Tasty and healthy - Edit
In town from Langley for softball provincials; we went in with a family of 6 and asked what they could make vegan after seeing this place on Happy Cow. They had many options available and we went with the burritos and tacos. Both were very flavorful and filling. Fresh salsa and chips with happy hour beverages too. Fantastic option in Port Alberni. Everyone loved their food.

My New Go-To Spot in Port Alberni - Edit
I visited Porto Taco yesterday, and I can happily report it most definitely offers many plant-based options. I ordered the Fiesta Rice Bowl (one of two potentially plant-based bowls on the menu) and a veggie taco. The proprietor asked if I eat vegan--I do, so they left out dairy too. Easily and cheerfully done.
Read moreI ordered both the Bowl and the taco because I was pretty hungry and I feared the bowl alond wouldn't be enough. I was wrong! The generous bowl included white rice and loads of veggies: cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, beet, mushroom, cabbage, and probably more I'm not recalling. Very, very tasty, and filling.
The taco was excellent too, and also a generous size. Two tacos (and no bowl) would make a nice meal.
I live about an hour away from Port Alberni and was in town to do some hiking in the vicinity. I'll definitely be stopping at Porto Taco every time I'm in the area now, but would likely go there weekly if I lived in Port.
I would rate 5 stars if Happy Cow allowed 5-star ratings for non-plant-based restaurants.

Nice surprise for Port Alberni - Edit
We did not have many expectations when we arrived in town but the burritos and salad bowls were very tasty. Pretty well everything can be made vegan and the chef advised us on what would taste best. Really nice staff too. Shame the app won’t let us give it five stars because it is not fully vegan.
