Not open (but good cake)

UPDATE 4th May: tried again and it was shut at around 19:00 again. Hours must have changed, no signage to indicate when it was open but it must shut before dinner. HOWEVER, my boyfriend did get me a surprise vegan cake from here for my birthday which was delicious! I’d recommend going, but go in the daylight hours.

2nd May: Closed, unsure why. Thursday at 19:30. Are hours wrong? Posted 3 hours ago on insta, nothing about it being closed today. Will try again in a few days and update review if open…

Promoting veganism to language learners

I haven’t been there but was so happy to see it on the language-learning app Busuu. It is in Spanish C1 Chapter 1 lesson 1, i.e. in pride of place as the very first lesson of the Advanced level.

I had already shoehorned veganism in to every written answer I could so it was really nice to see the topic come up.

The place looks great and Lalo speaks Spanish very clearly.

Pros: Appearance on Busuu, Portmanteau name, Look of the place and food

Delicious and super friendly!

We loved the juices, the bowls and my friends ordered the sushi burgers. Thank you for the excellent service and great prices. Absolutely would go back. (We were a table of 5)

Great Place to Lounge

There’s a small seating area and a large one shared with another restaurant on the left side. The other restaurant is not vegan so don’t get confused because the waiters there are much more persistent.

Paulo has a great selection of drinks and entrees. We tried the sushi burger (delicious and very unique), the beet burger, guacamole, and a few drinks. Everything was great but the sushi burger excelled.

They accept cash and cards (the other restaurant in that space does not fyi). I’d recommend checking out Layla’s when in the area.

Great smoothies

This is a small place and not the most convenient seating arrangement. Smoothies were very good and the rest of the food was good but not excellent

Pros: Great smoothies

Bad experience

I usually don‘t like to complain, but that was the worst experience I had in Mexico so far. My friend got her bowl with half the ingredients. It took ages for them to get it right and then it tasted awful.
Also it was a tiny portion. I don’t think they know anything about vegan food…

They had a sign out that said you would be able to pay by card or Paypal and but you could only pay cash. They didn’t even take the sign away after I suggested it.
I’m sorry and maybe you’ll have a better experience but I didn’t like it.

Pros: Mostly fresh ingredients , Clean

Cons: Too expensive , Orders wrong, Bland tasting

We had the Kava and was not disappointed

Went here for a drink and loved the kava root drink. Presentation was on point, the drink was unique and we definitely felt like we’d taken a karma after drinking. Was very happy, nice outdoor seating area.

Pros: Variety of Mexican vegan food, Interesting drinks and cocktails, Nice ambiance

Cons: Little pricy compared to other places we’ve seen.

Sushi burger

What an amazing place, the location is shared by a few restaurants, and has a very cool atmosphere and design.

-🍔🍙I tried the sushi burger with a salad, it was incredible!! The rice is fried and very oily, it might break apart on you, but you can eat it with a knife and fork, it felt like a hot fried onigiri, it's very unique!! The salad felt like a traditional salad and an asian salad hybrid, with the picked onion and pickles, and the tomato, it was great, very fresh and the tanginess of the pickles went great with the sushi burger itself.

Great vegan place, cool vibes, highly recommended!

just ok

I went to this place bc it had so many good reviews, unfortunately I didn't have the same experience.
I had the cauliflower tempura tacos which didn't have much of a taste. they definitely looked good, so it was more disappointing that the taste didn't match.
the garlic sauce I had with my French fries was good tho.
maybe the other dishes are better

Very good, but expensive

We went for dinner. Shared the vietnamese rolls- fresh and nice sauce! Boyfriend had the sushiburger- very delicious. I had the pad thai and added tofu on top for proteins- very fresh and delicious as well.
The water my boyfriend drank was more expensive then my kombucha! A bit unpleasant to pay 6dollars for water… the food was really good tho, but the bill too high to return.

Pros: Fresh taste , Different options

Cons: Too expensive!

A bit pricey for what you get

I really like Laylo, but mostly their drinks. Specially the Apothecary section. The food is not that good and can be a bit pricey. Also, the venue, although cute, is very small and not very comfortable. Although they do have another space in the left side of the building, that one is shared with other non-veg restaurants and it gets pretty loud sometimes.

Very small

The place was was extremely small, only a few tables. They didnt have some items I wanted and it just didn’t seem like they had a lot on the menu, but food was good and I found it a bit pricey. Cat that was there was the highlight

Excellent food and apothecary “potion” drinks!

I loved my kava drink served on salt and served with burning sage! It was a spiritual cleansing around me and my drink!

Pretty pricey but worth it.

I got the beyond meat burger with the gf spring roll and they were both super tasty. The beyond meat burger felt like I home cooked burger, super juicy and tasty with lots of chips. The spring roll with the satay sauce was the perfect starter before devouring the burger. Food didn’t take long to cook. Would highly recommend.

Pros: Lots on the menu, Wifi

good food and a nice art-style

We had the sushi burger and a vegetable bowl. The burger was something totally new and delicious. The bowl was good and tasted like thai-curry. We also shared a kava-cocktail - which came to the table in a spectacular way. It was a funny new experience. It’s a bit pricey.

We love love LOVE this place. We had so much off of the menu here and it's all so good. The burger is probably the best I've ever had - huge shout. And we are in love with the Vietnamese spring rolls. GO!

Okay but better options close by

We were in Tulum for the day and had dessert and a drink here. Great to have multiple completely vegan restaurants in the area However, overall we found at Laylo it looks better than it tastes... We got the two different chocolate drinks and I got the black bean brownie and my partner the passion fruit garden. Portion sizes were decent. I didn't like my dessert and the drink had too much going on. My partner enjoyed his dessert and the chocolate drink, while bitter, tasted good. Quite expensive compared to other options in the area. I think the mains are supposed to be better! But with quite a few vegan options in the area, I'd recommend a different one... (E.g. Vegan Tacos El Bajón).

Pros: All vegan, Sizeable portions

Cons: Expensive
