Menu changes daily - Cafeteria style - Edit
I was a little confused when I walked in, so if this is your first time grab a tray from the left side after the first set of tables. Then head to the back left of the restaurant where the food is being prepared. Written on the window are the choices. You choose a first plate and a main plate and a dessert.

Todos los platos son ecológicos, veganos y sin gluten. El staff es muy atento y te enseñan cómo funciona si eres nuevo. El primer plato y el postre son opcionales, pero también son muy recomendables. Cuando fui incluso tenían cheescake vegano. Vendremos más a menudo.

I didn’t understand a word of the menu and their friendly staff helped me out, explaining all the 8 items on the menu. The food is on the healthy side, which was what I crave after my 26-hour trip flying into Barcelona from Taiwan. Portion sizes are gigantic - I went there for lunch around 3pm and didn’t even need dinner that night. I would definitely want to go again!

the place was crowded (which is usually no bad sign). The service was very friendly. The menu was not available in english. Food was good, but not my personal taste. It wasn‘t as cheap as expected.

I went there for lunch - a time it was really busy which is usually a good sign.
Read moreIt is a canteen style place, where you queue before the window where they hand out the food and pay once you've eaten.
It was however almost too crowded, at times it was a bit hard standing in the queue while some people tried to return their trays - to the one side of me and people trying to leave on the other side.
The portion was really generous - more than enough to fill me before a modest dinner.
I had the tortellini which were excellent.
The staff was friendly - there English was not great but sufficient for the most essential conversation ("Is this vegan?" "Yes").

Very nice canteen styled restaurant. Daily menu with super big portions. It was very tasty and the stuff really nice and attentive who take the time to explain the concept and the menu.
Read moreMenu includes water, tea, and other drinks, as well as desert. This last one wasn't very good. We took two different cakes and we didnt really liked them. I know that making vegan cakes is not easy, I would definitely come back but would choose another desert.

I love macrobiotic food, but I'm used to it all being vegan, from where I've eaten this type of food before. I got confused that it wasn't marked what was vegan, and I ended up with stomach cramps the rest of the day because something I ate had milk in it... But it tasted great, thought! And the staff were accommodating and nice. It's a busy place, with a canteen feel. But when you are expecting that, it's totally fine.

I can say this is my favorite vegan restaurant in Barcelona. When I eat here, I not only feel like I'm feeding my stomach but also my soul. I discovered the macrobiotic way because of this place and start applying it to my diet ever since.

Best Macro restaurant - Edit
My favorite vegan restaurant in Spain. Food is plentiful and well seasoned. The principles are those of Macrobiotics that pair vegetable dishes, legumes and whole grains accompanied by some form of digestive soup and salad. The nice part of this restaurant is that it actually adapts the principles of Macrobiotics to the Mediterranean diet (some nutrition enthusiasts would claim that you will get the best of the healthiest regions on earth, Japan and the Mediterranean) using local ingredients such as peppers, olives, tomatoes and whole wheat pasta. The cooks are incredibly creative and very welcoming. Some of them are from Argentina and other countries in Latin America so you get a blend of Iberian/Latin Macrobiotics that is simply outstanding. Portions are huge so you may want to have a Spanish breakfast (small vegan cortado) so you can have enough room in your stomach for lunch at Macrobiotic Zen. Two great additions that I find unnecessarily restrictive on traditional Macrobiotic diets are delicious vegan desserts and decent organic wine. Both, are a nice blend to your meal and I was told totally O.K. for local Macrobiotic principles. The place is not lavish and service is cafeteria style (you need to pick up your tray), but who cares if the food is so good. On the plus side, this amazing lunch is inexpensive (thank you Janet Yellen for an appreciated U.S. dollar) and if you get there early enough you may be able to grab a place in the terrace on a perfect sunny afternoon.

Apparently I missed the shop section of it, but I can definitely not complain about the food! Everything was vegan with the exception of tortellini with ricotta cheese, and staff were actually a bit apologetic about selling something they don´t really believe in, but happens to be requested.. Either way, I had a fine spinach soup, some millet balls with vegetables (PLENTY!) and an almond and vegan cream cake. Everything was utterly delicious, especially the second course.. just unpretentious food cooked by dedicated professionals, and the price (12 euro) was nothing to object either.
