Superb

Best vegan place in Whangarei. Winners of the 2018 Fritter Fest best overall fritter! Try showing up on a Saturday between 11am and 2pm to join the local vegan meet-up group that assembles there if you’re interested.

Pros: 100% Vegan and gluten free, High quality and delicious food, Friendly staff

Cons: Sometimes sell out of certain popular options., Not the place to go for those with nut allergies.

Good selection cabinet and menu food

All plant based blackboard menu and sweet or savoury cabinet food plus a small section of pantry items, teas and books. The first time I went here I had a small meal and a coffee. The food was nice but the cashew/coconut milk had split in the coffee. Was much better when I revisited the following weekend when a different barista was working.

Pros: All plant based menu , Reasonably priced

Delicious, nutritious plant-based food

We've eaten in Power Plant and tried the delivery service and would highly recommend both. Delicious food and drinks (Java bowl, raw sandwich and hot chocs a favourite!), healthy plant-based choices which make you feel great after.
The delivery service was easy and efficient and the gift of an afgan cookie was really appreciated and it didn't last long!
Can't wait to order again 😊

Pros: Delicious food, Great choices, Delivery service

Best food and loveliest people

Thanks so much for sending out a treat to my mother who can’t get out during Covid. She loved her delivery - I’ll have to repeat it again really soon. She loves your raw sandwiches. Next time I must include a sweet treat. Thank you all so much. Belinda.

Pros: Great food, Lovely people, Makes my belly happy

Delicious and healthy food.

Power Plant is one of those rare places that serves absolutely delicious food that also happens to be very healthy. All dishes are vegan and gluten free and choosing what to purchase is difficult because it’s all so tasty. Dishes include pies,(for example savoury lentil, and jackfruit), raw sandwiches, nachos, salads, and soup and toast (made from their own freshly made G F bread). The sweet dishes are as unique and delicious as the savoury dishes.
The staff is welcoming and passionately vegan and their service is awesome. It’s not often food like this can be found in a small city. This is definitely a cafe/shop to visit when in Whangarei.

Enjoyable lunch at this cafe....

We got the Frittata from the cabinet & the Lentil & vege pie from the warmer for lunch here along with the option of the two daily salads ~ A Roasted cauliflower & cabbage and a Brown rice & bok choy . Both were very good.

The pie was good. Nice pastry and fillings. Very tasty and a good size.

I enjoyed the flavors in the Frittata although it was quite dry but the relish it was served with helped with that.

Moderate pricing at $16 per plate.

The ionized table water was a nice touch.

Friendly service in a clean, modern cafe also serving a few shelf staples.

Vegan must-do in the Northland

We were delighted to find this little piece of vegan heaven up north where the vegan pickings are pretty slim. We stopped in for lunch and mightily enjoyed the lentil pie and mushroom turnover and salad - all very fresh and tasty. There is plenty of room to sit and enjoy your food or you could take away. We had a lovely chat with with owner, who was very personable and passionate about what he does. He and his wife run the local veg expo/festival and we loved hearing about the details of this yearly extravaganza. The shop also sells packaged goods and adorable locally made reusable bags so o was able to put together a gift basket for a friend we were visiting.

Pros: Healthy options, Lovely staff

Best Vegan in Whangarei

This is the only fully vegan place in Whangarei. The owners are part of the organising committee for the local "Vegan Expo". The staff are vegan and understand the vegan movement. You don't need to check labels at this place because they all 'get-it' and can be trusted. They don't even offer dairy as an option for their coffee. If you want mylk, it's their own house-made cashew & coconut cream (highly recommended) or Soy. In saying that, their coffee is the organic & fairtrade, boutique Kokako brand which I've found is best served black.
No deep fryers or microwaves on site so much healthier food.
Beautiful, colourful looking cabinet food and a nice chilled vibe with down-tempo beats, free Wifi and aircon.

Pros: 100% Vegan, Fantastic Food especially raw sandwich & slices, Wonderful Staff

Cons: Short Hrs so no early breakfast or dinner, No outdoor space, Only seating for about 20-30

Good

Would recommend if you are health conscious. I like how they do things like make a wrap out of dehydrated vegetables. Some things have been hit and miss, like the pizza base was too tough and flavours/textures could be improved.

Pros: Everything is vegan

Beautiful Little Cafe

We popped in on our way up to KeriKeri and found it down a sweet arcade. Delicious healthy food - we had the soup, afgans and jackfruit pies- and a great chat with the owner. Picked up some of their raw seed bread (which was devoured in the next few days) and they were even kind enough to let us have a look at the 'baking' process. It will be compulsory for us to visit next time we're up North.
