Buddhist / Tao Cuisine

This restaurant is great if you’re looking for No Onion / No Garlic (NOG) cuisine, they have a great range of Cantonese dishes however my complaint is that the service can be rather lacking with the waitress being short and snappy; which is disappointing, but nevertheless tasty food!

Great food and atmosphere

Pu Kwong is pretty difficult to get to but it is definitely worth it! The food is delicious, they have a range of appetisers, and the place is very sweet. Inside is very clean, pretty, and the staff are friendly.

I've gone several times but it looks like they have changed chefs or owners a few times because the food has changed in taste/texture and/or food items disappeared. I still recommend!

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, Nice place

Cons: Difficult to find/get to, Food has changed in taste

tasty

really enjoyed eating at pu kwong.. a large selection of mostly vegan chinese food.. lots of mock meat dishes, good flavours, quick service... some dishes have egg, but they seem to ask you before taking your order if you eat egg...

Pros: lots of vegan options

good experience

The young woman waiting on us tonight was very attentive. She was polite and seemed anxious to ensure she gave good service. The food came quickly. We enjoyed the radish balls and the sizzling seafood. Textures and flavours great. We thought about rice but an entree and 2 main courses were sufficient for two of us.

Pros: most of the menu seems to be vegan

Cons: wasn't always clear which option were not vegan pa

Authentic asian experience

They serve Asian style dishes made with mock-meats, tofu and vegetables. The menu has a lot of variety. You also get the feel of eating in a proper Chinese style restaurant. I've been a number of times and the good is always very good.

A local favourite

Lovely service, cater to vegans well and have never had any concerns with the staff not knowing what we can/can't have (they often get a senior member to serve if at all unsure/language barrier).

But serving sizes are awesome, taste always en pointe!

Can take Omni friends without concerns ?☺️

Big portions - nice

The food is typical Chinese however some of the menu options tend to be quite sweet. The black bean chili fish and plum duck are my favorite. Friendly staff and plenty of delicious options to choose from.

Pros: variety, friendly Staff, good quality

Cons: karaoke music, sweet, not cheap

What a transformation!!

I last visited Pu Kwong in August 2013 and was not very impressed with the food and service. However, I read on their Facebook page that they had a new chef and got rid of their last manager so I thought that I might give them a go again.

I went there with my wife, our two kids and a family friend. What transpired absolutely shocked us. The waitresses were friendly and served with a smile. The new manageress would occasionally walk by and asked us how the food was. She would spend a few moments talking to us about the benefits of vegetarianism. But more importantly, the food was absolutely delicious! I've posted some pics of the dishes that we ordered. The servings were huge (we had to ask for containers to take the leftovers home) and the prices were LOWER than the past. That's right, lower!! Talk about value for money.

I have no hesitation in suggesting anyone, vegetarian or not, to try out the "new" Pu Kwong.

Pros: Great service, Huge dishes, Lower prices

Get there hungry!

Pu Kwong has seen better days. The signage is fading and the decor inside is nothing flash. However, the food is very reasonably priced, the menu is extensive, and the servings are massive. We found the service to be better than at most other restaurants; for example, upon ordering we were asked if we wanted MSG included in our dishes. This is an uncommon courtesy.

We shared two meals and rice among three (plus a small bowl of shark fin soup) and could hardly finish the food.

Take note: the venue accepts cash only, though there is an ATM less than a minute's walk away.

Pros: serving size, price, service

Cons: drabness, old-fashioned place, cash only

Great place

If you can find the place (from the city, get on Logan Road heading south, its just before a BP service station north of Underwood - if you get to the large Woolies complex in Underwood youve gone too far) - its well worth the effort. The dishes are a bit more elaborate than what you might find elsewhere, but are still reasonably priced. Pound for pound, I'd say its the best vego restaurant on the south side.

Pros: Great food, good value

Cons: Informal settings, a little out of the way
