Irresponsible and unaccountable - Edit
When I first visited Mitty I made the very disappointing discovery that it was not actually vegan because it used non-vegan hand cream, as if it’s not a basic thing to source plant-based hand cream. (You can read my original review below.) I contacted them and they corrected this adequately. The service here is very good and I have no complaints. However, I went back and had my polish removed and a couple of days later I experienced some mild complications. I didnt take issue with the salon, but I emailed them to alert them what had happened to me and ask if they had any advice. I received no reply after two weeks and so emailed again and still heard nothing back. All I wanted was a response, possibly some advice, and for the salon to get a heads up but they did not even acknowledge my situation. This is appalling form and cements my decision not to return.

Unfortunately using non-vegan hand cream 1 ⭐️
We treated ourselves to a manicure at Mitty, booking weeks in advance, happy, relieved and comfortable at the thought of not having to worry about animal abuse products. I had had an experience with another business where I was just about to buy a gift voucher only to find out that despite the place explicitly calling itself vegan it used honey. We were welcomed in to Mitty Fitzroy’s bright, warm salon and seated with the offer of a drink. The nail technician was friendly, did an excellent job of my nails and was really good at explaining the process and answering all my questions. However, at the end of my appointment when I was offered hand cream, I hadn’t noticed that the brand of lotion was Cetaphil, which is *absolutely not vegan*. This put a serious damper on my whole experience here. The studio specifically promotes itself as vegan so I was surprised to find that something as basic as hand cream was overlooked. I’d love to go back for another appointment but would need them to start using a vegan hand cream first.
Update: I have reached out to Mitty and been advised that the Cetaohil was an honest oversight and they will change their hand cream to a vegan brand. I will continue to follow up and update my review accordingly.
Cons: Failed to respond to concerns about complications , Had to be alerted their hand cream wasn’t vegan

Hi ,
Read moreI wanted to address this review, as it is unfair and contains some inaccuracies.
To clarify, we use vegan products exclusively, and the specific product in question is not tested on animals and contains no animal-derived ingredients. The confusion seems to stem from the Cetaphil brand itself, which, as we later discovered, includes some products that are not vegan. At the time, we were unaware of this due to conflicting information on Cetaphil’s own website. As I explained in my email, once we were made aware, we immediately removed all Cetaphil products from our salon. You emailed us on a Sunday, and despite being closed on Sundays and Mondays, we responded within an hour and had already replaced the products that weekend.
Regarding your concern about nail care, we also spoke over the phone, and I apologise if it was unclear that I believed we had fully resolved the issue then.
We are committed to running a fully vegan, sustainable business and supporting other vegan businesses. Given the challenges small businesses face, we always appreciate honest feedback, and we did our utmost to address your concerns promptly and thoroughly. A fairer and more accurate review would be appreciated in light of the efforts we took to make things right.
Thank you for your understanding.

We did not speak over the phone all after my second visit, which was when the redness and pain occurred. I emailed you and received no reply.

Hi,
Read moreWe spoke on the phone, and I also emailed you on 5/8 in response to your email from 3/8. Unfortunately, I can’t attach pictures here as proof, but I’m disappointed that the situation is not being represented accurately.
Best regards,

I just did an email search to check, and the last email I received was a feedback request on 20 July. Please resend me the email and I’ll be happy to change my review.
