Ate twice, both a delight. - Edit
Day 1
Read moreFirst we had the Bar-Bea Burger and the Tempehritos. The vegan option to have hummus instead of cream was a great addition on the burritos. The burger it's self was deepfried too long for my liking, the chips were under cooked also. But had the potential the be really tasty.
Day 2
Had the pakoras to start, they were lovely. 6 instead of 5 would make them a great dish without arguments ;)
Then had the vege-thali (tofu instead of panner would be a great vegan option). I had the banana curry. Which was lovely and gone within a minute. The cream eu chocolate was a perfect end.

only vegetarian restaurant in Dubrovnik .. and easily one of the most amazing restaurants in the world. I spent a week in Dubrovnik and ate here 4 times -beware-its a small place and it fills up fast (they do accept reservations). We just ate early every night.
Read moreThe salad bar is incredible. At first glance, its small, but has so many delicious options, i ran out of room in my bowl SO fast! and the other food on the menu! OMG-my group of 3 ordered different things almost every night, and never had anything we didnt like (even the meat eater in our group was thrilled, and delighted to return night after night!)
Pros: amazing food, friendly staff
Cons: i wish there were more of these restaurants!

One week with Nishta - Edit

Read moreI also had a friend with me who was neither vegan or vegetarian and he didn't want to go to any other restuarant other than Nishta.
On our last day in Dubrovnik they got us desserts on the house, since we ate there so much. They are supercute! Love from Sweden!
Pros: Vegan, Big portions, Really good and tasty stuff
Cons: The only con was the banana dish, it was not enoug

excellent- thank you! - Edit
I'm overjoyed that this restaurant exists. It's the only vegan place anywhere in the area. It made my stay in Dubrovnik possible- it meant I could have a nutritious meal and didn't have to ask constantly if it's got milk/eggs in it etc!
Read moreThe quality of the food is excellent. We ate there 4 times in a week. We had just about everything on the menu between us and there was nothing that I was disappointed in. Eggplant 'meat'balls, eggplant tartar, vegan temporitos and the sea queen are my favourites.
The restaurant is massively popular. I recommend making a reservation.
The only improvement this restaurant could make would be either to extend the premises or open up a second location in the city.
Keep up the good work (if you publish a recipe book I'd definitely buy it...)
Pros: mostly vegan, excellent range of food options, excellent quality food
Cons: could do with bigger premises

Great meal! - Edit
I had read a flattering article about this restaurant before my trip and was pleasantly surprised just looking at the menu. Despite catering to people with restricted diets, the options sounded appealing and creative. I ordered Pakoras: "Mixed vegetables fried in a light and spicy dough made of chickpeas.
Read moreRefreshing raita. Dip it in sweet and spicy cream made of green beans. Gluten free." My main course was the SeaQueen: "Algae’s accompanied by avocados, cranberries, walnuts, cashews and sesame–orange
dressing served with the Peruvian grain, quinoa. Vegan. Gluten free." Both were flavorful and different from the vegetarian food I would order in the U.S.!
Pros: Unique menu with a wide range of options , Friendly staff! I arrived with a group of 7 and th, Not expensive!
Cons: Not a good restaurant for people who aren't health

Cosy vegan/vegetarian dubrovnik - Edit
Great little find in Dubrovnik. I ordered a starter of spiralled zucchini and Brown rice/eggplant balls. Was delicious! I didn't order a main but I was still hungry, so ordered some sweet potato fries with hummus. the fries weren't as cooked as I would have liked them, but still a lovely experience. The waitress was lively and spoke really good English.

Cozy and conveniently located in the touristic center of Dubrovnik.

Most of their foods were good - but some were so so.
I liked their cashew and carrot soup.

great - Edit
Nishta has it down. During my visits, I had almost every vegan item on the menu, and everything was consistently excellent. My favorite was probably the ping pong appetizer. I also particularly appreciate the fresh juices. Service was efficient and attentive. And the location in the old town is full of charm. Prices are quite reasonable especially considering both the location and the quality. I only wish there were a few more vegan items on the menu, to keep things interesting on multiple visits.

Only option in the old town, still fantastic - Edit
I recommend eating here.
Read moreFor low budgets a salad bar bowl will be enough to fill you up, and is full of a variety of ingredients.
The starters are large, which is positive.
The curried banana was interesting and I would have it again.
The three of us who attended all enjoyed our meals here.
Service was a bit stretched, but the quality of the food is so high a wait is worth it.
Pros: Excellent food, Large portions
Cons: Steep price; however it is Dubrovnik, Unusually long service time

Really great and tucked in a cool alley. I was there in August and you should make a reservation. I liked the menu so I ordered the vegan burrito to go. Went back again a few days later and enjoyed a refreshing salad.

Nishta - a vegan/veggie haven in Dubrovnik - Edit
We just spent a week in Dubrovnik and ate at Nishta 6 times! As a vegan, eating abroad can be stressful but Nishta took all of that away and we absolutely loved every meal. I think between us we ate everything on the menu and all were delicious. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable too and made us feel completely at home. It is very popular so it is worth booking in advance, one of its many charms is that it is small but not at all cramped. I hope we get to visit again one day. PS. Try the cholocate mousse!

