Amazing Cafe!! - Edit
I found this cafe a little while ago and I absolutely love it. Mostly vegan with the most beautiful tasting food, literally the best I've ever had. I just wish they didn't use honey or bee pollen in some of their food. However still the best cafe I've been to in Auckland.

Nice vegan food - Edit
I've eaten here many times over the years, and have enjoyed it every time. My favourites are probably the vegan cheesecakes WITHOUT the honey. Always check with them as honey is used in many of their foods. This is probably the biggest drawback, in my opinion, as honey is totally unnecessary since there are numerous plant-based natural sweeteners available. Moreover, honey isn't healthy, and those who think so are misinformed.

Since it's a popular spot in Ponsonby, it can get extremely busy and crowded, so it's best to call beforehand and make a booking. Otherwise, it's likely that you'll be in a queue, waiting for a table to free up.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Delicious, nutritious foods
Cons: Pricey, but this is common with raw vegan cuisine , Can get stuck in a queue if you don't book a table

absolutely love this place. All healthy ingredients a lot of not all of the menu is raw. They have an abundance of raw cakes and slices including many flavours of cheesecakes, caramel slice, brownie, cookies and cream slice and more! This place is a gem. Also with so many smoothies, juices, teas, coffees, hot chocolates to choose from!!!

My treat every time I go to Auckland.
Read moreI love especially the chickpea & kimchi savory pancake, and their amazing smoothies too (turmeric colada without honey please!).
All vegan except for the honey in some dishes.
Can seem a bit on the expensive side, and it is, but honestly that one meal will power you through the whole day.
Pros: A lot of great vegan options, Delicious, fresh
Cons: "the place to be" for all the hipster & yoga crowd

Love the sweet stuff! - Edit
No other desserts can top Little Bird's desserts for me. Everytime I crave sweet, I crave Little Bird. My favourites are their espresso cake, raspberry cacao cake and blue berry cake. Also dig their cacao brownie. The espresso cake especially though makes my day everytime. Missing it now! And so happy they are fully vegan too!

Absolute favorite restaurant in the entire world - Edit
I love little birds so much, I would fly over to eat there (and I live in Switzerland) ! but everytime i visit beautiful Aotearoa I go there at least twice a day, even more now that there's three locations. The food is beautifully prepared, always incredibly tasty, the presentation is on point, the staff is friendly, the concept is original and the health benefits are there. What more do you want ? A slice of raw cake ? It's ok, it's good for you !

Lovely lunch - Edit
Last May I had a smoothie, the sprouted bread and a slice of chocolate cheese cake-all really tasty and filling. It was lunch time so pretty busy, but they found me a spot at the big share table and the service was great, the staff were attentive.

I lived around the corner for a while and sadly only had the chance to have lunch three times. I had the BBQ tempeh, the bird bowl (❤️) and the tacos as well as the buckwheat waffles which are beyond amazing.

Tables were completely full at lunchtime, so I bought a takeaway meal, a Detox Salad, which lasted me two meals. Greens accompanied by small containers of red sauerkraut, pumpkin/sesame seeds and tahini dressing. Desserts available. Some packaged goods and teas for sale.

Delicious desserts and lunch - Edit
Delicious deserts and breakfast/lunch. I wasn't sure if they would really have sizable lunches since the focus seemed to be on the bakery, but they do. I've had limited experience with raw food, and everything we tried was quite good. It was also quite crowded, which is a good sign.

Best cafe in Auckland - Edit
The little bird makes the absolutely best food in Auckland - whether it's cake, slices, smoothies, savoury dishes... Sometimes hard to believe that it's really raw - they've mastered the art of raw cuisine. And now that I have their cookbook I see how much work goes into their creations. Absolutely worth every penny! And the location and design of the cafe is just as great.

Totally Awesome - Edit
I love the food in this place, it is a consistently high standard with a wide variety of main dishes available, as well as drinks and sweets (sugarless of course). The only problem is it's only open for breakfast, lunch and afternoons, not for evening meals….

Popular Vegan Lunch Time Restaurant - Edit
Hiding away in a little side street in Ponsonby has not stopped this restaurant from being very popular. May be queues at lunch time. Vegan and mostly raw lunches in Western style. Moderately priced for near city. Caters to eating in or take away. Pleasant decor.

Yum! - Edit
A beautiful little place that gets super busy! Make sure you are there earlier than you want to eat as you often need to wait for a table. The food is amazing. There is a menu that stays the same, however, they often have new items available. The best part about Little Bird is the cabinet! Vegan and raw cheesecakes, slices, cake pops and more! The hardest decision is choosing what you will eat from the cabinet - you won't be disappointed with what you choose. Great service from a happy team!

Simply Fabulous! - Edit
Raw food (bar a few exceptions) that not only tastes amazing but looks absolutely beautiful. The place is always packed so sometimes you have to wait a while for a seat, and may have to share a table with others, but its worth the wait. They have a 'pecking order' for seats so you don't get queue-jumped, and they have takeaway options. The menu items are delicious, and the cabinet food is very enticing. They cover breakfast, brunch and lunch, with the kitchen closing at 3pm and the smoothie station closing at 3.30pm. They change up the cabinet food options continuously so it's worth popping in if you're passing by. They have other items for sale also, such as their 'grawnola', raw crackers, macaroons etc, as well as raw chocolate, teas, agave syrup, Vitamix mixers (on my wish list!) and other assorted items. The staff are friendly and cope with the rush well most of the time. I wouldn't recommend going there if you're in a hurry because the food can take a while to come out of the kitchen, but again, it's worth the wait - filling, delicious, and healthy.
Read moreJust be aware, if you are strictly vegan, that some of their menu items have bee pollen or honey in them. If you're unsure or it's not listed on the menu (they usually list ingredients) just ask and I'm sure they'll be happy to help.
Pros: Excellent food, Great, friendly service, Regularly updating cabinet foods
Cons: Sometimes very busy, Potentially long wait times

Lots of Food to Choose From - Edit
All the cabinet food is gluten free and most of it is vegan, but you do need to ask, because honey is used as a sweetener.
Read moreThe food is rather pricey ($9 for a small slice of cheesecake, $15 for a takeaway salad) but the food is fresh and healthy.
Its in my neighbourhood, and is always busy and popular.
its not well signed - look for the little bird house on the side of the wall in Summer Street.
Pros: Good choice for treats, Healthy, Mostly vegan and gluten free
Cons: rather pricey, busy - queues out the door
