BEST VEGAN ROAST IN LONDON - Edit
This place is awesome! We went for a Sunday roast dinner and I was completely blown away. The level of care and attention that goes into creating each part of the dish is absolutely incredible. Each individual bit of food is seasoned beautifully on its own and the when it’s all combined in one perfect bite, I don’t even have words, I’m actually still speechless. But I will try, we ordered one of each roast, so I got to try them all… my favourite was the tofu belly, I thought I had tried all the ways to make tofu before but they’ve showed me that I clearly have a lot to learn. The cracklin’ is some sort of wizardry. Salty, crunchy but with that little chewy texture too. Mind boggling.
Read moreThe seitan steak is super super tasty too, the best seitan I’ve had in a long time. Roast potatoes exactly how my grandma used to make them, crispy and fluffy at the same time, there’s some sort of wonderful sweet potato purée as well which kind of brings everything together and the pot of gravy that is actually a pot of gravy, is so thick and delicious, non of that crappy watery jus you get sometimes. THE YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS!! Oh my goodness, Ive tried so many times and so many different recipes for Yorkiss but have yet to succeed, but these bad boys are legit. Crispy on the top, with the little dip in the middle to catch your gravy, and a the doughy on the bottom without being undercooked. I could have eaten 5 more!
I didn’t get photos, I was too busy eating. Ooh cauliflower cheese was smoking as well, cheesy goodness with smoked paprika. *chefs kiss*
Also big up to Tobias our wonderful host, brought extra life and atmosphere to an already great space with awesome music, and to be fair everyone there was delightful. And since this is a music venue as well you kind of expect sticky floors or that stale smell of booze to linger about, but it was super airy and fresh, clean, great art, posters, stickers, graffiti everywhere. AND they do SLUSHIES!! Will be back to try those and eat more roast soon for sure!
Pros: Everything, Staff are brilliant, SLUSHIES
Cons: Only on a Sunday 💔

Best roast ever!! - Edit
We both got mock chicken roasts with the fake skin on top which was crazy amazing !! I think it must have been made with rice paper maybe? The gravy was great, we even got yorkshires which was the cherry on top. £16 but worth it! The staff were really lovely too

The best fried chicken I've had - Edit
We came here for dinner as we'd been to LDs when they were open in Bristol and were really missing the wingz.
Read moreFor two, we shared half a dozen "wings" (honey mustard and buffalo flavours) the dirty mini mac and gravy train fries. This really hit the spot having trekked in the rain to get there.
I'm not always a fan of vegan food replicating non-vegan food for the sake of it, but LDs really sets the standard for good food, not just good vegan food. The mocken that they use (I believe they make it themselves?) has great texture and taste. 5 stars, no question.
Pros: Good for sharing, Mac is really cheesey, The closest to fried chicken I've had
Cons: Quite a few things missing from the menu

Vegan roast - Edit
I visited for the vegan roast and it was a great portion size and love having a Yorkshire pudding. However, the food wasn’t as hot as I like and the actual pub is a bit chilly too. There was also no sign outside to say it was The Black Heart which made it slightly tricky to find. If you love metal music you’ll love it, but if you don’t, you might find it a bit loud. The food also took an hour to come, although we were 10 mins late and warned we were therefore “bottom of the list” to get food. It was a nice meal but probably wouldn’t go back for the roast. It was great that there were 3 different vegan roast options though!

Cool Pub - Edit
Only had drinks here as we'd already eaten elsewhere, but I was really impressed with menu. Staff were very welcoming and there was a great atmosphere and tunes playing within the pub 🎸. I'll be sure to visit next time for food.

Amazing Vegan Chicken - Edit
That has to be one of the best Vegan chicken I have tried. If not the best. They have invented a skin which is perfect for the batter and herbs and spices

Fab roastie. - Edit
I took my non vegan husband here and we both absolutely loved it! Huge portions, crispy roast potatoes, a big jug of gravy, light & fluffy Yorkshire puds and insanely good crackling made from plants! It was a bit dark and cold inside the pub and heavy metal music isn't really my thing, but the food & service made up for that. Already planning my return trip.
