Several Vegan Options, but meh... - Edit
It’s important to note this place is an open-air eatery within the French Market. It’s like a fixed “cart” with about 6 stools. It’s good for people-watching, but not very cozy. It’s great to have so many vegan options, and the food isn’t bad. One thing that really bothered me: everything is served on paper and styrofoam which they carelessly toss into a trash can afterwards (not a recycle bin, where appropriate). I would hope/expect a restaurant that boasts healthy alternatives to care a little more about the planet.

A great find - Edit
Visiting from out-of-town. I didn't know about this place until doing on Postmates under a 'vegan' search. I like the market, and some other food places seem like they may have options. We had vegan crab cake po' boy, side of potatoes, vegan blueberry pancakes, and apple patties (which I thought were like ft l fritters but are like sausage patties), and FRESH squeezed OJ.
Read moreEverything, and I mean everything was really good and enjoyed! There is seating for 6 at the counter, or tables in general area (we choose counter). I didn't know it was in the market but glad we walked over to discover.
Pros: Food tastes really good, Cute market setting, Friendly service
Cons: Prices are HIGH ($16 po' boy, $8 OJ), $0.10 for tap water

I visited Meals From The Heart on my last afternoon before heading to the airport, and I wish I'd seen it sooner! I ordered the vegan gumbo but it was a tough choice between vegan tacos, crabcake, the Impossible and the Beyond Burger, and more!

I’m not even a pancake person-their vegan blueberry pancakes are the best pancakes I have had hands-down. There’s no reason people should be eating non vegan pancakes.

Good food but had a few issues - Edit
I ordered the vegan crab cake tacos. They accidentally gave me non vegan crab cake tacos. They didn't realize this until I was well into my meal. It seemed like there was a lot of confusion between the waitresses and the cooks which is what I think caused the mix up. They responded well to the mix up by refunding me and giving me a card for a free meal. Came back the next day and got the vegan philly which was good. The staff was nice but the communication really needs to be improved to avoid situations like this in the future.

Vegan banana pancakes - Edit
So nice to find vegan pancakes, I had the banana ones and they were tasty and nice texture. Inside the French Market so lots of other options if you’re with non-veggies. Saw that they also sell the Beyond Burger which is sooo good (I didn’t try their’s though but the Beyond Burgers are amazing generally).

Stopped here for lunch in french market. My daughter had the vegan crab cakes and absolutely raved about them. Wish the rest of us had been hungry but unfortunately weren’t so we didn’t get a chance to sample the rest.

SO GOOD! Fresh ingredients. Great food. Enjoyed the blueberry pancakes, veggie sausage, oatmeal w/all the goodies, and threw in a vegan crab cake, because we didn’t want to miss that. All were delicious! Will definitely come back! - Edit

Deserves 5 Stars - Edit
This was the second vegan options place that my fiancé and I went to. He is not vegan so I was happy to find a place that had options we could both enjoy. I got the vegan crab cake tacos and my fiancé surprised me by getting the black bean burger. Let me just say I don’t know if I’ll ever have a vegan crab cake again let alone one that was THAT good. And my fiancé still hasn’t stopped raving about how good his food was! And he very rarely eats vegan food! The owner James was so kind and fun to talk to. We are planning on visiting again before we leave to go back home. I would visit NOLA again JUST for those tacos!

i spent most of trip eating here during my trip in NOLA for mardi gras 2018. their food is delicious. I had their vegan gumbo which was incredibly savory, & packed with tons of flavor. I also had their vegan crab cake po boy which had a vegan remoulade on it as well. it was mardi gras season so for dessert I had a vegan king cake which is pretty popular during mardi gras season. it tasted like a cinnamon roll. 👅 yummmm! ask for james he’s awesome and is very helpful. i would have given it 5 stars but its not completely vegan or vegetarian bummer!

Oops: Not Vegan Gumbo - Edit
At first I was served regular gumbo, with shrimp and sausage, which of course I didn't eat. Swift apologies were issued, the offending gumbo was removed, and after another short wait, the vegan gumbo appeared. Delicious! Worth the wait. Also my husband loved his crab cake. Lots of crabmeat, not much filler, which is the way he likes it.

Stayed in the French quarter for 4 days and ate here 3 of those. Best pancake I’ve had period. Black bean tacos were insane! Gumbo was missing something, I don’t know what, but was still really good! Staff was super friendly. A true little gem in a hard to find vegan restaurants city.

So many vegan options! - Edit
I was so happy to find this restaurant in the French Market. There were a number of vegan options, and I choose the portobello mushroom poboy. It came with lots of veggies and avocado slices. Made for a very good, and very messy sandwich! They gave me a free cup of ice water (most restaurants in the French Market will only sell you bottled) and offered free orange slices while you wait for your food. I will have to go back to try the black bean burger tacos as I saw someone else get them, and they looked amazing!
