Disappointed - Edit
The space and staff were lovely - they were busy but took our order while we were in the queue to speed things along. The food looked interesting so I had high hopes, but I just did not like the food. I'm definitely not a fussy eater, but it just did not taste good. I ate as much as I could to not look rude, but had to give up.

Delicious okonomiyaki! - Edit
We had to wait in a queue for about 15 minutes but definitely worth the wait. This was my our first time trying okonomiyaki and it didn’t disappoint. You get to eat it from a hot plate in the middle of your table. Definitely would recommend to all veggies and vegans.

Vegan Okonomiyaki ?!?! - Edit
It’s true ! And it was incredible !! Plus it’s Hiroshima style so they make it with yakisoba !! The staff were very friendly. It’s easy to find and close to the peace memorial. I thought I’d never be able to try Japanese okonomiyaki again until we discovered this place 👍👍

Okonomiyaki after a long queue - Edit
I reached around 6.30pm, got seated and served around 7.10. Not quite sure whether the wait was worth it as I gather from HappyCow that there were other exciting restaurants around. In any event, the okonomiyaki itself was excellent and the hospitality was great. I had the 1350 one, which had garlic chips, green onion, rice cake and corn on top. Very hearty serving. And they give two vegan sauces (one spicy, one normal) as well. Just found it slightly expensive since I had a very similar meal for lunch for 750.

Really huge portions and very good food!
Read moreOne downside is if you are sensitive to seeing animal flesh/ova, do not sit at the counter as they will cook it in front of you the whole time you eat. Get a table instead.
Pros: 3 vegan options, Very tasty, Lots of side flavours to choose from

Okonomiyaki - Edit
Had to try this place as so highly rated and the food was great. Have a veg/vegan menu with 6 veg options and 3 vegan. It's only small though and if there's any sort of queue outside when you turn up you could be waiting for a while. But it's a Hiroshima speciality though so worth it.

First time I had the chance to eat veggie okonomyaki and it tasted really good. It's a very famous restaurant, there's mostly a long queue outside waiting for a table.

Great vegan and vegetarian okonomiyaki - Edit
I was craving something traditional in Hiroshima and this place fulfilled the craving. The menu has 3 vegan and 3 vegetarian options. Portions are large. The staff is really helpful and understands English. Get there early, the last table they give out is at 8 pm.

Amazing experience - Edit
They cook on a plate in front of you, the plate gets cleaned all the time so no worries about getting meat/animal ingredients on your food. They clearly distinguish in the menu between only vegetable/no egg/no meat, so you'll find the right food for you. Must eat in Hiroshima :)

Very cool! - Edit
So happy to have found vegan okonomiyaki! Clear vegan options, and they were sure to bring it out on a separate plate and put it away from my boyfriends non-vegan meal on the ‘stove’. Lots of other tourists when we went, but I’m sure it’s fellow vegans happy to have found this gem! :)

Bustling, popular okonomiyaki spot with vegan options - Edit
The is a very popular okonomiyaki spot in a central location in Hiroshima. They had several vegan options, and a vegan sauce to go on top. It was very tasty, although perhaps a little dry. The chefs cook the food dramatically on one side of the restaurant. Unlike many Japanese restaurants, the serving sizes are large and could happily be shared between two people. This place gets very busy with a long queue to enter so I recommend going for an early dinner (5pm or so) or a late lunch.

Fantastic food close by Peace Park - Edit
We walked here from the museum and found it easily. Restaurant was busy but we didn't have to wait too long. Vegetarian and vegan options ("only vegetables") were clearly marked on the menu. Was a bit more expensive than some of the meat counterparts but glad we stopped by for lunch.

Not the most healthy and nourishing food, however it’s good option when in Japan where veggies and fruits so expensive.

Didn't love it - Edit
Happy that they had a vegan menu, but it didn't hit the mark for me. I struggled to make look like I'd eaten enough to not look rude. Good friendly service.

Be prepared to wait! - Edit
This place is popular, and for good reason! It's definitely a little bit touristy due to such good reviews and awards from trip advisor, happy cow etc which means you may wait for up to an hour or so on busy nights. I have eaten here several times and highly recommend it. They have an okonomiyaki option for everyone. Be sure to ask for the vege okonomiyaki sauce, as their in house sauce is not vege/vegan friendly.

10/10 authentic Japanese! - Edit
This was such a delicious meal! They had a separate vegetarian menu which was awesome. It’s a very popular place, so on a Monday night we waited in line for about 30-45 minutes at 6:30pm. But very worth it! You can watch them cook your meal right in front of you too, which is also kept on a hot plate at your table so it doesn’t loose its warmth. It’s awesome! Vegan dishes are available also. We felt like it was a bit rushed due to its demand as we would have loved to take our time and maybe enjoy a few drinks with our meal. But all in all, food was absolutely delicious!

Famous place for okonomiyaki - Edit
Cool okonomiyaki bar/restaurant, we waited 1 hour to be seated! We ordered the vegan option (no cheese, mayo and meat), if you’re not that hungry, one okonomiyaki is good for 2 people. They expect you order a drink and we had iced Japanese tea. Hiroshima is famous for its okonomiyaki but honestly there’s nothing special about Nagataya’s okonomiyaki. It was alright for the price.

2 hour wait for salty/bland food - Edit
We waited in line for two hours and can honestly say it was not worth it. Absolute waste of time for average food - the vegetable sauce (salty and overwhelming), green onions and mayonnaise were the only things that gave the vegetarian food flavour. I can’t even imagine this for a vegan without egg, cheese and mayonnaise. We had much better okonomiyaki in Tokyo without the wait. If the line is back to the crosswalk - you are in for a two hour wait.

Not a great vegan dish - Edit
The few recent reviews that I had read were all very positive but personally I don’t think this dish translates well to a vegan one. I basically got dry fried noodles with spring onion on top. Had to use a lot of sauce. That’s after queuing for an hour. Not for me!
