Limited vegan options, overpriced. Even the non vegan dishes are a joke. „Brunch“ here is just one boiled egg, few small pieces of cheese and bread and a sliver of butter. All on a cold plate. No effort put into it. Do not go there.

Nous sommes venus à ‘Ou Bien Encore’ pour un brunch vegan, et on a été déçus de découvrir que le menu a complètement changé. Le restaurant n’est pas seulement plus vegan, ayant devenu végétarien récemment par changement de propriétaire, mais que les options végétariennes ne pouvaient pas être adaptées en vegan, sauf une seule option médiocre. Notre serveuse nous a rassuré qu’ils essayaient de rester fidèles à leur clientèle vegan mais qu’ils travaillaient encore sur le menu, et donc il y avait peu de choix aujourd’hui.

Ayant consulté le site du restaurant avant de venir, comme d’habitude, on n’a trouvé aucune information sur la suppression des option vegan et de ce changement radical du restaurant.
Non seulement on a été rencontré par un menu du quel on ne pouvait presque rien manger, on a aussi dû attendre assez longtemps pour être servi, on s’était installés dans la salle de derrière, au point qu’on s’est cru oubliés.
La portion de la seule option offerte était petite pour le prix du plat. La focaccia a été replacée par un toast et la salade était trop salée, qu’elle était immangeable. On a aussi pris un granola, qui n’était pas présenté en tant qu’une option, seulement par avoir entendu la serveuse dire qu’ils avaient un yaourt végétal et avoir demandé si le granola ne contenait pas de miel et que donc c’était possible de la faire végane aussi.
A la fin de notre repas, la serveuse était sympathique que nous avions trouvé peu d’options, et que nos salades étaient pas bonnes. Au lieu d’offrir les plats, ou même un plat, ce qui serait plus évident, on a eu deux cafés gratuits.
Je comprends complètement que le changement de propriétaire affecte le menu, et les ajustements prennent du temps, mais dans ce cas il faudrait faire extrêmement clair sur le site et les réseaux sociaux que le menu est pas finalisé pour que d’autres clients ne se trouvent pas désagréablement surpris. Ou bien, il faudrait changer de nom et faire un rebranding, puisque pour le moment ‘Ou Bien Encore’ représente toujours faussement le restaurant vegan qu’il était il y a pas si longtemps.

« Ou bien encore » était une de mes références en terme de lieu vegan à Genève. Maintenant, ils ont quelques plats adaptables en vegan mais tous contiennent de l’œuf ou du fromage, la serveuse insiste à plusieurs reprises pour que je prenne avec l’œuf (comment dois-je dire autrement que je suis végane ?).

Presque tous les plats sont végétariens (certains gâteaux sont véganes). Donc pour les véganes, on enlève les produits animaux et on ne les remplace pas toujours par un produit végane. C’est assez bon, mais pas délicieux et les quantités sont trop petites.

Tartes/mini-pies, cakes, cookies, etc. were some of the best gluten-free desserts I’ve had anywhere in Europe or the US. The entire restaurant is gluten-free. Almost everything was vegan, but one cookie was vegetarian. Staff speak English and are extremely helpful with vegan or food-allergy questions.

I was expecting a fully vegan place as listed on Happy Cow and mentioned in other reviews but this is a vegetarian place. It even says so on their FB page (see screenshot) They serve eggs and honey. That kind of took me by surprise.

The brunch was amazing!! Big plate of tasty, healthy, varied and seasonal savoury foods. The cakes were incredible too, I especially loved the cheesecake with red fruits as it was much less dense/heavy than cheesecakes tend to be. And, important bonus: good coffee.
