Great Takoyaki! - Edit
We are vegan and allergic to gluten. Until now, there were no vegan takoyaki around Namba and Shinsaibashi stations. We had given up on trying the local cuisine, but we have found the one and only takoyaki.
Read moreIt was wonderful. We ordered the takoyaki plate and the 1500 yen kushikatsu, both of which are vegan and gluten-free. The takoyaki is made with soybeans instead of wheat flour, so it is very healthy and hearty. Drinks are only 200 yen and you can make your own. My friend was pleased with the wide variety of scotch and bourbon. Gluten free beer is also available for 200 yen. Highly recommended.
Pros: affordable, All Vegan Menu Also suitable for gluten-free, Cool Place

Long wait for a osaka classic - Edit
If you have never experienced the famous Takoyaki as a vegan then for sure visit this place as the food is quite good and i was so happy to be able to have this as a vegan how ever wait time was very long and the space while I get the vibe is "cool"..for anyone not in their 20s or younger the last thing you want after walking around osaka all day is to stand or eat shoulder to shoulder in a tight area... prepare to be uncomfortable for a good food experience.

It's a cute restaurant filled with messages scrawled over the walls by previous customers. Music is great and a wide variety of both Japanese and Western songs from all decades. Great selections of drinks and taloyaki varieties. Definitely worth a visit.

Okay food but awesome place - Edit
A must go for the experience but food was only okay. The atmosphere and service were excellent but must admit I was a little disappointed by the flavor. It wasn't bad, maybe my expectations were too high. Would still definitely recommend trying it out!

Punky in best way. Delicious, unique okra based flour. So stoked to be able to have tokayaki finally, so yum. Owner was smashing it by herself with crazy rush happening. Also loved the self serve drinks situation.

Good food - Edit
My first takoyaki so didn't know what to expect. Went at about 7pm, had to wait about 20 mins in a queue. Food was tasty and it was self serve drinks where you can make your own cocktail/pour your own wine/beer. Quite a small/cramped space but the lady is very nice and the place is cute.

The best place I’ve eaten in Japan so far - Edit
This place is amazing.
Read moreThe food is great, the owner is lovely and the concept is bizarre in the best way.
Cannot recommend it highly enough. I had the vegan okonomiyaki with vegan cheese and the gyoza. Both were great (maybe the gyoza were slightly over done but that’s me being picky).
All drinks are the same price (¥200) and you help yourself as there is only one woman running the place.
I queued for a while to get in but so worth it. I’m going back again tonight.
Also should add that the address on google is wrong. The real place is just around the corner. See photos

A charming must-visit - Edit
Went here when the line for OKO Okonomiyaki was too long and so glad we did. A tiny little restaurant with so much heart served up delicious vegan and GF takoyaki. Portions were huge and didn't have to miss out on sampling Osaka's famous treat because of Oko! The line was around 45 mins on a Saturday night, but if you have the time, it's 100% worth it.

Good food, but I wasn't blown away - Edit
In 2019 we tried Takoyaki for the first time. This was not a vegan one, so when we found out about a vegan cafe, we were very excited. Especially after visiting Oko Okonomiyaki the day before.
Read moreThe food was okay, but not as great as I was hoping for. The cafe had the same vibes as their sister restaurant, but it lacked the atmosphere we experienced at Okonomiyaki.
Overall I would advice you to go, since it's a good Vegan option if you want to find out what Osaka's most well-known food is all about. The price is good, and the concept is amazing. i hope the ladies will win the hearts of Japan, so that more of these restaurants open everywhere.
Pros: Music, Concept of vegan Takoyaki , You can leave a message on their walls
Cons: Atmosphere wasn't as good as at Okonomiyaki

