Loved this place! - Edit
We had a short stop in Florence on our way to Siena and we ate here both times. We ordered a bunch of dishes but our favorite was the carbonara! We especially love the vegan shredded cheese that came with it. The soups were also really good. Highly recommend this place!

Favorite restaurant ever! - Edit
This restaurant in Florence was easily the best place that we ate in in Italy. The menu is huge and they have a lot of vegan options (including vegan cheese!). Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! My father couldn't believe the carbonara pasta didn't contain eggs or milk. The dessert was also awesome. The staff was so friendly and since we arrived late we were the last ones in but they didn't rush us or anything. The place itself is super cute and Instagram-friendly. We ordered 3 entrees, 3 seconds, 2 thirds, 2 desserts, bottled water and drinks and payed a little over 70EUR.

Disappointing - Edit
Read some great reviews of this restaurant so we decided to try it out. We specifically asked the waiter for recommendations on what was best. It’s not that the food was bad, but just so very bland. Uninteresting and without much flavor. More like dukkha than nirvana!

Could be better - Edit
This place has many vegan alternatives, all main dishes and starters are vegan. We ate the gnocchi and a rice dish, they weren’t the best. The rice was just mixed with curry, no veggies, no soy meat, no nothing, just rice and curry. It felt like something was missing in the dishes.
Read moreYou know that feeling when you eat at a restaurant that almost only serves meat, and they just take away everything not vegan and serves you what’s left in the dish, so you end up eating just fries or just rice or just potatoes, that’s nirvana.
Pros: Almost everything on the menu is vegan, Descent prices
Cons: Plain food

Sez "vegan" outside, but about 65% only & Vegan Pizza = Bland - Edit
I ordered the vegan pizza (a choice of 1). A thin, barely raised crust of white flour (really? in Italy?) had a tomato sauce that was somewhat bland, and had some melted vegan cheeses that were okay. They would not add a topping of mushrooms when I ordered it. My partner's mushroom lentil soup was nice and came with a vegan parmesean cheese garnish that melted on it. Hot food was served HOT, cold drinks were served cold, so they did a good job in that aspect. However, as we've experienced this before at some veg restaurants, there was a giant picture of Krishna on the wall, and the pizza sauce was bland, we think that they don't use either garlic or onions (as it offends Lord Krishna (well, I wasn't asking HIM to eat any)). No garlic/onions = bland pizza.
Read morePros: Vegetarian (don't know if I'd trust the cheese)., Hot food served hot.
Cons: Non-onion/garlic seasoning = not good for pizza, Not cheap for what you're getting

One of the best meals, and so cheap - Edit
The menu is now all vegan (July 2019), and they have a deal of main and dessert with coffee and water for €10! We had carbonara for main which was excellent. We tried the apple cake and tiramisu for dessert which were lovely, although tiramisu wasn’t very coffee flavoured. Would recommend to anyone

Menu still has items marked as not vegan. The vegan cheese pizza was more expensive than the other pizza's. I think that you are mistaken about all items being vegan. At 11 euros for a simple medium cheese pizza, they aren't that cheap.

Average vegan food - Edit
We ate at Nirvana twice, and actually I found that first courses were ok but the second courses I had weren't so good. I had tagliolini wich is a fresh pasta with truffle cream, that was quite nice, and ravioli with soy ragout: the sauce was very tasty, but totally overwhelmed the flavour of the ravioli vegetable filling, I find that a pity! Than I had the soy and vegetable burger that was nothing exceptional and covered with a red bland sauce, served with roasted potatoes (the potatoes were ok). The other dish I tried was roasted seitan with Chianti wine: the seitan itself was tasteless, but covered with a red wine sauce with a ton of black pepper... I didn't like it... the menu is almost entirely vegan, the only food that is vegetarian is clearly marked (pizzas and tiramisu). I found the staff kind but not well prepared, when we asked information about the plates that answers were not so precise...

Great pasta! - Edit
To be honest I was a little put off by the name-I imagined couscous and brown rice health food but they actually had a really good menu. They have pasta with different sauces, carbonara, creamy truffle sauce, gnocchi, ravioli, .... And many seitan dishes. We had the spaghetti with creamy truffle sauce and the seitan cooked in Chianti with roasted potatoes with salad. (The potatoes were so good!). The pasta was delicious! We had the cheese plate for appetizer- it was ok, but nice for a light appetizer. The deserts were only ok though. €7-€10 euros per main dish, so it was a good value. Also this place is mainly vegan with a few non-vegan items clearly marked.

We went there for dinner (around 10pm) and 3 of us ordered pizza and someone else ordered a suppe but it really wasn‘t that spectacular like the other reviews said. Also the waiter had no clue about the dishes or beer, wines. He wasn‘t rude but just not very informed or seemed happy to work there.. i wouldn‘t go back.

Vegan Classics! - Edit
I really enjoyed this spot! I wasn’t sure what to do for dinner, found Nirvana, and was pleasantly surprised! I got two dishes, the vegan carbonara and eggplant parm. The carbonara was by far the best, and was absolutely mouthwatering...would definitely go again just for that! I felt like I found the vegan version of the taste of Italy I was hoping to seek. Eggplant parm was pretty good, but I wasn’t as blown away. The waiter was friendly, there are English menus, and overall pretty good pricing! A variety of beer and wine, and many gluten free options as well.

Wonderul & elegant place - Edit
This place is truly a gem, since in Florence it's not that easy to find a vegan place that is not fast-food. This place has a vast menu with all kind of wonderful dishes. The price is right for the quality and service. The place is super relaxing, very romantic, suitable for couples and also big groups. Located close to the old town. I have been there already several times and every time it's a great experience!

Almost entirely vegan - Edit
Lovely laid-back restaurant that feels like a local hangout. Entire menu is vegan except for pizza, and they offer a vegan pizza, too. Had the vegan pizza, ravioli (not very filling but delicious sauce), something called “seitan and beans” which turned out to be a wonderfully flavorful beans and rice dish—a table pleaser. If you have a craving for cheese order the “rice with cheese” which is literally what it sounds like. Cheese overload, but just what my table mate wanted. Next time I will try the stroganoff. English menu offered.

Up there with the best food I’ve had this trip (through Italy, Barcelona and other parts of Spain, Amsterdam and France...).
Read moreGreat menu, so many choices. Food is hearty and homestyle and to me seemed rustic and wholesome. It’s really delicious. I ordered so much so I could try lots of vegan treats and took leftovers home. Then the next night I ordered home delivery to my hotel from their website 😂🙈. Everything was delicious. Plenty of vegan choices - pasta, pizza, vegetable dishes, desserts...tofu and seitan are used. Flavours are gorgeous and the vegan cheeses are great.
Really great experience - like going out for homestyle good quality fresh Italian except....happens to be vegan. I was really delighted to find this place.
