Great all around - Edit
I’ve been to Planta in Toronto so I already knew what I was expecting. The weather was prefect so I ate outside. The food was delicious. I knew how filling the dishes are and how tempting the menu is, so I prepared to not over order.

Good Vibes - Edit
Nice selection of options. We tried as many dishes as we could fit in. A couple were quite heavy on the ginger which overwhelmed the other flavors. The atmosphere was high energy but relaxing. They were packed on weekday but the food arrived fast and the waiter was attentive once we were seated (even with a reservation you may have to wait - which I didn’t mind since they don’t make you feel rushed.)
Read moreSecond outing they seem to have a little bit of a chaotic system with several different people coming to your table so you never really see your waiter after ordering. I tried the udon noodle dish that was ok. Nice to have a bit of a nicer restaurant for date night etc.

Upscale vegan restaurant - Edit
This place has three dollar signs for a reason, but their food is phenomenal. I’ve been here twice (at the time of writing this review) and both times the food and drinks were for the most part top-tier and worthy of their price.
Read moreThe first time I went was for dinner, and from start to finish everything was perfect. The bang bang broccoli is a classic for a reason and the dumplings we got (sweet corn?) were incredible and the sauce they used was so good I found myself wishing I had a soup of it, lol.
The next time I went was for brunch where the main dishes were outstanding, but my egg dish arrived a good 20 minutes before my date’s meal arrived, so I had my food just sitting there getting cold because I didn’t want to start eating without her. Then I ordered the chai cinnamon roll which came out overcooked (not at all soft and fluffy like you’d expect from a cinnamon roll). To the waiter’s credit, he put in a new one for me without hesitation, but sadly that one came out the same as the first.
I don’t want to dissuade anyone from this place, as they have some of the best vegan dishes you’ll find, and maybe that second visit was just an off day for them. It won’t be enough to stop me from going here or recommending this place to other people.

Mushroom Udon - Edit
One of the best places to take myself out. I love sitting at the bar, ordering a drink and a maki roll to start and ending with Udon; there is a reason the mushroom Udon is a rave fav.
Read moreOrdered dessert in a whim, it was insane, but probably best served for two.
Such fun takes on Japanese fare.

vegan hip fine dining - Edit
If you haven’t been your socks will be knocked off. The problem is deciding what to order. you want to order one of everything. Super chic vibe to start with. The general chow cauliflower with soft tofu is to die for can’t go wrong with any of the noodle dishes. Cool part of town that appears to be very safe compared to what you see in the news. Good job Planta queen!

Loved everything about it - Edit
The truffle udon noodles were amazing. Heavenly. The menu has a great variety, making it hard to choose (everything sounded delicious). If a Planta were to open in my city I would be there weekly, but it makes for a special treat when I am lucky enough to find one when traveling.

Sadly disappointed ): - Edit
My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and were pretty disappointed. The service was very slow, I wasn’t checking the time, but I don’t think our water came until 10 minutes after we were seated. My food came out at least 30 minutes before my husband’s so we couldn’t eat together. My pad Thai was crazy spicy, which it didn’t disclose. I don’t do well with spice so my husband ate it and I ate his fried rice. The mushroom fried rice was very bleh. It didn’t really have a good flavor, and the presentation was weird. My husband loved it though, so maybe it’s just me.
Read moreVery pricey for a place that allows gym shoes and athletic shorts, but that’s Chicago. The sushi pictured was $7 just for the two rolls. They were bland too.
Almost everything on the menu is spicy, so be careful if you’re sensitive to spice.

Love tha Planta - Edit
From Miami to Chicago, Planta is one my favorite vegan restaurants. This one lived up to the standard - brought my non-veg coworkers here and they loved it. Must try if you’re in the city.

Great for groups - Edit
Stopped here for an early dinner during a work conference. Fully plant based menu. Lots of flavor. Bang bang broccoli and gen. D cauliflower were quite good. The serving portions are huge though. Would have been better if it was more of a tapas style menu with smaller portions and appropriate pricing. Who wants to eat a giant plate of just cauliflower even if it’s great. Given that, it’s a great place to try out with a big group so you can order family style.

10 out of 5 - we loved it!! - Edit
This was a wonderful, vegan dinner with a great super friendly service! So many delicious choices, and many of them can be made gluten-free! we sat outside, which was very enjoyable! Highly recommend to make reservations as it is super busy! This is the best vegan place we’ve been to in the downtown Chicago area!

Fantastic - Edit
My wife and I had the chili peanut noodles, chili crisp tofu and bang bang broccoli to share. They were all spicy, delicious and very different from anything I've ever eaten. My wife thought the food was too spicy, but I thought it was perfect. Do not miss this place when visiting Chicago.

Excellent vegan sushi - Edit
Stopped here after a work conference weekend after making reservations weeks ahead and was pleased. Staff was great (Carla!!) And the menu was so hard to choose from. In the end we had the smashed sushi with truffle avocado crema and it was life changing, my Omni boss was shook! We also liked the bang bang broccoli, mushroom roll and the potato dumpling

Vegan Queens + Kings feast - Edit
Planta never disappoints, this vibrant Asian fusion planta Queen in the heart of Chicago stole my heart just as quick as the other locations I’ve visited. My new favorite dishes are the mushroom mapo and chili crisp tofu. The food comes out as it is ready, I will say this location is much slower to bring food out even when the restaurant was not busy. Six of us spent 2.5 hours here because we waited on main dishes over an hour. We had nowhere to be and enjoyed the vibes so it wasn’t a problem for us.

Delicious date night small bites - Edit
Everything is served for the table small plate style and the ambiance is definitely more upscale but we didn’t feel out of place dressed casually. Everything was good, some of it great. We found the gyoza a bit oily and the bang bang broccoli more work to eat than it was worth. The tots were amazing, the rainbow roll was a standout, and the dumplings had fantastic flavor. Service was definitely more rushed than it should for the price as well.

Amazing sushi, great service - Edit
Visiting Chicago for a few days and Planta Queen is near where we’re staying so we grabbed a reservation for dinner - highly recommended because even on a Monday, it was slammed.
Read moreOn Mondays they have half price maki rolls, so we ordered one noodle dish and a bunch of sushi. The Dan Dan noodles were good but the sushi was amazing. The crispy rice roll is SO good, along with any of the ones with watermelon “tuna.”
Service was fantastic if not a bit slow… kitchen was backed up a bit but the ambiance was so nice we didn’t even mind sitting there longer than expected.
Would definitely return again! Best meal we had in Chicago so far.

Amazing Brunch!! - Edit
We loved our Sunday brunch at Planta Queen in Chicago. We sat outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The street is closed to traffic through October so that made it really pleasant.
Read moreWe shared all of our entrees so we could sample more food options. Our hands down favorites were the corn flake crusted French toast and the Truffle scramble. The scramble had the feel and taste of real scrambled eggs, but even better! It came with “buttered” Texas toast and sliced avocado. Each item was great on its own and even better when eaten together. The French toast was so decadent with raspberry compote and a dollop of cream on top. The cinnamon role was also amazing, but had a lot of nutmeg in the icing.
The only item we did not care for was the waffle. It was very chewy and lacked flavor.
Pros: Delicious brunch food, Wonderful service and atmosphere , Easy to share
Cons: Waffles chewy and lacked flavor
