Not impressed

Ok food, but unfriendly staff, even rude.
The restaurant is written as vegetarian, so i asked the staff if the things i wanted was vegan, and the staff rolled their eyes saying madly «everything is vegan» while not even looking at us. The costumer service is bad, and i would not go there again.

Pros: Lot of choices, Ok food

Cons: Rude staff

Good value lunch set

Tasty lunch set includes one main, veggie and soup. It’s a small space but I will definitely be back! Try the tofu with tomato.

Decent but unexceptional food

Not sure how this is the highest rated place in Ho Chi Minh City! It's not bad but in my opinion it's a little too pricey and not quite high enough quality food to justify 5 stars. The daily special is usually good, and cheaper than the standard menu, but tends to run out in the afternoon. The staff aren't super friendly. (but neither are they particularly rude!)

Pros: Discount daily special, Clean and bright space, Central location

Cons: Slightly overpriced, Specials run out too early

Very Odd

Having read reviews, came here for a nice dinner
Only server working wasn't very welcoming but we sat down and checked out the menu
Half of what we wanted wasn't available but we ordered anyway
Food that came out was OK but not great, and very small portions
When we asked to order more they said they were closed

Cons: Many items not available, Closed before advertised time, Charges for napkins

Small & friendly

We ordered a portion of curry & chips and a vegan all day breakfast. The chips were home cooked & delicious, the curry could have been a bit more flavoursome but I assume its a packet mix so out of their control. My partner enjoyed his all day breakfast, only thing he would have changed was that he would have liked some condiments with it (ketchup). Although after looking around there was condiments on all the other other tables apart from ours.

It's ran by an English gent & his Vietnamese wife. Their young daughter around 4-6 years of age was in the restaurant and she was very charming, she even came to sit with us after we said Hi and entertained us whilst we waited for our food. It was nice to see a loving family restaurant.

Pros: Yorkshire Tea! , Friendly family atmosphere, Can buy metal straws & cleaners

Good food

This is the second time I’ve eaten there and both times had the daily special soup for 40k (it’s a different one each day). Both times it’s been very good. Staff today were very helpful. They didn’t have Diet Coke so she went out into the alley to get one. So many places just say no when asked for Diet Coke even if there’s a convenience store within 2 doors. Helpfulness like this ensures I will return regularly. Today there was no one working who spoke English but it doesn’t matter as the menu is in English as well as Vietnamese. EDIT some of the moon cakes they have on sale for mid autumn festival contain meat, others egg so be very careful if buying these to take away.

Pros: Cheap, Good food, Helpful staff

Good local food

Based on other reviews I went for the purple vermicelli spring rolls and wonton noodle soup. Soup was good, more noodle than wonton, filling. Spring rolls were huge -the whole dish took up 3 large plates! You wrap the rolls yourself (or they will do it for you) with various fillings to choose from. The vermicelli roll was the clear winner - I'd go back just to have these again. The oily deep fried croutons on the rolls weren't necessary, and I would avoid this if you're trying to be healthy. Overall decent place, quick service, huge menu with daily specials - can't go wrong.

Tasteless Wanton Soup

I ordered the wanton soup and I didn't like it. It was around 9pm and the staff was not very friendly either. It is a small eatery and I would not go back again. It is also quite pricey for such simple dishes.

Cons: Expensive

got the wrong food

Ordered the vegan pancakes and the matcha milkshake. The milkshake was good but very sweet and instead of the pancakes I got some kind of noodle dish instead and then the waiters disappeared. It tasted good but just wasn’t what I wanted and why I went there

Pros: good taste

Cons: didn’t get what I ordered

best vegan food in HCM hands down

The banh xeo was absolutely incredible and so bloody cheap. Everything we ate there was perfect, fresh delicious and plentiful. Without question the best place we ate in Ho Chi Minh.

Pros: banh xeo, friendly staff, so cheap

must try Ben xao!

The food is delicious, especially the Ben Xao (this enormous pancake filled with veggies which you kindda HAVE to share - it is so biiig!). We also had the fresh spring rolls which were really good.
The only negative aspect is the service which was not bad, but did not seem happy to see us at all.

