A little update to the last time we stopped by: We tried their Margherita pizza and it was really excellent. We did notice that the size of the pizza is kinda small for two adults, definitely not a pizza to share with 4-5 people.
Also a fair warning: the hours of operation are very limited on the weekend especially on Friday. It is more of a brunch/ lunch place for sure.

All in all a still very excellent plant based lunch spot

Pros: Nice Vibe, Excellent Food, Plenty of room for social distancing

Cons: Pizzas is somewhat small, Hours of operation are wonky

Pulse still ticking: updated review

Updating a review from a couple of years back. First and foremost, so happy that Pulse has been able to stay in business, given their large building and staff, not to mention the pandemic. I was passing through Amherst yesterday and stopped in for dinner. I ordered the Caesar salad, a crimini mushroom calzone, and a triple berry smoothie. Although there were tables available inside, I chose to dine al fresco since it was a nice evening and I felt safer outside. My ice cold smoothie was out in about 5 minutes, and the food followed in another few minutes. The calzone was piping hot, stuffed with mushrooms, spinach and their famous ricotta cheeze. The tomato sauce served on the side added just the right flavor. The salad had beautiful, crisp romaine lettuce drenched with their amazing Caesar dressing, and the croutons were super crunchy and fresh. The sliced cherry tomatoes were amazing, and probably local. As an added bonus, you also get a few good sized pieces of browned tofu in the salad for some added protein. With no room for dessert, I ordered three to take home: pineapple bar, pineapple cream pie, and blueberry cheesecake. Although they were all very good, the cheesecake stole the show. Huge, local blueberries topped off a graham cracker crust filled with what I could've sworn was real cream cheese filling. Absolutely amazing! They had some excellent local produce available for sale, along with their usual wide selection of vegan food, and they now have an entire room for juices. I picked up a hefty box of heirloom tomatoes for $6. Pints of local cherry tomatoes were going for $5. I found the staff to be their usual friendly, helpful selves, and the entire operation is spotless.

Pros: Great food served with many smiles, Local produce available at reasonable prices, Spotless facility

Cons: I don't live close enough to go every day...

Will travel far and wide for this!

My husband and I love this restaurant and travel 50 min for it. It does not disappoint! We probably go once every 2 - 3 months. Beautiful atmosphere, friendly wait staff, priced fairly! We always have left overs so its like getting two meals. The food is absolutely delicious! Their hours change so follow them on facebook so your not disappointed if they are closed. They close 2 pm on Friday and closed in Saturdays for their reg hours. Its a bummer and I respect their discipline!

I can't recommend them enough

Always amazing. I've never had a problem. Their "honor system" market during Covid helped me a LOT as a person who is at risk and didn't want to be exposed to large stores but needed supplies.

My favorite vegan spot in wmass

I go to Pulse often, i take all my non vegan friends here and they love it. I took my friend who’s allergic to gluten and she got the GF mac and cheese, she loved every bite and thanked me for showing her! i’ve shown about 6 non-vegan friends that Vegan alternatives are just as good as the OG! if not better! The atmosphere is gorgeous! The food is a little bit pricy but worth the money in my opinion.

Pros: Lots of GF substitutes , Great atmosphere , Quick bite

Cons: A little pricy

Clean eating

My favorite place to work/grab lunch while I'm in the area. I often travel for work and end up eating out a lot and this is the perfect place for some clean eating. I love their food and any juice/smoothy. Although, I found the frozen smoothie bowl is a great idea, but just isn't quite practical. Only other critique... I'd love something for my caffeine fix (all drinks are caffeine-free).

Pros: Guiltless food options leave you feeling refreshed

Cons: No caffeine

Great food but not for the faint of budget

The food and smoothies here are AWESOME. Every item is made with care and the service is great. Just be prepared for the one dollar sign to be a bit misleading.

Cons: Expensive

always missing something

The food is beautiful and it's wonderful to have another vegan spot with so many options, but the flavors are always slightly off to me, missing a tanginess or bite or just too sweet. I wouldn't judge so harshly for that if they weren't charging upscale prices and serving such small portions.

