Very Tasty - Edit
The decor is very touristy, but don't let it fool you, the food is absolutely amazing. Nepal is full of yummy vegan food but OR2K is definitely a stand out.

Kinda touristy - Edit
We went just the once as it was kinda touristy with the dishes and prices. It has a good WiFi connection and the food was pleasant enough. We were just looking for something more local

Great options - Edit
They have a few vegan options and some dishes that can be veganized. However my favourite part is the atmosphere of the place. It's great for coming to hangout for an afternoon. Most of the tables are on the floor with pillows so you can just relax and it's great.

Great spot! Creme brûlée a must try!! - Edit
Good food and a nice vibe, we loved this restaurant in Thamel. Although you sit on the floor, it was still comfy for my 6 foot 5 frame, which isn't always the case in some places. We went here a couple of times and tried different dishes. The smoothie bowl was amazing as was the vegan shakshuka. The staff were helpful and told us everything that could be made vegan. The vegan Creme brûlée is a must try, it was amazing and we wanted to go back just for that!

Beautiful vegan restaurant - Edit
Although a little hard to find, the food here is top notch! I personally didn't like the Buddah bowl I had, but the middle Eastern dishes were incredible, and their deserts were to die for! The Oasis smoothie bowl was especially tasty. Also serves delicious drinks, both alcoholic and not. However, a little pricey (just hummus and naan/ chapatti is 290 npr)

Vegan heaven in Pokhara & Kathmandu - Edit
I have tasted all the vegan options on the menu (🙈) and never walked out unsatisfied. Lovely food and cosy atmosphere, especially the restaurant in Pokhara has a very beautiful view.

2.5 stars - Edit
The place definitely has a cool vibe, there’s a big variety of dishes - all vegetarian, many vegan options. The food itself is very average. I tried all sorts of meals there and only liked the salads and the French fries. I ordered soufflé for dessert and it came completely burnt and tasteless.
Read moreBesides the food the service there is very disappointing. Not enough waiters for the whole place and they were very indifferent to us.
I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a place to drink something or chill for awhile, but definitely don’t expect much of the food and service.
Also it is mostly packed with people and it’s kinda noisy so if you’re looking for a place to work quietly or read maybe not the best option.

Deservedly popular with great food and ambience - Edit
Having been in Kathmandu for a week now, this is my favourite place in Thamel so far. It has two large rooms on two levels, both nicely and inventively decorated, and bright. It can be very busy, so a little loud, at times - but that gives it a lively feel. I have enjoyed my various menu choices which include vegan options. There are old comments here about poor staff attitude, but I think they don’t apply any more. I have found the guys very responsive and courteous, and speedy enough. They have replaced plastic straws with paper, and I applaud that choice.

We had the vegan Turkish platter to share. It was really tasty. We also loved the pumpkin chocolate pie. Vegan options are easy to spot in the menu. This is our favourite place in Kathmandu.

Good atmosphere, bad service - Edit
Service is exactly as described. Very absentminded. We met a few friends here and arrived after they ordered it took a while and some gesturing to get the attention of the wait staff to order. Saying this, it didn’t ruin our experience at all. Food was good. We shared the OR2K combo platter. It was too much food for two of us. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Very nice for a dinner with some friends and a few drinks. Music level was fine.

For our shared meal 2 big Everest beers bill came to 1700ruppees. Not too bad

This is a cool spot in Kathmandu. It feels very backpacker trendy and has an extensive menu. The Buddha Bowl is yummy and filling. I also recommend the fresh tomato juice (salty version).

Overrated - Edit
Unfortunately OR2K is extremely overrated.
Read moreIn addition to their food being flat-out average, they are overpriced, and their service is definitely the worst I've experienced in Nepal.
I'm not one to complain about service. I really don't care as long as I get my food. I don't need someone to check up on me, be polite, etc. However, the service here is incredibly slow and incompetent. When I went for dinner, I counted 8 waiters literally standing around doing nothing while myself and several other diners were trying to get various things.
I tried their falafel and their veg pakoda. Both were just average, under-seasoned, and neither was hot.
I wouldn't return.
Pros: Ambiance, Large vegetarian menu, Vegan options
Cons: Slow service, Overpriced, Pretentious

Cozy restaurant with lots of vegan options - Edit
This place has mixed reviews but I personally loved it. I have been here so many times with my friends during our time in Nepal. Love the “hippie” atmosphere, sitting on the floor and the paintings on the wall. Food is delicious and there are lots of options for vegans and they’re clearly marked on the menu. Service is a little slow though but the place is always packed.