The only veg restaurant, but a delicious one! - Edit
Really delicious! My husband and I went twice. I’m not sure how long the current menu stays in place, but try the Ping Pong appetizer (“meatballs” made of eggplant) if you go before the menu does change.
Read moreEverything is vegetarian, and vegan and gluten free options are clearly marked. The menu matched what we’d seen on the website.
The location was really nice, right in the old city. The outdoor seating was really nice.
As others have said, you’ll need reservations, at least on more popular evenings. We were there on Thursday and Friday, and reservations were definitely a must. You can of course call to make a reservation. Email is another option if you want to contact them before you get there, we found them to be fairly responsive to email. You can also just stop by. You may not be able to just show up and expect a table, but you can stop by and reserve a table for later in the evening if you’re early enough.
The second time we ate there, they were out of a few things. We ate at 9pm, so it may be beneficial to eat there not so late into the evening. That said, it's all delicious, so it wasn't a problem.
Pros: Location, Delicious food, Ambiance

Beautiful Spot - Edit
Lovely staff who fitted us in even know we hadn't booked. Loads of healthy vegan options. My partner and I shared the meatballs, then for my main I had the banana curry with fresh Narn, followed by the chocolate mousse for dessert. We were not disappointed and everything was so tasty and well presented. Not expensive either. The street was cute and off the tourist path. Was a lovely atmosphere. Would go again.

I wanted to like it. - Edit
I was looking forward to eating here based on the reviews. Anyone who has travelled to Croatia knows that vegan options are limited. I dined at Nishta with my family, and we all agreed it was pretty average. By all means go, as there are no other options, but don't expect to be blown away. Make a reservation as seating is very limited.

My partner and I are travelling through Europe and travelled through Zagreb before Dubrovnik so we had the pleasure of trying both locations of the 'Nishta' restaurants!

The meals are good, servings are a good size and the location is good - in the heart of old town Dubrovnik, which was very convenient for us only a very short walk from the apartment we were staying in.
The staff were very friendly and we ate there twice on our stay of 3 days.
Would definitely recommend heading here if you are in the area!

delicious - Edit
Finding this place in a land full of meat was a true relief. Seeing the menu made me smile instantly. The first day I had a starter and a main dish and they were both extremely good. It wasn't so busy so I got to talking with the (Swiss) chef about vegetarian food, he is obviously very talented as he seems to whip up the tasty dishes quite easily. The second day I convinced my friends to join me and they were so happy they did. The vegan version of the tempehritos wasn't as good as the non-vegan, the noodles with veg & tofu was slightly disappointing to a meat-eating friend, but I was lucky as I chose the seitan burger (called Bar-Bea burger, I wonder if there is a link with the Barbie-themed toilets?) that was my all-time favourite. The banana curry was a big hit, too.

A must if you come to Dubrovnik. Had very nice pasta carbonara made of potatoes with delicious, smokey-tasting sauce and simple but super tasty raw beetroot soup, pureed with sunflower seeds. Tartare was ok, ratatouille a little boring (but after the beetroot soup everything else seemed a little boring:)

Nishta - Edit
Since there are no other decent vegetarian restaurants in or around Dubrovnik, dining at Nishta is the only reasonable thing to do.
Read moreIt's a small place with very nice interior and a friendly atmosphere, both the seating accommodations inside and the ones outside are a bit cramped but I guess, considering the narrow streets, that's like in any other place in Dubrovnik's old town.
I have been there today around noon and I have eaten a bowl of salad from the salad bar, gnocchi made of nuts with pesto, a freshly squeezed juice and a lentil pancake as dessert. Soon after opening there weren't many other guests there so I could order right away and was served pretty quickly by an very friendly waitress.
Salad was great, plenty of choice and all fresh. Sadly (and for unknown reasons) the mushroom pasta, which I ordered in the first place, was not being provided, so I took the raw gnocchi. Pretty good taste, no large portion but therefore substantial. The juice was really great and the dessert was fair, not bad but also not gorgeous.
Nishta in Dubrovnik is definitely a lovely place, you should go there; as far as I am concerned, I like a Nishta in Zargeb more though.
Pros: only decent restaurant in Dubrovnik, lovely, good taste
Cons: cramped, a bit expensive(due to central location)

greet place in that surrounding - Edit
We apprechiated it very much, that there was in Dubrovnic, with all the meaty-touristic options, also one very resprectable option for vegetarians and vegans. you need reservation on the crouded times, but if you don't have: the staff is so much involved to get you a table also on some neighbour-restaurants. the food is quite good and also side dishes like salat and dessert are pretty good.
Read morewell actually there is no other place to go for vegetarians so it's easy to be popular. But nevertheless it's a great place and there is no way to not go there if you are in Dubrovnic and also in ZAGREB (there is a second one) it's a good choice to go there, although there are other possibilities too.
Pros: very, very nice staff, tasty food, good atmosphere
Cons: full organic would make it perfect

The only thing that could be improved is service time.
But it was worth the waiting. Came out fresh and Yummy.

Some Dishes Are Better Than Others - Edit
As the only vegetarian place in town, we had to try it out. We came here twice for lunch and the experience was variable. It's a small place and you may have to wait for a table. Staff are also variable, with some more attentive than others. At least one waitress had a cigarette break during her shift, a couple of steps from the outside tables where smoking wasn't allowed. The food ranged from very good to extremely salty -- don't have the kokofino unless you have a severe craving for salt.
