All vegan pastry shop - Edit
Bit difficult to reach. Anyways plenty of options from pastries and slices and decent gf offer.
Read moreThe cafe is filled up with plans (I assume some of them for sale?) which is very nice, although the place itself is missing any sort of atmosphere or “vibe”.
I had a chocolate and pistachio pastry and it was very good! The puff pastry was nicely layering and the filling was delicious. Coffee was good too.
Bit confusing that there were no labels by the items and no prices. Which makes it star down as it was annoying to ask about everything. Coffees and food were listed on the board but not the cakes and pastries
Cons: No labels with prices or names

The plants are all for sale. If you zoom on your photo you can see they all have pricing on the pots. I got two of my plants here last year and they are doing great:)

Yes, plants had price tags but the food did not 😅🤷🏼♀️
Read moreThere were only some items and drinks listed on board on the wall but non of the patties had a price so had to ask.
Happy to hear your plants from there are doing well!☺️

A favorite destination - Edit
We stay nearby when we visit New York and I always look forward to frequent early morning forays to see what’s in offer. Today I was very pleased with a just-from-the-oven plum danish. The pastry, creamy filling, and warm fruit made for perfection. I will definitely be back.

Scrumptious, genuine French style pastries - Edit
Yes, these pastries made the flaky test. Even the pain au chocolat made the cut (and this is a tricky one, only surpassed by bakkerij Frimout in Ghent so far as I've not visited Paris (or France) since becoming vegan - but these could definitively hold their own against a non vegan pain au chocolat any day of the year).
Read moreTaken back by the location? Get some free sight seeing and make it a (mini) trip, coming from Manhattan take the ferry from 34th street (Astoria line) to the Brooklyn Navy yard (walking distance from this location). Afterwards you can grab a City bike (loads parked right in front) and bike on over to DUMBO stroll through Brooklyn Bridge Park, head on up to the roof at Time Out Market and enjoy the views (for free!).
However, do be warned, as everything in NYC prices are through the roof but so worth it!

I’m amazed by this place! - Edit
Ive had their breakfast croissant sandwich and several savory and sweet pastries. All of them were top notch. It reminded me of eating in Paris. I took my uncle one time and he was surprised it was vegan. Well worth the trip if you want legit pastries or breakfast sandwich!

This is what vegan dreams are made of - Edit
We adored the pastries and cronut of Le Petit Monstre. We had the whisky almond croissant, pistachio escargot, pain au chocolat and strawberry cronut. We packed the pastries in our rucksack to eat through the day while walking around the city. The flavours of them added enjoyment to our day with each new pastry. The cronut was creamy with a smooth vanilla flavour. I loved the cronut. The pistachio escargot was also creamy, chocolatey and had a subtle pistachio flavour. The whisky almond croissant was my partner’s favourite of the bunch. It had a good nutty flavour, flaky outside and a dense paste inside. The pain au chocolat was flaky and thick, with lots layers inside. Would be good with a coffee. We had the next day (pan de la veille) and it still had a good texture.
Read moreThe staff are super nice, and chatty. Offered help and suggestions of places to check out after. The vibe in cafe seemed cool, lots of plants and table space.
If we lived here we’d be regulars. We can’t wait to recommend this bakery to any friends visiting.

How have I never heard of this place? Happened to be in the area early for an appointment. Stopped in for the most delicious BEC on a biscuit. Double just egg patty, tempeh bacon double cheese on a homemade biscuit… $11 -UNBEATABLE. It was so delicious, even the dirty chai with oat milk and the staff super friendly.

Good cronuts, but don't get the croissants in muffin shape - Edit
We had to walk through an industrial part of Brooklyn to get here and the raspberry lime cronut was worth it, my sisters pastry wasn't. There was way too much filling, it wasn't fresh anymore and she could barely finish it. We were quite disappointed because it was very expensive. My cronut was good though.

Too many choices!! - Edit
Excited to try this spot since we love Clementine Bakery so much and they are related. The amount of choices was unreal! We had to get all the French specialties since we don’t often find these where we live. We had the custard danish, pannier, and breakfast sandwich on a croissant. All delicious! The staff was kind as well. The space was nice and they also sell plants and some take out produce and sandwiches from clementine bakery.

