Cozy vegan restaurant in the city center. Kitchen is run by the renowned Chef Vitali. Serves mainly traditional Portuguese food. Some of the bestsellers are: sausage croquetes; seitan steak with vegan sunny side up egg, vegan Salmon, and a Snickers tart. Gluten free options are available. Companion animal friendly. Simply incredible! - Edit
Kong totally wowed us. We had cauliflower wings and croquettes to start which were tasty and plentiful, but the big wow factor came from the ‘steak and egg’ dish, served with a side of rice, salad and fries (a very generous portion too!). Honestly incredible. This was so tasty and a really cool concept for me. We concluded with the Nutella cake and the parfait for dessert – I highly recommend the parfait, what an amazing combination of mango and chocolate. Definitely go if you’re in Lisbon. I hope to return someday.

IMPECCABLE - Edit
One of the loveliest vegan dinners I’ve had in a long time. The croquettes was insanely delicious so crispy and the flavours…. Felt like a treat. The fish main was amazing with the rice and beans very homely. The service was outstanding. Going back for desserts as I was so full.

Great food, cool place - Edit
An interesting menu here at Kong. I had Portuguese croquettes, which was good to get to try a dish I’ve seen everywhere in Lisbon- but not vegan versions! They were really smoky and creamy inside but really crisp on the outside. Really good flavour. I also had the trio of bruschetta- the veggie pesto one was as stand out. My mom had the ‘where’s the fish’ which she said was really good.

A must for Traditional Portuguese - Edit
Really nice place to enjoy Portugal's most popular dishes in a vegan way.
Read moreThe plates are nicely crafted and well prepared.
The service is friendly, and the ambiance, decoration, and space are inviting.
As is mainly comfort food (a bit on the fast/junk food side) and the menu doesn't change (sadly because there are many dishes that could be considered), as locals we are not able to visit it as frequently as we would like to, but is still a good option to invite - especially non vegan - friends and tourists to showcase what Portuguese plant base culinary has to offer.
Pros: Great to experience traditional dishes, The friendly service
Cons: Menu doesn't change / have new options, Mainly fast food option

Yummy & Fun - Edit
We loved the location and atmosphere of this restaurant. The food was a cool way to try some traditional Portuguese dishes but veganized. I’d definitely recommend the seitan, which was thin and tender, and was very unique with the egg and sauce!

All vegan but nothing I'd reorder. I couldnt figure out why Kong got such high ratings.

Lovely staff mediocre food - Edit
The staff were really nice as was the location and venue. I am fully vegan, however, occasionally in my opinion happy cow recommendations have a habit of over-rating certain vegan venues and this was a clear example of that. The food was completely average. We ordered the cauliflower wings starter, the happy octopus main and the Francesinha. The happy octopus main was pretty turgid - the Francesinha was decent - not great. Cauliflower wings starter a disappointment. Feel bad giving it a rating like this but - got to be honest, plenty nicer places in Lisbon

So much to say - Edit
There's so much to say about this place. This place separates the menu into Portuguese traditional dishes made vegan and then some generic restaurant options.
Read moreThe food is great! And the staff are very tentative.
But the best thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere. People once done with food were just enjoying being here and it added a certain warmth to this establishment.

A little bit expensive, but good - Edit
It has good options. But because it's in the heart of Lisbon, the price will reflect it. Nothing that is impossible or abusive, but you should consider this point if you are traveling on a budget.

Super cute atmosphere and great authentic Portuguese dishes. I only regret that I couldn’t try everything! Had the pea soup, kebobs, bruschetta, Nutella cake and croquettes. Also had a pina colada. All fabulous.

Disappointed - Edit
We went to the old place last year and we absolutely loved it. The food was very hearty, tasty and unpretentious. This year we decided to repeat the wonderful experience we had last year and we were very disappointed. The place looks great and the service was spot on but the food was mediocre.

Best vegan food in Portugal - Edit
Must go in Lisbon. Best vegan food I’ve ever had in Portugal. Service was efficient and fast. I went without reservation on a Saturday night, waited 10 minutes to be seated. From the entries to desert, everything was so tasty and delicious , also the presentation was pretty well done. Not pricey, fair value. Next time I go to Lisbon, definitely I’ll come again to this restaurant.

A great dining experience - Edit
A must visit in Lisbon. We loved it so much we went twice during our visit. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. We had the francesinha, Portuguese skewers, happy octopus, wings and croquettes. All were delicious, be sure to save room for dessert! The snickers tart and the Nutella cake were incredible. Highly recommend!

Many must tries! - Edit
I came here two times. The first time I wasn’t overwhelmed but I’m happy I came back another time, as the food and service was completely on point! The bruschettas were very flavorful and the best I’ve had. I also recommend their seitan steak with egg! For dessert I tried the tart de nata and the parfait and I highly recommend both, fresh and flavorful. The tart de nata was the best “nata” I’ve tried in Portugal so far! I can now happily highly recommend this place, a lush green vegan place in a great central location in Lisboa!

Your tummy will be happy! - Edit
Kong was one of our fav overall spots we tried, we even came back for lunch. I'd skip the Cauliflower app and go for the croquettes. The bisquote, octopus and Francesinha were phenomenal! appricate all the non alcoholic drink options and the prices were so fair!

Good food - Edit
We had a great dinner here and would come back. We ordered the croquettes (great sausage and cheese flavor, creamy inside, crunchy outside), the happy octopus (the whole mushrooms were delish), two kong salads, and an order of bread (toasted plus basil pesto). The portions were generous.
