One of this city's three original pizzerias that's 100+ years old. Makes just 2 kinds of pizza: one with cheese and one without -- much like a few other pizza joints around here. Reported August 2021 to now offer four types of pizza. Open Mon-Sat 11:00-22:30.

1 Bite, Everyone Knows The Ruse - Edit
This place has been making pizza since 1870. A full pie will cost you 5 euro. The front door is covered with Michelin Guide stickers, from many years running. And it's in a Hollywood movie. So you can expect it to be very, very busy. A Hit or a Miss.. Depending on yr experience, that particular moment, yr time here will be vastly different from the next persons.
Read moreOur experience was awesome! It was Aug '22. There is such a vibe in those streets, we barely even stepped through the front doors. We enjoyed some Aperol drinks while we waited in line for 40 minutes to place our order and pay. Then waited another 50 minutes for our name to be called, and the pizza handed to us.
We stood at a little barrel table around the corner, in front of a wine store and gave 'er a try. The Marinara Pizza was Super Tasty! You can tell they use quality ingredients. Charred to perfection! My travelling companion, on the other hand, tried the Margherita pizza. It was pretty soggy, and soupy, thanks to the cheese. The pizza may have been sitting ready in the box a while.
But overall Great taste, Delicious dough and quality ingredients.
Could've used some Hot Sauce though!
If you planned yr whole trip around visiting this place, you might be disappointed. This was just a bonus in our trip and I'm glad we did it!
I give it a 9.2

Be prepared for a long wait - Edit
Waited for a long time and were almost turned away. Just as we lost hope our order was taken. The pizza was great! Think of the wait as part of the experience but don't come when starving. We did take away not sit in.

A truly memorable experience, worth the wait - Edit
This is one of the oldest pizzerias in the world (over 150 years old); and dining there is a truly unique experience. It's very popular, and the lineups are huge, however they seem pretty well used to catering for such volume and we had no problem getting a ticket for a table, going for a drink around the corner, and coming back just before our table was ready.
Read moreThe experience was truly memorable and the pizza was very special.
Totally worth the hype, and the wait.
Pros: Historically significant, Very well optimised for catering to crowds, Excellent pizza!
Cons: Very popular and lines can be long

Traditional pizza Neapolitan - Edit
If you want to try a traditional Neapolitan pizza, this is definitely the place to go.
Read moreIt might surprise you, because we are used to contemporary Neapolitan pizza accords the world.
But it’s very good!
There is almost no space to sit and it’s overcrowded, take away service is very quick, so if you don’t mind to eat it straight from the street it’s better
Pros: Take away service is quick

I waited nearly 1 h to get my Pizza Marinara. But I spoke with nice people in the queue and the waiting was worth it. Such a good Pizza, and naturally vegan. You have to try… the tomato sugo is unbelievable!

Waited for 40 minutes for take-away. (Got there around 16:20) pizza was honestly not great. Quite chewy and intense "burnt" taste. Probably better to get a table and eat super fresh, if the wait is comparable.

Great pizza but long wait! - Edit
We arrived at 11 a.m. (current opening time of the pizzeria) and waited for about 1 hour until we received our take away order! The quality and the price (5.50€) of the pizza is really great! Definitely worth the long waiting time!
Read moreThe whole process until you get your order is really unorganized, because there are two waiting line: one for take away and one for a table inside.

Waited for about 50 minutes to get a pizza for takeaway, and only a while later to realize they put a Margherita into my box (where the receipt clearly shows Marinara)... Unfortunately I had no time to get back and complain...

Great pizza, as expected - Edit
It was 5,5 euro for a pizza, which is a great price. In my country, Belgium, you easily pay 12 euro for a normal Margarita. We had the marinara and the margarita and we ate them on the steps just around the corner. There was a long wait if you want to be seated, but take away only took like 20 minutes. The pizza was sliced in four pieces. The taste was delicious, the dough was great, soft and crispy. How a pizza should be. The marinara was my favourite. Pure taste, with basil herbs.

Best marinara in the world - Edit
Still the best marinara in the world. The dough is spongy, soft and crispy all at the same time. It's wonderful that they have kept the prices so low despite the success.
Read moreI got there maybe 14.45 and I think the queue number was 8 and my number was 83. It took about 1,5 hours until it was my turn. I used the time by walking around the Centro Storico quarters, I came back a couple of times to check which number was on display. It was good that I stayed there by the pizzeria when the number was 60 or something because I think they waited that the restaurant was empty and cleaned and too more than 20 people in at once.
Pros: Super good pizza dough
Cons: Long waiting timw

Traditional must visit - Edit
As mentioned before, the pizza is delicious (although I had one I liked more in Napoli and even cheaper 😅) the queue is horrendous. But it’s one of those you must visit if you’re in the town:) €5,50 per pizza is good too

A Napoli must! - Edit
Da Michele is a must if you’re in Napoli. Not the best pizza I ever had, but definitely up there.
Read moreWe went for the full experience and decided to wait in line for a table.
If you don’t fancy waiting 30-40 minutes then order a takeaway or go sit in the bar across the street and ask them to order the pizza for you. They will bring it to you when ready.
I totally understand the hype of this place. Don’t miss out!
Pros: Cheap, Authentic
Cons: Long queues, Not the best service

It's more of a happening, because why would you otherwise wait for over an hour for your pizza? While in line, there is some time to look at the baking of the pizza's.