Best cronut I've had in a long time - Edit
A wide selection of pastries available: we bought a chocolate raspberry cronut and an almond whiskey croissant. Nice and crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. Prices are also pretty high, but no different to the other vegan bakeries in this area.

Croissants!!! - Edit
The pastries (especially the croissants) are everything a vegan could ever hope for. Incredible selection, from super sweet to savory and everything in between. They even carry some very basic grocery items like coffee beans, yogurt, and a tiny selection of produce. Also potted plants! The hot lunch options are slightly hit or miss, but overall this spot is a much appreciated part of the neighborhood!

Not great - Edit
Ordered the gluten free cheesecake and quiche. Unfortunately both were very dry as if they’ve been sitting out for a few days. The staff was not very friendly.

Really good, though overpriced - Edit
I am obsessed with vegan French pastries. Even just a few years ago, it was near impossible to find a great vegan croissant or pain au chocolat—basically they were just dense bready things with not a flaky layer in sight. But thankfully that's no longer the case. (See: the holy grail, VG Pâtisserie in Paris.)
Read moreLe Petit Monstre makes a tasty, extremely rich pain au chocolat that doesn't taste like coconut oil, as some do (coconut taste is not necessarily a problem, but a point of comparison). The croissants I've tried were mostly very good, but underbaked and doughy in the middle, which was a bummer. I bought a plain kouign amann yesterday at the end of the afternoon, and it was ok, just not the freshest. For non-French offerings, their cronut was delicious: flaky and just the right level of sweet.
I am delighted Le Petit Monstre exists and will continue to try their offerings and support their business, so if I sound critical, it's because the place is so overpriced. I realize this is a speciality bakery in high-rent hipster Brooklyn, but $6 or $7 for a kouign amann and $6 for a cinnamon roll is absurd. Quality vegan pastry shouldn't be a luxury item.
Pros: Vegan French pastry--yay!
Cons: Ridiculously overpriced

Run don’t walk! - Edit
Le Petit Monstre might be the most underrated vegan cafe in NYC. They have an amazing selection of authentic style French pastries and delicious savory options as well. The entire place is so adorable and everything tastes amazing. They have everything from fresh bread to Chocolate croissants and vegan quiches. Highly suggest checking out Le Petit from brunch. I actually heard of them from a non-vegan friend who’s obsessed with them if that tells you anything!

Unbelievable - Edit
I can’t believe this place exists, but i’m overjoyed. screw disneyland, this is the happiest place on earth. I got a wide selection of pastries:
Read more• The cinnamon roll is the best i’ve ever had, even from before I went vegan
•Their quiche is fantastic, wonderful texture, great flavor, flaky crust
•Their donuts are massive and have the most wonderful texture- chewy but not dense, with an incredible crumb structure. The chocolate glaze is rich.
•Their chocolate croissant is unreal. Massive, flakey, incredibly buttery.
•Their lobstah salad is fantastic. It’s made from hearts of palm and is flavorful and has a great mix of textures. The baguette is delicious but a little too firm and chewy for its contents. It still works though.

Tasty - Edit
The creators of Clementine bakery started Le Petite Monstre so of course it’s good. There were no good fully vegan restaurants in the area and this place fills that void.

A vegans Parisian dream - Edit
Great all vegan restaurant! I went for the pastries and I was not disappointed. Their pistachio croissant was like biting into a dream with its perfect sweetness and million layers. It was truly a Parisian dream. Can’t wait to try more of their other pastries and food items in the future. Definitely would recommend!

Vegan heaven is here - Edit
While all the vegans in the neighborhood are absolutely ecstatic that this beautiful shop has opened you don’t have to be vegan to enjoy all this deliciousness. From the pastry to the cakes to the insanely moist donuts...you’d never know it’s vegan if someone didn’t tell you. The staff is friendly, options are plentiful and the coffee is great. Need to add to your plant family? They have a lovely selection of greenery...fresh fruits and veggies too! Vegan heaven:)