Vegan takoyaki! - Edit
As a vegan in Osaka, I never thought I’d get to try takoyaki, but this place (thankfully) proved me wrong. Just plain yummy, saucy, comfort food. The spicy takoyaki did not disappoint and had a nice kick to it.
Read moreOutside of the food, the place has a cool underground vibe, with old Green Day blasting on the stereo, pour-yourself drinks (check out their Instagram page for video tutorials on how this works), and this cosy restaurant is also plastered with signs about general niceness and history of the restaurant’s origins.
Oh, and if you’re into pickles, get the pickles as a side order. You won’t regret it.
Pros: The vibe, Vegan takoyaki!, Pickles

Must-Visit in Osaka! - Edit
Geschmacklich 10/10 👍🏼

What a FUN place!!! - Edit
On our overnight port stop in Osaka, we ventured out to find this place. Apple Maps had a bit of trouble locating it, but we ran across the "other" vegan place a few blocks away. We stood in line for about 15 minutes and it looked like it was going to be over an hour wait. I checked Happy Cow and found that this place is still listed as OKOTAKO, so we trekked a few more blocks, looked around the area, and finally found it on the second story of the corner building. Only 2 couples waiting ahead of us.
Read moreWe only waited for about 20 minutes before being welcomed into this TINY place. We ordered at the counter after choosing what we wanted while waiting in line. We sat at the only space available and looked in wonder at all of the handwritten notes on the walls, the little blurbs that were posted about the restaurant, and scanned through the drink "menus". We ordered the soy sauce takoyaki and the salted sesame oil takoyaki in addition to an order of edamame and two orders of kushikatsu. Two drinks were ordered, as well.
Getting a drink Is its own little adventure! First, take a good look at the drink "station" and make sure you read all the signs. You'll find the cups beneath a countertop used for eating, and some syrups beneath the refrigerator, but around the corner from the front. The drink "menus" are little cards that describe what you need to mix to make the drink listed. All of the ingredients are located somewhere at the drink station. Be patient! It'll pay off. Nobody squeezed the chicken when we were there, so not sure if that's really a thing or not. Maybe just to notify the proprietor that you're going into the fridge to get something.
The food was made a la minute after ordering, so it's guaranteed fresh. Instructions on how to eat the takoyaki are posted on the wall. Split it open with your chopsticks and let it cool a bit before eating so you don't burn yourself! We liked the salted sesame oil better than the soy sauce. The kushikatsu was fun to eat because we played guess the ingredient to determine what we were eating. I'll admit there were some things I was surprised to get, but everything was tasty! The edamame was a good-sized portion, too.
With the lack of plentiful seating, we ate our meals, not hurriedly, mind you, but with an awareness that there were people waiting to get in. There's just enough time to peruse the walls and figure out how to make yourself a drink while your food is being prepared.
Pros: Fun, fun, fun! Take in all the whimsy!, Mix your own drinks! (See menu!)
Cons: Not a lot of seating, Might be a long wait

Come early as it tends to get quite crowded pretty early. Laid-back atmosphere and you'll be busy reading signs, and messages on the wall whilst waiting. You'll not get bored.

There is a little lottery when ordering the skewers 🍢. If you end up with a red tip on your skewers you win a drink of you choice - pretty nice. 🍸🍾

First time eating Takoyaki. It was nice especially with the sauce but probably will not end up before vegan ramen & sushi in my favorites list.
The red coleslaw was too dry and imo they should add vinegar or so. But maybe just because i am used to eat it like that.

可以推薦給第一次吃蔬食章魚燒的客人。 - Edit

Worth the long wait - Edit
This place is tiny and waits can be long, but it’s worth it. You will have the chance to try a vegan and gluten free version of a popular street food. The owner works by herself and she really puts the effort into trying to make her takoyaki healthy (or at least healthier) by using soy instead of flour and focusing on god ingredients. The food is still fried (or maybe air fried) and feels junky to eat but doesn’t make your body feel bad after. The beer is good (and there are gf beers available) as well. The vibe is great but you will feel guilty lingering if the line is long. Keep this in mind if you come by; you will probably wait and it might get frustrating, but it’s worth it. If you have to wait more than 30 minutes, tell the owner and she will comp you a drink!
