It's the same issue with every cat cafe. The cats are not there for you. They are cats and behave like cats. Would you enjoy 100 strangers coming in and out of your home every day, especially if you were expected and forced to interact with them? This is the kind of expectation required to actually enjoy the atmosphere.

There are so many vegan options here, it’s hard to choose! The sandwich with vegan mozzarella, pesto and grilled bell pepper was very tasty! I like that they add a large size salad with your meal.

Firstly, I love the concept of the Katzentempel - vegan food and a nice atmosphere for cats to spend their day. However, I did not have the best experience when I went here. We went upstairs (in my opinion more cozy than the ground level) and found a nice table. The waitress was nice but seemed very stressed. Several items that were listed on the menu were not available. We ordered a hot drink and waited about 35 minutes before asking if our order had been forgotten. After another 10 minutes, our drinks finally came. The carrot cake was okay, but nothing extraordinary. There was only one cat in the entire cafe and he was constantly being bothered by people coming up. (he just wanted to sleep) The noise level was a bit too high for cats, and there were not enough places for the cats to retreat to get some rest.

I love that the restaurant is fully vegan. The layout is smart and super cat-friendly. The menu has a wide variety of options and everything we tried was super delicious. The food was fresh and beautifully arranged and the staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. They only had two cats because one was ill and two were being relocated, but the one we saw was super playful! There will be 3 new cats as of today, but they are small so it's expected that they will become acclimated over the next couple of months :)

Das Café ist wirklich liebevoll gestaltet, man erkennt, dass die Katzen hier an erster Stelle sind. Sie haben Rückzugsorte und können entscheiden wann sie zu einem kommen. Die Küche ist mit einer Glastür abgetrennt, sodass keine Katzen hereinkommen. Es ist alles sehr hygienisch und sauber (durch die Schiebefenster ist ein Blick in die Küche möglich).

Das Personal war auch sehr freundlich, das Katzentempel hat allgemein einen tollen vibe. Ich komme gerne wieder.

We enjoyed a great vegan lunch in this perfect cat temples and for me it was truly heaven - both cats and vegan food- my 2 loves. We ordered for the kids the beyond burgers and it was a huge success. For me I took the rainbow bowl which was amazing! Great colorful salad with plant based protein and tasty seasoning. The service was also perfect. Very very recommended !!

The food is great, everything on the menu is vegan and you have a good choice of burgers, salads, hot/ cold drinks and deserts. I had a delicious burger with fries (bread, beyond meat steak, oinions, guacamole, miawzzarella) that I would recommand. We were absolutely full after that do we decided to come back the next morning for a tiramisu and a carot cake. Carot cake is good but the tiramisu is excellent. I would not recommand the lemongrass mango iced tea though (but the lemon ginger is great !). The staff is friendly, unfortunately we only saw one cat but even without the cats the cafe would be worth visiting. I've been told that new cats are being adopted by the cafe so you might see more of them in a few weeks.

I was a bit concerned about eating with cats, but we gave it a try. The two cats stayed near the window and attracted many passing people. Non seams to come in spontaneous. The cat's stayed there, that was good so.

Cats and vegan food - what more could you want?! - Edit
We went to Katzentempel for lunch and had a lovely time. The food was delicious - we shared a sandwich and side salad and we were both full with just that unfortunately. Their desserts looked absolutely delicious too, but we simply could not eat a single bite more.

Ich war schon in verschiedenen Katzentempeln und finde das Konzept klasse: leckeres, komplett veganes Essen, gute Getränke und das umgeben von Katzen 🐱 In Freiburg wurden wir allerdings enttäuscht. Es gab nur eine Katze, die man nicht zu Gesicht bekommen hat (nicht tragisch, aber dann hat es den Namen halt nicht verdient). Zudem war der Service sehr langsam und schien noch nicht richtig eingearbeitet. Wir hatten einen Salat bestellt, der nach 30 Minuten Wartezeit wohl noch nicht einmal in der Bearbeitung war und haben dann abbestellt. Insgesamt kein positives Ergebnis.

We went there for lunch and had a Curcuma Latte, Ice tea, Chips and a vegan bowl. Especially the bowl and the Curcuma Latte were lovely prepared and tasted great! Service was super kind and there was one cat. No worries that the cats disturb you there are not many and those which they have are rescued from a pet station. We are no big cat lovers but we like animals in general and also liked the concept.

The food was good, great variety to choose from. Don't be disappointed if you don't see any of the cats. As they are free to move, it happened to us that none showed up. So we left after a good dinner, but without any cat encounters.

Enjoying amazing food in good feline company - Edit
This was already the second "Katzentempel" I visited, after the one in Munich. Great concept! The menu is 100% vegan and includes many delicious breakfast/brunch and lunch options. One of them is a breakfast platter for two that consists of savory and sweet components such as antipasti, guacamole made of cucumbers, a croissant, banana bread, carrot cake and the best peanut butter I have ever tasted.

The only drawback is that 10 am, when the restaurant opens, is a bit late for breakfast for morning people like me😉Absolutely no cons otherwise.

Cats and Delicious Food 😻 - Edit
The cafe is entirely vegan with plenty of options on the menu. The staff is also very friendly. Even without the cats the cafe would be worth visiting. However the cats are the stars, especially Asahi (orange one). We got to see two of the cats while we were there and will definitely be back again soon. 🐈
