Great spot! - Edit
Recently moved to the area and we love that we found a go-to vegan spot with great food & atmosphere. Bit on the pricier side, but I’ll still give 5 stars. They have amazing burgers, wraps, and they just opened their deli - the cheese is AMAZING! Live music in the patio is a bonus.

Great a must try - Edit
Great vegan South African food. We order appetizers I can tell you the shrimps and the rolls are amazing a must but they are big. Does Chachalaca sandwich entrée is so good yum and the potato salad is amazing. The desserts wow. Let me not start on the deli meats and cheese made in house. The decor is so cute and eclectic. Also fun fact there is one in South Africa 🇿🇦

I got the vish. It wasn't very good. Way too thick. Thinner pieces would be better. The vibs were okay. Loved the kale. Loved the strawberry shake.

No thx - Edit
I’ll skip it next time. Business owner was really rude. The whole place is pretty weird, including the food, and the aggressively condescending vegan signage made me embarrassed to bring an omni there to eat.

the best EVER - Edit
This place is the coolest outdoor seating i’ve ever been to. They had music, fun decor, and even a table with cucumber, watermelon, and lemon water to get. My mom and I shared the chicken bacon ranch wrap and loaded sweet potato w jalapeño hush puppies and kale salad. All were absolutely stunnnnning! This was the second time i’ve been and it was even better than the first!! Ooo and we also had the banana pudding which was HEAVENLY🙋🏼♀️💪👏👏i’m very upset that i forgot to take a picture of the food- it was just too good to stare at any longer and not eat

awesome food, pretentious atmosphere, hard to hear staff at all - Edit
First and foremost, OMG, the food is awesome. Go there very hungry. Fast if you have to make room. And order a few different things to nibble on. You won't regret it. I had the waka waka with pumpkin fritters and a croissant (every bit as good as those you find in a Parisian boulangerie).
Read moreAs a vegan I felt welcome and comfortable there. But if I were bringing non-vegan friends to try vegan food, I might feel the need to apologize for all of the kind of militant vegan propaganda hanging all over the place. That part seems a bit not welcoming.
One easy thing to fix: they had loud music playing, but the speakers were positioned near where patrons interact with staff (at the bar, at the order counter). Combined with use of masks, I was struggling to hear anything they were saying. If the speakers are hard to move, maybe just turn the music down. The staff seemed very friendly, but for all I knew they could have been saying unkind things about my mother. I wish I could have heard them and had maybe better conversations about what they recommend.
Pad in extra time for parking and bring good walking shoes.
Also... not wheelchair accessible during my visit anyway.
Pros: food is awesome, upbeat cheery colors
Cons: loud music, $$$, parking

Cool vibes and concept. - Edit
We came from out of town and was happy about this for a choice went several times. Had the breakfast sandwich really good, impossible burger tasty! Price is very reasonable. Did not particularly care for any of the fried options they were all somewhat disappointing as far as texture and flavor but all the sandwiches and waffles we had were good!!! I had: Buddha Bowl, Vichen Bacon Ranch Wrap, Impossible Burger, Vichen waffle sandwich, Howzit Bru, Cinnamon Roll, I would order all again; The Jalapeño poppers, Pumpkin Fritters, White Chocolate Ganache probably wouldn’t order again but it wasn’t terrible.

They are not plant based , they are vegan and do their part of activism along with serving 100% cruelty-free food , to a customer base that is 98% meat eaters. They are a small business with a purpose and a strong cause to make a difference in this world . Saving animals one plate at a time! Friendly , helpful, informative staff. Huge menu selection. To go or dine in on a beautiful patio that offers a full on bar with all alcohol being 100% vegan and also live music supporting local artists. 100% South African owned, with a diverse staff and authentic recipes💪🏻

Missed the mark - Edit
I was so excited to try this place because the menu sounded delicious but during ordering we quickly realized that they are not very accommodating to modifications which I can understand if it’s excessive but as a pregnant vegan with strong onion aversions I was disappointed that some things couldn’t be omitted. I also was disappointed in the taste of the food. Nice people but I don’t think I’ll be back.

Best food I’ve ever had - Edit
First time I’ve been here. FOR SURE will be back. The atmosphere was extremely chill and the food was absolutely stunning. Everything was phenomenal, I laughed when I finished my food because it struck me that it was the best food I have been able to enjoy in such a long time. I had such a hard time picking one item so I didn’t. The Vicken waffle sandwich and the pumpkin fritters paired sooooooo absolutely well together and the rainbow rolls were so light and refreshing.

Incredible Experience - Edit
This is hands down the best vegan restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of dining at.
Read moreThe atmosphere is incredible, from the cozy inside with lots of animal decorations and signs, to the outside with beautiful artwork and a very nice outdoor dining setup with heaters and a big tent.
The people who work there are wonderful. You can tell they care about animals, great food and providing the best customer service around.
The food- where do I begin?! It's the best food I've eaten in my entire life, even pre-vegan days. They have put their heart and soul into the restaurant and the menu and it shows.
If you get the chance to go, take it! No restaurant will ever compare. Many have one aspect or another, but Oh My Soul has covered all the bases with an enjoyable experience and delicious food!
Try the Vish & Chips or the BBQ V Ribs.
Pros: The food , Friendly staff, Fun atmosphere
Cons: Parking is challenging

Fabulous experience!!! - Edit
Today (February 3, 2021) was my first visit to Oh My Soul in NoDa and I hope to be back many times. Love the food, the people, the dedication to vegan principles, etc. I took a friend to celebrate her birthday and we had Zingalings for an appetizer and we each ordered a special sandwich; hers was the Durbanite and mine was the Cape Townian. Everything was delicious! Vegan comfort food with a South African slant, I suppose. We both LOVED it!!! Lots of great food and a very pleasant atmosphere with super friendly staff. Thank you all!

Hidden Gem! - Edit
First visit to Oh My Soul and after the Friday night experience with my family, we will visit often! The food was amazing ... and we are all meat eaters! Our family shared a variety of things recommended by the staff - the Buddha Bowl (family favorite), Voerie Roll (just as good as the “real” meat version), pumpkin fritters, breaded mushrooms and more. Each dish was creative and super flavorful. I did not know vegan eating could be so delicious! There is plenty of outdoor, tented seating. The space allows for easy social distancing and is heated. And it’s dog friendly too. There was live music as well - not the kind that is so loud and distracting you can’t carry on a conversation but rather a talented performer singing solo with his guitar. The bar is fully stocked and although they don’t yet have South African liquor or beer (the SA govt won’t allow alcohol sales - even exports - bc of Covid), they do carry some nice SA wines and an ample variety of beers and liquors. Next up, the weekend brunch. The menu looks amazing ... chocolate oats with layers of almond butter, chia seeds and sliced bananas. YUM!!! The staff and ownership is delightful too! Do yourself a favor and visit Oh My Soul and begin your love affair with South Africa and vegan living!

We walked in and told the staff that we were first-time customers. She kindly walked us through the menu and answered our questions.

The Vicken Waffle Sandwich did not come with maple syrup; request it if that's your thing. As a former omnivore, I enjoyed syrup with my chicken and waffles.
The King Kong burger had two patties, very filling.
Pros: All Vegan Options, Bar outside/ Decor, Heaters by tables
