My fave restaurant! - Edit
Love this restaurant so much - it's vegetarian but has mostly vegan options or options that can be made vegan! We go here all the time and it's our go-to place to take our omni friends to as well. Plus they have brought the brownie back! It's a different take on their original peanut butter one but still pretty epic.

Fabulous - Edit
Have enjoyed going to Mildreds in Soho for many years. But always found it difficult to get a table, it was so popular. Stumbled across this when staying at Kings Cross. Its only a few minutes walk from the Station. Visited twice and great service and great food. So great having a choice of food.

Four great meals on four different visits - Edit
I go to London once a year for work, and last year and this year I've ended up at Mildred's twice each time. Last year I went twice to the King's Cross restaurant, and this year I managed to get to the original Mildred's in Soho and again to King's Cross.
Read moreEach time I've ordered something different, and each time I've been incredibly impressed. Both burgers are delicious, but the Polish burger in particular stands out. The fries/crisps are fantastically crispy. I still fantasize about the mock duck cassoulet (available last year, but didn't see it on the menu this year), and the smoked tofu, fennel, apple and white bean sausages with cider jus, pan fried cabbage with peas and dill and mash had me making yummy noises alone at my table.
I understand that waiting times can be quite long during peak periods, but as I'm pretty much an early bird, I got there before the evening rush each time. (In fact, it's the perfect late lunch/early dinner before catching the evening Eurostar home.)
Highly recommended, and would be worth the wait even during busier periods.
Pros: Fantastic food, Friendly service, Filling portions
Cons: Can't think of any. Seriously.

Amazing food - Edit
I had the smoked tofu, fennel, apple and white bean sausages with cider jus, pan fried cabbage and peas, dill mash and I am still drooling at the reminder of it. Best vegan food I've ever had... A little on the pricey side but totally worth it ; I'd even consider it cheap for the quality of the food they serve... Just go !

Best veggie burger in London - Edit
I've tried pretty much every veggie burger I can find in London and always come back to Mildred's for the classic burger (a mixture of lentils give it texture and tofu moisture). The Soho branch of Mildred's is so ridiculously busy we've given up going there, but the King's Cross branch normally has a table. Or on weekday lunch you can get a takeaway burger with the excellent sweet potato fries for £7.50.

Food good, shame about the service - Edit
The food is no doubt the highlight here and any vegan/veg would be happy. However every time I go I'm let down by the service. I order two things (main and side) and the side never appears. Other times food waiters ignore you after finishing the meal and you spend 30 mins flagging for the bill. The decor and atmosphere are surgical and cafeteria-like. I won't bother going again as there are better options in the area.

Great option for King's Cross - Edit
Ate here three times during a four night/five day stay in London. They have a very decent range of vegan options, although interpreting all the little "v" and "vo" notations at the sides of the dishes became a bit confusing (as some restaurants use "v" to indicate vegetarian rather than vegan, and this places uses "v" for vegan). But very happy with the food and ambiance overall. Favorite item: the baked sweet potato wedges with basil mayo.

Nice brekkie - Edit
Had brunch here. Had the vegan full english breakfast. Was really nice other than the tofu scramble which was hard and dry, probably would have been nice fresh.

Delicious, delicate flavors - Edit
We had a great time in this fun, upbeat, open atmosphere eating delicious food! The buffalo wings were nice and crispy on the outside and the dip was really good. The gyoza sauce was sweet and tangy and so good, and the gyoza were nicely fried. The Sri Lankan curry had such a variety of flavors and came with a tomato sambal, which went really well with it. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back!

My new favourite Mildreds! - Edit
I am a big fan of Mildreds and used to go to the Soho branch quite a bit before it started getting so busy that it was impossible to get a table! I recently went to the one in Camden, as you can book a table in advance, and was excited to try the one in Kings X. I took a couple of colleagues (non-vegans!) for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It is a really lovely space with atmospheric lighting and a variety of places to dine, including long canteen style tables. The food was delicious - I had the flat bread and rose hummus / baba ganoush to start, and the vegan burrito for main. My companions enjoyed the veggie burrito and the stir fry. The staff were lovely and more than happy for us to sit, sipping our drinks, for several hours and didn't once make us feel uncomfortable. I think this is my new favourite Mildreds!

Mildreds the third comes in second. - Edit
After the disappointment of the Camden Mildreds I contemplated taking my ear plugs with me but half the reason for this night out was of course to catch up with an old friend so I determined that if the muzak was anything like the Camden branch I'd forgot doing a meal review and go to Itadaki-Zen round the corner instead. Thank fully the new spacious style Kings Cross Mildreds is pleasant and welcoming. Not as cosy or decibel friendly as the original Soho "branch" but equally busy - though in truth we did sneak in on the last night of the opening month special offer !
Read moreThe staff are a little too keen, it felt a little "american" in terms of service that borders on hassle. But I was lucky enough to find an old comrade amongst the staff from the old days at Pogo cafe and so got the low down on how things are. The menu is veg with most offerings having vegan options. We couldn't see the daily specials board but the waitress knew what was on it and we ordered a soup to share. The main course arrived before we had finished the soup, and instead of taking it away and waiting - the table we were at had no space for extra crockery - I mopped up the soup and went straight in to the main course. Not good. The food was great, ale pie with sweet potato chips instead of fries went down a treat. The Polish burger that my friend ordered was very tasty and solid, though the bread bun a little too hard.
Mildreds Kings X suffers from the same lack of sugar free dessert options that the others do which is a shame. It's weird that when the powers that be have finally realised that sugar and eating meat aren't healthy options, vegetarian outlets like this are still serving up refined sugar soaked sweets with no alternatives.
That being said we shared the cherry truffles- one a piece - which are delightful, if likely to bring on early diabetes.
So if you want to try out Mildreds, I'd recommend the original in Soho and if thats full - remember you can't reserve seating at any of the Mildreds restaurants - jump on the Piccadilly line, three stops north and try Kings Cross as the next best thing.
Pros: Good food, Kings Cross easy to get to!, plenty of vegan options
Cons: Pricey if not "expensive", Not all vegan, No sugar free desserts.
