My favorite restaurant - Edit
I went to this place on my last trip to London and I will for sure come back every time I return.
Read moreI liked the atmosphere and the staff was super friendly.
It was hard to decide for a dish for me, because they all are really creative.
In the end I ordered some vegan chicken masala and it was one of the best dishes I had in my life.

Vegan tortellini! - Edit
Large open dining room with some bar seating, statement purple pendant lighting and an upbeat playlist. Mildreds is now majority vegan (love that this is the menu default, with 'nv' used to indicate non-vegan - the future!) and increasingly accomplished with the meat and dairy alternatives. Wines are also nearly all vegan unless otherwise indicated. Nice touch that tap water is provided on arrival. Exciting to find vegan tortellini - pumpkin with convincing sage 'butter'. Welcome generosity with the garlic levels is set off by the zing of fresh redcurrants. The 'chicken' burger's charcoal brioche bun lends a dramatic visual contrast and a touch of sweetness alongside delicious tomatillo mayo. The 'hot' option isn't that hot but table sauces include Sriracha. Speedy service in a full restaurant.

Delicious and expensive - Edit
Seriously tasty food.
Read morePretty pricey.
The sign outside it says "Vegan Restaurant", so I thought it was a vegan restaurant. It turns out it's not, I nearly ordered a dish with cheese thinking it would obviously be a vegan cheese, then found out it wasn't.
Pros: Awesome taste
Cons: Misleading sneaky sign outside says "vegan", Expensive

great brunch (pricey though) - Edit
Really tasty slap-up vegan brunch. Big pile of tofu scramble with large mushroom, smokey beans, sausage, sourdough toast - the meal comes with a toasted tomato but they swapped this for avocado. Oat milk cappuccino. Very tasty but expensive (brunch £10) but I guess that's central London...

Good value, great service - Edit
Fast friendly service and reasonable price. I had a vegan chicken style burger with accompaniments, my wife had a vegetarian option. Generous helpings and very tasty.

If you want the usual offerings of burgers, curry & nothing too groundbreaking then its a good place. I was not blown away with the menu, food was standard.

Great menu, bit noisy - Edit
Been here twice now - it's a handy location near Kings Cross, and the menu is big and really interesting. Great selection of things - my jerk tofu dish was great. Also the juices etc.
Read moreAt peak hours, they pack quite a lot of people into this very resonant boxy room so it gets very noisy very quickly. It could do with a bit more softness to make it feel more welcoming as well as helping with the sound.

Veg*n available late - Edit
Visiting from the US, finally found vegan versions of the sort of food an American thinks of as British. So much of the menu is vegan by default that it takes fewer marks to identify those items which are not (nv = not vegan) or can be made vegan (vo = vegan option)

Disappointing - Edit
Having been before I was expecting good things. It’s a nicer bigger restaurant than the one in Soho and I’ve never had a bad meal in a Mildred’s. But we were there late (10pm) and they brought our food suspiciously fast. Our food was cold and the chips were revolting, like they’d been cooked hours before. Although the staff were polite it was clear they wanted us to hurry up and get out of the restaurant, so really not a great experience at all.

It’s okay - Edit
I came to Mildred’s in 2016 and was there most days, came back 2018 and had the Black bean red rice burrito. Expensive for how small the burrito was. There is more guacamole on the plate than the actual burrito. It tasted lovely there are pineapple pieces in the guac which is delicious but the burrito was lost with it all. It’s hard to choose a meal because of the price and you know the meals are going to be small. Unfortunately I probably won’t be back.

Great food and drinks - Edit
Lovely range, particularly enjoy the dukkah and the desserts. Have had mixed experiences with service ; once the drinks took 15 minutes (which I didn’t particularly notice) and we were generously given free drinks and dessert, but can also be incredibly slow (with waits over an hour). However, the food is lovely , as is the location

Good choice, bit noisy - Edit
I’ve been to Mildred’s in Kings Cross many times - for dinner and lunch. Not yet had the chance to try the brunch. I like the choice on the menu, from burgers to uber healthy salad bowls and curry‘s, stir frys and falafel in between, it offers most people something they like/fancy. The broad choice also means those returning have something new to try. Although, the burgers and chips with signature basil mayo and ketchup are so good, it took me a while before I tried anything else. Good choice across starters/mains/dessert. Menu is mostly vegan and non vegan dishes are labelled. They also have an allergy menu, although the kitchen isn’t separate so not suitable for those that are coeliac.

Great Katsu Curry! - Edit
I tried the Katsu Curry after a delicious starter of guacamole and blue corn nacho chips. Everything was delicious and I'd happily go back to have it again. I love how Mildred's menu is now vegan by default, and the non-vegan (vegetarian) options are highlighted, instead of the other way around. Only negative is that they don't take bookings so it's a bit of a wait sometimes.

We never met Mildred, but we'd like to thank her. - Edit
They might have targeted students with this location, but don't let that put you off. This ultra modern, light and airy space has bags of atmosphere with big communal dining tables or twos and fours if you wish. The full "english" veggie breakfast was really good and their own recipe baked beans were very tasty as were the kim-chi hash browns.
Read moreApparently this place gets really busy, but at 10.30 am on a Sunday it wasn't so bad and the service was prompt and friendly. Sensible pricing.
There is a bar so I guess the evenings are lively.

Cons: None

The food at Mildred's never disappoints - every dish is well put together and combines delicious elements. Also a nice space in general with glass windows. Service can be a bit slow sometimes, but that's expected from such a popular spot.

Came here three times when I was vegetarian - both their brunch and lunch dishes are quite good. Recommend the fried ‘chicken’. A great place for a group. The food is really filling and tasty. Cocktails are nice as well.

Good food - Edit
The food is good, and the service is really friendly. I'm not sure that it is worth all the hype considering the amount of vegan restaurants there are now. I used to always get the pie from here which was absolutely delicious. A good place to take non-vegan/non-veggie friends.

The food here is really tasty, and the restaurant is a decent size. Price is OK for London. The portion sizes are decent. Sometimes I can't finish everything! I go here a couple of times a month for brunch as the scrambled tofu is delicious.

Excellent food and fantastic service - Edit
I ordered the mushroom and ale pie with chips and mushy peas. I called them about 10 minutes in advance and asked to it to-go. They had it ready for me when I arrived, the staff were friendly and they gave me three different (delicious) sauces to dip my chips into. The food itself was delicious! Hearty, loving food that warms your heart. The only down side was they didn't give me cutlery.