Pros: ben xao

Cons: service

Can’t compare to other restaurants in Vietnam yet but:
- affordable dishes
- big choice
- tasty vegan options
- super fast service
- cold beer 👅

Amazing!!

You need to try this, even if you're not vegan. We got the purple noodle rice paper rolls, fried pho, coconut jugs salad, and deep fried crunchy tofu. Plus matcha (soy milk) shakes. All exquisite, and fun! Too much food for two people, but totally worth the ensuing coma!

Pros: All vegan menu

One of the Best

I really enjoyed this lovely little place. They have a buffet which looked good but you can also order from the menu, as I did. I had a very delicious brunch of fresh spring rolls and a seaweed salad. It was all fantastic and I also appreciated the free water.
The restaurant is small and simple but it's a nice set up and a pleasant place to sit. Cheap prices.
It was a shame I didn't have time to come back and try more of their food.
It was one of my favourite places to eat in Ho Chi Minh.

Pros: Food is all vegan, Delicious, Cheap

Cons: None

Vegan Vietnamese Mania at Manis

Went here for breakfast today. Ordered what looked like a small appetizer and soup. Instead about give or take, five lbs of vegan food comes out. First. Matcha Milk Shake (Vegan with Soymilk). And then, Vegan Wonton Soup served with mung sprouts, mint and basil. And then, purple vermicelli noodles. These were wrapped around a little vegan crispy and served with rice paper, fresh lettuce a ton of basil and mint and then I covered them with garlic chili. This meal will be remembered for a long time! Server spoke English and shop was cute in an absolutely surrealistically beautiful small side street in central Saigon. Worth the trip.

Pros: All Vegan, Opens Early, Service in English

Tasty and affordable

I got the special fried rice (60k) which I found to be very flavoursome with "pork floss" and mock sausage throughout the rice. Wasn't a huge fan of the mushroom spring rolls (18k) as the filling was mushy and not very texturally appealing.

Would love to come back for the lunch set, an affordable 35k for a meat dish, soup and veggies.

Pros: great fried rice with mock meat

Cons: spring rolls were not appetising

best banh xeo in town

I usually always come here when I get a banh xeo (traditional Vietnamese pancake) craving. It's giant, filled with mushrooms and served with plenty of greens and rice paper for rolling. You will want to bring a friend to share it. If you've never eaten this dish, the staff will show you the traditional way to do it. Other favorites here include the two dry noodles: bun cha gio (rice noodles with veg and fried spring rolls) and bun xao Mani (rice noodles with stir-fried veg beef). Another favorite includes the banh hoi la cam (purple vermicelli woven and rolled into bundles served with veg BBQ and rice paper/greens for rolling).

Great soups and friendly staff

Had a lovely lunch here. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food was good. There's a big menu and also the option to choose from a stall at the front. The soups and rolls we had were really tasty (goi cuon superior to the bi cuon in this place, in my opinion). A tasty lunch and good value too. Would return.

Pros: Friendly staff, Reasonable prices, Yummy food

Cons: Would like the ice tea to be more free-flowing!, Fresh bi cuon had warm filling - weird

Am Thuc Chay Mani, Ho Chi Minh City

1stly since they offer cow milk yogurt this establishment is not exclusively vegan.

I had a set deal today. Green leaf soup followed by tofu, vegetables and steamed rice. This was perfectly pleasant without being stunning. At a cost of 35 000 I felt that was getting very good value for my dong. My better ordered herself some spring rolls & noodles and also a coffee. The whole thing came to 94 000. This seams very good value.

More than one member of staff very usefully spoke at least some English (since my vocab of Viet is still very poor).

Pros: Vegan friendly, Great value for your dong

Special experience

We ordered a green papaya salad, their special spring rools and their special Mani noodles. The portions were quite small for the prices (there are cheaper vegan places to eat in HCMC) still the quality of the food was really good. Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy my dinner as much as it was pretty spicy, although I've clearly ordered it 'not spicy'.

The atmosphere wasn't too cosy. In this rather small place were two employees by entrance, two waiters just standing around and another waiter who checked our table every five minutes. It felt like he was fishing for compliments.

We tried their packaged homemade mooncakes for dessert and loved them.

Pros: Excellent spring rolls, Good moon cakes, Free green tea

Cons: Intrusive waiter
