Once is enough - Edit
I appreciate the concept (typical Polish dishes made vegan), but I didn't enjoy the food. It was worth trying once, but I don't think I'll come back.

Polish food - Edit
If you are willing to try some Polish traditional food, this place is for you. Their weekly menu inlcudes a high variety of traditional Polish dishes adapted to the vegan diet: mostly faux meats but they are very different from the ones you can find in an Asian restuarant. The food is supreme, and so the restaurant is very popular so you can find it very crowded. Nevertheless it is worth to wait your turn.

Arrived at peak time and was quite busy however the food came out really quick and was really nice. Recommend the cauliflower patty. The takeaway sausage is quite messy. Lots of seating inside and outside. Little expensive but worth a visit.

At the moment they are serving a delicious satay dish that is worth trying: it's well marinated and has the structure of tender meat. The dessert they served (yoghurt with fruits), however, tasted good but was nothing special.

Do the lokal-motion - Edit
Lokal was just opposite our hotel so we visited twice during our stay. On our first visit we ordered the seitan roulade with roast potatoes and braised red cabbage and the sesame tofu skewers with salad and satay sauce, both of which were absolutely superb and so cheap. Lokal has an English menu by the way. The seitan dish was by far the best meal I had in Warsaw, it was that good. On our second visit we ordered the schabowy, which is a menu staple and the meatball sub. The schabowy (schnitzel) was a 5/5 and came with boiled potatoes, salad, mayo and dill. I would highly recommend. The meatball sub came with a nice fresh bun with crushed nuts, salad and coriander on top and was very delicious indeed. For me Lokal is a must visit with very friendly staff and a nice chilled out cool vibe. It is very popular though (but in a good way...) so can become very busy and cramped.

Not impressed with the taste - Edit
After reading the reviews on HC I came on a mission to try the Schabowy (I got the gluten free option), and I was very disappointed with its bland taste. I decided to just eat the potatoes that come with it but those were also pretty tasteless. Thinking it could be because I normally don't enjoy mocked meats I asked for the breaded mushroom "wings", which were dry an overcooked.
Read moreStill with faith left I had the dessert which was an improvement but very average.
I would recommend you try other local food vegan places if this one also lets you down. Personally I really enjoyed Vegemiasto :) That said Lokal has a great service and it is obviously popular so it might be just me.

Superb sushi choices. Fantastic starters. This is the place to go if you have a sushi craving:) I would compare it to Wrocław The Root. Same beatroot rice, but way bigger choice in meals.

Another great vegan place in Warsaw - Edit
If you're a vegan, Lokal is a must-visit. You can try plant-based versions of the most "polish" dishes. Prices are low, and the location is fantastic. The only con is that the place tends to be quite crowded. However, (from my experience) you won't wait longer than 5-10 minutes for a free table :)

Local and Vegan - Edit
What kind of crazy city is this? You step out of the hotel and are faced with a vegan place, namely this one and at least least 10 more within 5-10 minutes walking distance. I've been away 3 years and this happens. It's a pleasure to be back, as Scottish crooner Jim Kerr from Simple Minds still says at all of their gigs. And why not. You can't knock them. I had a quick stop off for some wifi action and possibly the best Thai soup I have ever had in my life. It was tomato and coconut milk but made in the Polish style with lots of chunky vegetables and noodles for only 14 PLN. I absolutely loved it. Big portions too which is exactly the way I like things. Sometimes it's about the quantity for me but here we have the quality too. Unfortunately I probably won't be back but that's only because I have dozens of other vegan places to squeeze in. The adventure continues.

Great food. The two of us had a Hungarian goulash, the snitchel, and some street food "pizza". All were excellent, and, of course, 100% vegan! Menu was in Polish but staff was happy to help us navigate the menu in English. Great vegan find in Warsaw!

It was nice too eat traditional polish meal since a long time. Soy meat "Schabowy" tasted like real Schabowy but could be more juicy. Sauer cream on the vegetables was just the same as dairy cream. I'm going to ask them how they can make it. Maybe they give me a littler of the secret? And "jagodzianki from Magda", which means sweat, soft bans with forest blueberries or raspberries, were amazing! 6 zloty for one ban but very big, can be divided for two girls. We're so good it was too late to take photo:)

Must visit when in Warsaw - Edit
I think it's safe to say this place is one of the most popular vegan restaurants in Poland. If you're ever in Warsaw, this is definitely a place you have to visit. They serve what I believe is the best vegan traditional Polish cuisine. I went there with my meat-eating parents. My father and I both ordered schabowy: a kind of cutlet/schnitzel and a Polish staple, quite possibly the most popular dish in the restaurant, served with seasonal veggies (in our case it was delicious potatoes with tomatoes and mizeria - cucumbers). It was just mouth-watering and my father said it tasted just as good as the meat original; the portion was so huge I has trouble walking when I got up from the table! My mother got a salad with avocado, tomatoes and chickpeas, which she said was really good too with a yummy sauce. The staff was kind and the interior was a mixture between modern hipster and oldschool. In summer there's an option to eat outside too. They also offer vegan snacks for pets.

Oh god, this place is so good. I'm from Austria so I grew up eating Schnitzel and finding a vegan version, that tastes amazing, was heaven for me! We had both schabowy and the tempeh "meat balls" and we thought both was excellent.

Delicious! - Edit
I ordered the 'schabowy', aka a schnitzel, and my dad ordered these mushroom roulades or rolls or something, for takeaway because it was so stuffy and hot inside despite the two large ceiling fans. The schnitzel came with perfectly cooked potatoes and dill, lettuce leaves and some 'mizeria', a cucumber salad, and some radish slices. It was very tasty, and the texture and look of it was spot on in my opinion. My dad's little mushroom rolls were crunchy on the outside, and the inside had mushrooms and sauerkraut. When I tasted one of these rolls I couldn't believe how delicious they were, I recommend these rolls 100%, one of the best vegan foods I've ever had. These rolls came with some beautifully cooked kapusta (I guess this is called sauerkraut also), and some orzo and salad leaves. I actually preferred the mushroom rolls to the schnitzel. The restaurant itself was not very big, but had enough space inside for a few tables. There were tables on the outside as well, I assume because it is the summer months and it was actually stuffier and warmer inside than outside. The prices were absolutely adequate. My non-vegan dad really enjoyed his meal, and so did I :) Definitely coming back again!
Read moreOne thing I would also like to mention is that if I thought it was hot and stuffy inside, I can't imagine how hot it was for the workers! I saw that they looked very warm and exhausted, and so I would love if they had better working conditions because that kind of stuffiness is just unhealthy. They should have their own little fans pointing at them, or maybe even some sort of air conditioning or ventilation system, because they were literally baking themselves in there. I hope they do get better working conditions!
Pros: Delicious food, Didn't wait that long, Take away available
Cons: Too hot and stuffy inside, lacks air con, Lack of fans or air con for the workers at the cou, Could be more spacious
