Richly flavoured - tastes just like the normal ramen - Edit
My friend and i didnt notice the vegetarian ramen could be turned vegan. We ordered the vegan ramen but it was as flavourful as the normal ramen, very salty and rich. My Indian friend likes it. I like especially the diced ham (well-seasoned tofu)

Little bourke st/Elizabeth St outlet - Edit
Love their vegan ramen broth free noodle top up makes it a value for money. The vegan version of their ramen is to remove the egg but still pay the same price without any replacement. This basically removes the only protein source in the meal and you still gotta pay the original price.
Read moreMoreover, their service is quite bad. I have been going there regularly on my own(at least once a week for the past couple of months), sadly this lady who is always at the counter never acknowledges with a "hi again" or something and even if they have plenty of seats available, I am placed either at window seat or literally a seat right in front of the register(very uncomfortable seating area as their staff are looking right at you when you eat). Its hard to describe without being there but they give you weird looks if you ask any questions or ask anything at all really. For example, I asked the waitress if i could get something to replace the egg that i was technically paying for but removing as i am vegan, and she didnt bother checking with her manager or giving any sorta justification why they do that, bug told me straight that if I want anything extra I'll have to pay for it. Sadly, its not a matter of money or anything, it's really the unfair feeling that I get when paying full price for something but not getting the entire thing.
I get the impression they are just out to make money and are not interested in customer retention or satisfaction. What a waste as I really like their food. I will try out the other outlet and update again if their service is still as bad.

Decent Ramen - Edit
A couple of decent vegan options on their otherwise meat and egg-laden menu. You need to exclude eggs from the selection when you order, but this is fairly simple.

Best Veg Ramen - Edit
I've been coming to Mr. Ramen San when I just turned vegetarian and I continue going as I am vegan.
Read moreTheir recipe of a veg ramen has been unchanged for almost a decade and it is good.
It is a busy place that is trying to serve many customers, yes. Is this a place for a good catch up or a date? No. Is this a place for the best damn veg ramen you've ever had? Yes.
Go get the best damn ramen in Australia.
*Default veg ramen is vegetarian but if you remove the egg it becomes vegan.
Edit: they now have a second location, 5 minutes around the corner for those that hate ques.

Average Food, Bad Service - Edit
Went because of the reviews, but honestly the Ramen (I tried both vegan options) was quite average. Ramen noodles were thin and somewhat overcooked. Not much of anything in the bowl except the overcooked noodles. Broth was okay, but not great.
Read moreAnd the service was very poor. Not in the traditional bare bones, minimalist Asian eatery kinda way.. Moreso in that they dont care about you or your business at all kinda way.
Wouldn't go back. There are much better Ramen places around.
Pros: Relatively Inexpensive
Cons: Very average food, Very poor service

Bad staff attitude and behaviour - Edit
Bad business, go elsewhere. Asked to leave when sitting with friends table because staff thought i would make people after me wait longer if I ordered food. Staff are dishonest, rude and selfish. Long lines, overpriced, bland taste, crowded dining area, rushed service, lie in google review, don't admit fault, don't say sorry, insult customer, pretend bad reviews are fake. You know your mistake and I hope you suffer consequences for your actions.

Soo good!!! - Edit
2 vegan options (order without the egg). Really tasty and homemade. Such nice vibes inside too, quite small but we managed to get a seat straight away. The ramen comes really quickly so you don’t have to wait long either (order via phone using QR). Definitely recommend, I got the vegan ham one. They also have the option of adding more noodles, free of charge

Must visit - Edit
Authentic best tasting ramen I’ve had for a long time in an intimate Japanese style space. We saw this place and were contemplating if it was worth it for the few meals we had on our Melbourne holiday and ended up coming back for a second meal! Hand made noodles and soup cooked for 10 hours, you can really taste the effort put into their soup (no MSG for those concerned). The mock meat although I thought was a strange pairing at, worked well with the other flavours and I was pleasantly surprised! Very cheap for what you get - only ~$15. Definitely visit here is you like ramen! Although not a big range of choice of vegan options the ones you can get is definitely worth it.
Read morePros: Few vegan options done well, Not expensive , Inner city location

Overall good experience, perhaps avoid the mock meat. - Edit
The ramen was quite nice and decently affordable. Not a big fan of the vegetarian 'pork' (kind of like spam or deli meat) but the dish overall was satisfying. Would probably go for the tofu option instead next time. Very cosy and the staff were friendly.

Belly Warming Ramen - Edit
This little Japanese-style diner is well worth the queue.
Read moreEven though the menu is small, two vegan ramen options and the gyoza is more than enough! I prefer the faux meat version, and while the broth starts out a little plain, the option to add in as much garlic and soy at the table turns it into a super wow dish. Plus the option for topping up your noodles is a joy.
A great place to get some warm, filling noodles (and maybe grab a cheeky sake). One of the best little spots in Melbourne.
Pros: Just damn fine ramen, Noodle re-fills!, Adding items to broth for your taste
Cons: You may have to queue

Really not great - Edit
This ramen is just ok, I definitely wouldn't go back unless I desperately needed food and it was the only thing open. The broth was okay, probably the most redeeming about it, but the fake meat was just so foul that it was immediately pushed to the side of the bowl and ignored. It was comparable to spam meat. More toppings would've been appreciated aside from the fake meat.
Read moreI'd definitely recommend Neko Neko WAY above this, which is easily my favourite ramen in Melbourne.
The only decent thing about our meal was the dumplings, they were of a much higher quality!
