Created a separate vegan menu in 2018 offering choices including: starters like marinated olives and vegan dough balls, multiple varieties of pizzas (uses vegan cheese & faux meats), an al forno penne pasta, alcoholic drinks like cider and beer, fruit sorbet and carrot cake for dessert. Decent vegan menu - Edit
Most places were closed in Kendal when we visited but pizza express had a good menu, excellent service and clean restaurant. Safe choice for vegans and didn’t feel like an afterthought. All good.

For the main, I had the Vegan Funghi Di Bosco as I'm a big fan of mushrooms. In hindsight, after I realised that I'd tried that one last time at Pizza Express so I wished I had tried one of the other vegan pizza options!
Dessert wise, there was only a Sorbet or Stem ginger cake and they are advertised as 'mini' desserts served with coffee so decided not to bother

Decent choices - Edit
It's a good place to come if you have omnis in your party so everyone can enjoy the food. There are lots of decent choices for vegans. But 3 stars as it's a chain restaurant and pretty expensive.

We hadn’t been to Pizza Express for a while so we were both blown away by the incredible amount of choice on the new and improved vegan menu. We actually had to ask for another couple of minutes to make our decision - that NEVER happens!
Read moreAs always, we ordered a couple of starters because clearly neither of us are capable of making decisions. We had olives, hot jalapeño dough balls and mozzarella garlic bread. I don’t know why we were sceptical about the dough balls being their “hottest yet” but our skepticism was entirely misplaced. They were hot! Hot but tasty!
Tom then had the Sloppy Vegan with added jackfruit “pepperoni” and I had the Vegan Giardiniera. Not sure if I’ve spelt that correctly - I certainly didn’t pronounce it correctly at the time. 😂
The food was all delicious and the staff were really friendly. One of the highlights was the horrified look that the waitress gave Tom when he asked if he could add the jackfruit “pepperoni”. Serves him right for being so greedy. 😛