FYI, for religious reasons this restaurant does not use any black pepper or vinegar. There are also no drink items with caffeine for the same reason, which can be tough for brunch especially.

I like that they grow much of their own produce and do a lot of food educational work.

Pros: completely vegan menu, grocery store section has hard to find vegan items, pretty space with lots of light

Cons: expensive, food missing flavor

Heaven.

I have travelled far and wide in search of vegan food for many years. This restaurant takes the cake.....but not only do they have cake, they have EVERYTHING. Ambiance, food, fireplaces, and um....the food.....had Tofu Benedict in the morning and my mother got pumpkin pancakes. She took a calzone home for my father, and she got chick'en soup and apple knots. I too took home apple knots, as well as a cubano. They have a refrigerated section with multiple offerings, and it is very substantial. I used to travel to Wegman's in MA when shopping for indulgent vegan food, but no more! Now I can make an afternoon of both dining out and shopping for home. Excellent drinks and they have many items that do not need to be refrigerated (canned goods/snacks) and I am so happy to live within 3 hours of them!!

Pros: Variety of Cuisines, Everything is Vegan, Beyond Delicious

Cons: NONE

Quality casual vegan restaurant

What a gem! They have vegan pizza, calzone, sandwiches, wraps, salads, bowls, soups, desserts and more. It's a large stand-alone building with a big, open, high-ceiling interior. There's a casual vibe and you order at the counter. The menu is on large electronic boards, and also printed on paper menus. The choices are numerous, and everything is made from scratch. While we did not request modifications, I'm sure they could be accommodated for allergies, etc.

They have both Impossible and Beyond burgers, as well as their own. My partner got the Beyond version and was very impressed with not just the burger, but the bun and the toppings. It was difficult to make my choice, but I got the Haystack bowl and a cup of lentil barley soup. The bowl had more corn chips than I wanted, but better too many than not enough. All ingredients were fresh, well prepared and presented. I could have eaten a bucket of that soup!

The restaurant is about 3 miles from Interstate 91. It is well worth a detour if you are in the area. I know I'll be back as often as I can, and I have plans to work my way through other sections of the menu.

UPDATE: My second trip did not disappoint. We met friends at Pulse for dinner. I had the lentil veg soup and cheese stake. The soup was excellent. The cheese steak was okay, but I probably won’t order it again as other options are tastier.

My spouse got the Greek salad pizza, which is essentially a salad dumped on pizza crust. It was delicious, and the fake feta was amazing. We asked if they carry it in the shop, but they make it in house and don’t sell it. Bummer.

Our friends got the Caesar salad and daily specials—a Tex-Mex burger and a Buffalo chicken(less) dish. They were pleased with those choices. The staff willingly made modifications for dietary restrictions. Photos are attached.

Pros: Varied menu, Modern, open environment, Quality ingredients and professional preparation

They have so many good choices from burgers to pizzas to a ceaser salad! I haven’t eaten something here I haven’t liked yet and their menu is so diverse anyone should be able to find something they like! They also have lots of options that can be gluten free which I personally appreciate! Can’t go wrong checking this place out!

Pros: All vegan , Gluten free, Great juices!

You Should Stop Here And EAT!!!

This place is a gem! The food was great! The people working there were very nice.

We ordered pizza with an organic crust and a few toppings that was absolutely delicious. We had a fantastic Caesar salad that was on point and garlic knots stuffed with melted cashew mozzarella chz! Drool!

The food is moderately priced and everything tasted great! You order from the counter and they bring the food out to you after it is prepared. There is a grocery section as well. The place was immaculately clean and eclectically designed. From the outside passing by, we saw the purple lights and commented on how cool the place looked. Later, when we went to eat, we figured out that this was the vegan restaurant!

Pros: Great food!, Very clean!, Eclectic design!

Cons: None that I could find!!
