Lovely, friendly cafe

We were just passing through Oxford and were lucky enough to spot this place hidden down an alleyway. They have a lot of vegan options, including the delicious vegan breakfast, which has some unusual and tasty elements such as fried potatoes, roasted veg & falafel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place has a nice cosy atmosphere. Will definitely be back when I next visit Oxford.

Pros: Tasty food, Good value, Friendly staff

Fair vegan food - nothing special

Nice option within the city, but the vegana dish was very basic

Delicious iced Chai latte

During my stay in Oxford I visited this cafe a few times. It is a cafe but they also sell fruits and vegetables. I came here for a drink. I did not know the cafe was about to close at 4 pm, so at 4 pm I came in and ordered a iced Chai latte and a matcha ball. The owner assured us to take it easy and told us that he would open longer because more guests were coming. The owner was very friendly. The iced Chai latte was really tasty and the matcha ball was good, not too sweet. We decided to come back the next morning for breakfast.

They open at 8 am, but serve breakfast from 09.30 am (this was on a Sunday). Please keep this in mind if you want to visit this cafe for breakfast. I chose the porridge. The portion was small and it was a very simple dish. It tasted good, but the porridge was topped with a few berries and a bit of banana and that was it. It could be better, definitely considering the price of the dish.

In Oxford there are not many cafes with vegan options, so I would recommend to visit this cafe and to try their drinks and sweets.

Pros: Friendly owner , Good matcha balls , Try the iced Chai latte

Good option in Oxford

The owner of the place is very friendly. We ended up having a drink here around closing time but it was not a problem. The iced chai and iced matcha were both tasty and the matcha ball was also tasty and not really sweet which we like. They also sell some fruit & veg which is convenient.

While having a drink we talked a bit, which eventually made us come back to have breakfast the next day because he clarified that the porridge on the menu could be made plantbased. We just enjoy starting the day with a wholesome breakfast and you can't really go wrong with porridge. It was a really simple dish however, just topped with a little fruit. We felt it was a bit overpriced. However, it is very hard to find local independent cafes in Oxford like this one. There are lots of chain restaurants and cafes which I do not particularly like, so would always prefer going here over those places. It is not the best cafe/deli I visited, but certainly good enough.

Pros: Vegan options, Also fruit & veg for sale , Plant milk for drinks

We called in for breakfast before our visit to the Ashmolean. Ordered eggs on toast and a Vegan Breakfast which was delicious. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, clean and stylish.

Tasteless food

The staff were friendly and the inside is lovely. However we were really disappointed with the food we ordered. Both dishes were bland and uninteresting. It was expensive too but I wouldn’t mind paying that much for good food.

Pros: Plenty of vegan choices , Nice interior, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive , Bland

Quiet and cosy with good variety

We went here on quite a busy Friday in Oxford during graduation season. It was pleasingly quiet so we were able to sit down and not feel rushed.

There was a good amount of vegan options and I had the breakfast which was lovely: mushrooms (just right, not greasy), beans, 1/2 tomato, toast, falafel... it was a decent portion which I managed to finish.

(My friend had French toast and said it could/should have been eggier but I was happy with reduced egg use as a vegan ;-)

I'd definitely go back as it's so relaxing to go somewhere so close to the town centre but not a hectic place and not a chain.

Pros: Quiet and nice ambiance, Good selection of food

One of my favourites!

The food can sometimes be a bit so-so but in general its quite good and it makes up for it in ambience. Its a great place to chill, its often not very full (outside of lunchtimes) and the staff are friendly and don't mind if you sit for hours. The hot chocolate's pretty good and for a long time it was the only place in oxford you could get a vegan breakfast.

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Cakes can be a bit dry

Good for breakfast

Hidden away in a laneway but worth finding. We had the vegan breakfast for 9.95 and the avo toast. One issue with the avo was that they mixed in chopped tomato, which was OK, and chopped raw onion, which gave me onion breath all morning. Friendly staff and plenty of tables. They also have several vegan items in their ground floor shop.

Pros: Good for breakfast.

A regular customer

I am a regular at this little cafe. I have been here as a none vegan and now as a vegan. I find the staff friendly and offer a lot of options for me and my mother who is gluten intolerant. There are vegan cakes and my favorite is the apple and cinnamon. The vegan chilli is a must try if you visit on a rainy day. Can run out of food throughout the day.

Pros: Lots of vegan and gluten free options, Offer homemade vegan cakes, Delicious hearty meals

Cons: On the pricey side, Can run out of food if busy

Awful

Me and my dad came to oxford wanting to go to another cafe however we went in the wrong direction and ended up here! The food was AWFUL! The falafel salad seemed to not have been freshly prepared, just some salady bits & 3 packaged falafel thrown on a plate, the hummus wasn’t even hummus and the croque monsieur my dad has was just ham and cheap melted cheese on bread! It was also quite expensive for what it was, very disappointing and won’t be visiting again sadly :(

Vegan Brekky

Found this after doing a bit of research before getting to Oxford as I am vegan.
We had two vegan breakfasts. These vary all over the country. This one was very good, verging on excellent. The only reason I haven't given excellent was that some of the food on the plate was only just warm. The quality generally was very good, generous portion size and reasonable price. Coffee fine too.
Nice quirky, homely feel to the inside and a very quirky outside seating area. COSY !

Pros: Honest Vegan Brekky, no pretend meat, Nice space to eat, quirky

Nice cafe with some vegan options

Nice cafe with lots of seating, they ran out of brown bread and the white bread had dairy in it, but they had falafel salad. The salad was nice, but only three falafel balls! The chocolate cake was good, with a slight taste of banana, the fruit cake was good as well.

Delicious vegan breakfast

This cafe is tucked away in a quiet alleyway (Friar's Entry) and was a great find. There were several vegan options - we had the vegan breakfast which was well presented, good value and an interesting selection including my favourite falafel. The staff were delightful and helpful and we left with vegan apple cinnamon cake and chocolate brownie for later. What a deal! We were just visiting Oxford for the day so are unlikely to pay a return visit but if we lived locally we would most definitely be regulars.

Pros: Excellent choice, Lovely staff

Shame it's not 100% vegan!

Really lovely spot for lunch. Had the tofu scramble and an iced coffee, vegan options aren't labelled but are easy to ask about, staff were friendly and the place was really nice in general.

Pros: A few vegan options breakfasts, salads and sandwic, Nice interior, "secret garden" is cute

Cons: Bit pricey but it is Oxford

great breakfast

Really nice place with good food, friendly staff and good atmosphere. I had the vegan breakfast and highly recommend it (comes with good bread and vegan butter, good mix of roasted veg). I also took a smoothie which unfortunately had a lot of plastic packaging around it even though I was eating in.

Pros: friendly staff, good food, good atmosphere and location

Cons: plastic packaging on smoothies unnecessary

this is not highly recommended enough

You NEED to come here! Not only is the atmosphere amazing for studying, friends, even dating, but they have vegan chocolate cake, TOFU SCRAMBLE, full vegan breakfast, matcha latte etc I can't even.
Im avoiding oil so went for the sourdough ALT (avocado sandwich), would recommend as a healthy choice

Great location

Really handy central location. We were warned that the kitchen was busy and that food may be a while but it wasn't as long as expected and we were pleased to get in out of the rain. I enjoyed a toasted hummus and falafel sandwich which came with a salad garnish. There was one other vegan sandwich (or you can request variations, the staff were helpful and friendly), salads and jackets plus vegan cooked breakfast. Several vegan cakes as well.

Pros: Central location, Friendly staff, Organic

Cons: Omni, Soya milk tax (+50p for soya in your tea/coffee)