I wanted to like it - Edit
I genuinely wanted to love this place as it has so much to be perfect but I just can’t! The staff is just incredibly rude! They truly need training and costumer service skills! I’ve seen some pretty shocking stuff like the barmen drinking directly from the water jug (the same one that everyone uses to put water in their glasses!) I asked if was ok to replace one item with other and was pretty much attacked! And had pretty much beg to even order food as no one was paying attention! Sad that this place can’t be bother in having competent staff..! Also, vegans are gonna have hard time here as most stuff has cheese on it!
Read morePros: It’s a pretty place
Cons: Expensive for the quality you get , Worst costumer service I’ve seen in a while , Non vegan friendly

should have 5 stars. - Edit
I was so surprised that I found one of the coolest, poshest ‘in’ spots in the Vegan Universe here in Kathmandu. When you arrive you take off your shoes and you sit on the floor on Large area rugs. The atmosphere is upscale tribal if that makes any sense. The menu can easily be navigated for Vegan, while it is hailed as a vegetarian restaurant. I had the Mediterranean assortment. Also they have a full wine list, beer selection and full liquor bar with a craft cocktail menu. They have it all: vegan food, atmosphere, cool people watching, service, alcohol ha ha. If you’re in town, not to be missed!

Vegan-unfriendly - Edit
I walked in and asked politely if they had a vegan menu and they said they did. I was given the standard menu with one page of snacks some of which were marked vegan. I asked if any of the main courses were vegan and got blank looks and the staff just ignored me and carried on a conversation among themselves so i departed. I did not particularly like the vibe of the place. I would not even give this place one star. I found two vegan friendly places nearby and dined at them instead: "Sarangi" and "Place" both of which i do recommend to vegans.

Amazing place - Edit
Super cute vegetarian restaurant with a lovely vibe and atmosphere. Need to remove shoes before entering restaurant. Floor seating with lots of pillows, but can be uncomfortable if too crowded. Very popular among non-locals/tourists.
Read moreThe menu has neon decorations and there is an amazing variety of food. Portions are decently large so it's good for sharing (e.g. pies come with rice and house salad) and every dish we tried tasted amazing! They have many vegan options with fresh salads and homemade dips/mezze etc. They even have tofu scramble for egg substitute at breakfast.
Pros: Atmosphere, decor, Variety and quality of food
Cons: Western food rather than traditional Nepalese food

Terrible experience - more than once - Edit
The restaurant itself is cosy with a nice atmosphere - it's always full of travellers. Food is nice but way overpriced, plus the tax and service on top. Staff have no idea what's vegan and we have been given conflicting info many times. Suspect we have been given non vegan items on the assurance that it was fine, which is disgusting especially in a place advertising itself vegan friendly. Staff are often rude and so unhelpful. Ordered soy iced coffee shake (my fave) and it was so awfully sweet that I couldn't drink it - it's never been that way before so assumed it was a mistake. Took two sips and took it up to staff to ask for a new one and was met with a blanket no - this after them talking above me in Nepali to each other. Awful service. There are better, cheaper places - Places Restaurant for example!

Ignore old posts, this is one of the best - Edit
So I wanted to post because some of the old reviews say that there is smoking here. Indeed I was here many years ago and it was like that, but now it's much classier of a joint, no smoking whatsoever. It is a sit on the floor type of restaurant which is my favorite style.
Read moreThe food is solid, clean, and well done. I give them 5 stars for their being ahead of the curve in Nepal about gluten free items.
I've had the falafel which is really good, I see that with the last reviewer that the hummus and tahini are slightly bland for my taste, but I get a side of lemon and it solves that. The pumpkin soup is great if you are looking for something lighter. Their pesto pasta was decadent, I couldn't believe I finished the whole thing. And I don't know of any other restaurant that serves gluten free pasta. You can order gf buckwheat roti in place of most bread, a very thoughtful addition.
The platters are a lot of food, for at least 2 people. And the chocolate pumpkin tart is excellent. The flavors may not blast your mind especially if you are from the west, but each dish is thoughtfully executed that I've tried so far and look forward to more.
Pros: Great food, accomodates gf/vegans, Relaxing sit down on floor environment, Nice music selection that transports you to 60's
Cons: No rooftop (at least in wintertime)

Good food but very touristy - Edit
Went to this place so many times but I only eat three things of the menu. The falafel plate, which was super delicious but the hummus was a bit tasteless. The pumpkin soup (good) and the tomato soup (very good). I swapped the bread with the buckwheat roti which was very good and tasted nice with the soups.
Read moreThe menu was not easy to read when looking for vegan options as some of the V's were placed on non vegan food :/ and I found it difficult to talk to the staff as the music was a bit loud and I wasn't sure if they understood the meaning of vegan.
The vegan chocolate pumpkin tart was so delicious - it is a must try!
Pros: Cosy atmosphere, Quick staff, short waiting on food, even when busy
Cons: Complicated menu, Loud music (sometimes)

The BEST! - Edit
Have been so often I've lost count! Always delicious! The eggplant starter is amazing and easy to overlook. Also at the back of the menu the stuffed vegie platter is well worth a try. Big portions, easy to share. Amazing deserts and the best mint lemonade in town.
